Hyundai has launched the new generation of its flagship SUV- the Tucson in India. The SUV is now based on the 3rd gen N3 platform and will be brought in as a CKD (Completely Knocked Down kit) unit in India.
The new Tucson is powered by a choice of two BS6 Phase II compatible engines- a 2.0L Nu Petrol engine mated to a 6 speed AT or a 2.0L R Diesel engine mated to an 8 speed AT. Power figures stand at 156Hp and 186HP respectively while the torque is rated at 192NM and 416NM respectively. Further Hyundai has given the Tucson a multi-link suspension at the rear which ensures a superior ride quality. The Tucson also receives an optional HTRAC All Wheel Drive system with Snow, Mud and Sand modes.
In terms of safety features, the new Tucson is loaded to the brim with goodies such as Forward Collision warning, Lane Keep Assist, Rear cross traffic alert, a Blind spot monitoring system, Adaptive cruise control, High beam Assist and more. It is also equipped with 6 airbags with ABS+EBD, ESC, Hill Descent Control, All Disc brakes and a surround view monitor.
Coming to the interiors, the Tucson gets a 10.25 inch touchscreen infotainment system, 64 colour mood lighting, 10 way power adjustable driver seat, a Panoramic sunroof, An 8 speaker Bose sound system, Electronic Parking Brake among others. The Tucson also gets LED headlamps and taillamps as standard.
An interesting thing to note is that Hyundai will also be offering a 3 year/30,000Km maintenance package as complimentary. It will come standard with a 3 year/unlimited km warranty which can be extended upto 7 years and a complimentary 3 year Road side assistance (RSA) package.
The new Tucson is available with 5 monotone colour options- Polar White, Phantom Black, Amazon Grey, Starry Night and Fiery Red. 2 dual-tone colour options- Polar white with phantom black roof and Fiery Red with phantom black roof are available as well for a premium of Rs.15,000 over the monotone options.
The Hyundai Tucson is available with 2 variants with the Petrol- Platinum AT and Signature AT whereas the Diesel gets 3 variants- Platinum AT, Signature AT and Signature AT AWD. They are priced from Rs. 27.70 Lakhs for the Platinum AT Petrol to Rs. 34.39 Lakhs for the top end Signature AT Diesel AWD(ex-showroom). The new Tucson competes with rivals such as the Volkswagen Tiguan, Jeep Compass and Skoda Kodiaq among others.
