The new Range Rover Sport receives an all-new design

Land Rover has taken covers off its new generation of the Range Rover Sport SUV for the 2022 Model Year. It is now built on a brand-new platform that uses a flexible mixed-metal architecture (MLA-Flex) which is claimed to offer up to 35 per cent higher torsional stiffness than the previous generation as well as increase the strength of the structure.

The new Range Rover Sport will receive a full-electric version in 2024

The new Range Rover Sport has been revealed with a choice of PHEV, mild-hybrid six-cylinder petrol and diesel engines as well as a new V8. Land Rover also says that an all-electric version of the same will be available 2024 onwards. Transmission duties on all variants are handled by an 8-speed torque converter automatic transmission sourced from ZF.

Land Rover has also given the all-new air suspension some great technologies such as 4 wheel steering, Adaptive dampers, torque-vectoring through braking, an active electronic differential and also what Land Rover calls the Dynamic Response Pro which is a 48V electronic anti-roll system to reduce unwanted body roll on corners.

Enhancing the off-road performance is Land Rover’s latest Terrain Response 2 system, which intelligently applies the most appropriate settings for the terrain. An Adaptive Off-Road Cruise Control makes its debut on New Range Rover Sport and helps drivers navigate tricky terrain by maintaining steady progress according to the ground conditions.

Interior

The new Range Rover Sport receives a modern-looking interior and follows their latest design language. Some interior features that stand out include 22-way adjustable, heated and ventilated electric memory front seats with massage function and winged headrests, an optional 1430W Meridian Signature Sound System with 29 speakers(including 4 speakers in headrests), a new subwoofer and Active Noise Cancellation.

The new 13.1 inch Pivi Pro infotainment system

The new 13.1 inch curved screen Pivi Pro infotainment system is also present which has a host of connectivity features including Software Over The Air (SOTA), Amazon Alexa assistant and haptic feedback.

The instrument cluster is now a part of a new 13.7 inch fully digital screen with high levels of customizability for the layout. The car also gets ADAS with Emergency Braking, 3D Surround Camera, including front and rear parking sensors, Wade Sensing, ClearSight Ground View and Manoeuvring Lights – Cruise Control, Driver Condition Monitor, Lane Keep Assist and Traffic Sign Recognition.

Price and launch in India

The new Range Rover Sport will be introduced in India by the end of this year

Land Rover has now started taking bookings for the new 2022 Range Rover Sport. The SUV will be available in 4 trims at launch- SE, HSE, Autobiography and First Edition with prices starting from 1.64 Cr. going all the way till Rs. 1.84 Cr. for the top end First Edition (Prices are Ex-Showroom). It will initially only be available with a 296HP 3.0 mild-hybrid Diesel engine with the petrol mild-hybrid expected to come later. It is expected to launch in India by the end of this year. The new Range Rover Sport will compete with SUVs such as the BMW X7, Mercedes GLS and Porsche Cayenne among others.
