BMW i4 launched- starts from 69.90L

BMW has launched its full-electric midsize sedan, the i4 in India today. It becomes the first pure EV midsize luxury sedan to go on sale in India.

Performance

The BMW i4 will be powered by a 340HP electric motor paired to a single-speed transmission which is capable of sending the car from 0-100 Kmph in 5.7 seconds. The battery in the new i4 is rated at 80.7KwH. BMW claims that this battery pack gives the i4 a range of upto 590Kms which also makes it the longest range EV in India. It will also receive air suspension on the rear axle for better driving dynamics. Charging time has been outlined below according to three types of chargers-

  • 205 kW DC Charger: 10%-80% in 31 min / 164 kms added range in 10 min
  • 50 kW DC Charger:10%-80% in 83 min / 100 kms added range in 18 min
  • 11 kW AC Charger: 0%-100% in about 8.25 hrs

BMW will also be offering a complimentary 11Kw Wallbox charger with installation at the owner’s location. They also plan to set up fast chargers at each of the 34 dealer locations in the country.

Features

Inside, the new BMW i4 gets a BMW Curved display that includes a 12.3 inch digital instrument cluster and a 14.9 inch infotainment touchscreen. It also gets wireless charging as well as wireless Android Auto and Apple Carplay. Music duties are handled by a Harman Kardon Surround Sound System with 17 speakers among other features.

An optional M Aerodynamic Kit will also be on offer which will come with larger 18″ or 19″ wheels as well as sportier bumpers and gloss black trim on the exteriors. BMW is also offering a 2 year/unlimited KM warranty as standard and an 8 year/1,60,000 KM warranty on the lithium-ion battery.

The new i4 will be brought in as a CBU(Completely Built Unit) in a single i4 eDrive40 trim.  It is priced at Rs.69.90L(ex-showroom) and is now available for bookings via BMW’s website with deliveries starting from July. 3 colour options are offered-  Mineral White, Black Sapphire and Skyscraper Grey with a choice of interior upholstery in Canberra Beige and Cognac color schemes.
