Kawasaki India has unveiled its W175 in the country. The new two wheeler takes inspiration from Kawasaki motorcycles of the past, possessing an “authentic retro look” as the company calls it.
The bike, designed and manufactured completely in India, marks Kawasaki’s re-entry into the mainstream segment. The new W175 has at its heart a 177cc single cylinder fuel injected engine making 13PS of max power and 13.3Nm of torque, mated to a 5-speed gearbox. Coming in at two separate variants, customers can get the new Kawasaki in an Ebony-coloured “Standard” and ‘Candy Persimmon Red’-coloured “Special Edition” guises.
Although the models take inspirations plenty from previous Kawasaki’s, the Japanese manufacturer has made good use of its opportunity to put modern elements into the bike. A semi-digital Retro Style speedometer comes adjacent to a bright multi-reflector headlamp. The W175 comes fitted with dual calliper Front Disc brakes with single channel ABS and dual shock rear suspension.
The semi-double cradle frame configuration of the motorcycle is designed for Indian roads, says Kawasaki. Both variants also come with 17-inch spoke wheels, front and back.
Deliveries of the new W175 to commence in December, with the Standard model starting at an introductory price of INR 1,47,000 and Special Edition at INR 1,49,000 (ex-showroom).
