Kia’s answer to the Vitara Brezza is based on the successful Hyundai Venue. It will also share the powertrain options with the Venue. We expect to see the same 120PS 1.2-litre T-GDI motor along with the 1.5-litre diesel engine. The Sonet is also expected to have a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine.
The Kia Sonet was unveiled in the pre-production avatar but the company said that the exteriors of the car would be 90% untouched for the production-spec. Interiors of the car were not revealed but expect it to be something cool and funky. The manufacturer has decided to sell this car as an urban commuter. Though the pandemic has delayed other projects, Kia is confident that they will be successful in launching the production car by the festive season this year i.e. August-October 2020.
In terms of features, the Sonet will be offered with a 10.25-inch infotainment system, connected car technology, climate control, and a Bose sound system. Other expected features include Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a wireless phone charger, cruise control, a multi-info display, and keyless entry with push-button start. Expected safety features include six airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, and a rearview camera.
