BYD India has launched their Atto 3 electric SUV in India. It is the first mass market EV based on an Electric 3.0 Born EV platform made grounds-up for electric vehicles. Their facility near Chennai will produce it as a CKD(Completely Knocked Down unit). With the Atto 3, BYD also debuted their new logo for the PV division.
Starting off with the specifications, the Atto 3 is powered by an electric motor producing 201HP and 310NM torque. This motor takes the car from 0-100 in just 7.3 seconds. It uses electricity stored in a 60.48kWh Blade battery which gives it an ARAI certified range of 521Kms. It can fast charge from 0-80% SoC within a time of 50 minutes. The Blade battery in it is claimed to be best-in-class and provides better range and efficiency than other EV batteries. BYD has also given it an AWD powertrain which makes it the second mass market EV in India to receive it after the Kia EV6.
In terms of safety, BYD has loaded the Atto 3 with a host of safety features and Level 2 ADAS. These include 7 airbags, ABS, ESC, Traction Control, Lane Keep Assist, Automatic Emergency Braking, Forward Collision Warning, Adaptive Cruise Control, Blind spot detection and much more. A 360 degree camera and all 4 disc brakes are also on offer.
Other convenience features include a 12.8 inch rotating central touchscreen, panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, wireless Apple Carplay, Powered driver and co-driver seats, wireless charger, fully LED lighting, heated mirrors, 8 speaker sound system, key card and more.
While prices have not been revealed yet, we expect the Atto 3 to be priced between Rs. 27-35 Lakhs (Ex-showroom). It is available to book any of the 15 BYD dealerships in the country for an amount of Rs. 50,000 with the first batch of 500 cars to be delivered in January 2023.
