Maruti Suzuki has finally launched the CNG variant of their Swift hatchback after it was spied testing multiple times. It starts at Rs. 7.77 Lakhs (ex-showroom)
The Swift S-CNG variant remains powered by the same K-Series 1.2L DualJet engine from the regular swift. However, here it can also run on CNG. Maruti has also given it dual interdependent ECUs and a retuned suspension. Maruti also says that the safety of the CNG system has further been enhanced with stainless steel pipes and joints to avoid corrosion and any kind of leakage in the entire CNG structure and integrated wire harnesses are used to eliminate short-circuiting. A safety switch has also been given to prevent the car from starting while in the process of filing CNG. The Swift CNG produces 76HP and 98.5NM while running on CNG mode which is down from 88HP and 113NM on Petrol mode. Maruti also claims it provides a fuel economy of 30.90 Km/kg. It receives a 5 speed manual transmission.
The new Swift S-CNG has been launched in two variants- Vxi and Zxi priced at Rs. 7.77 Lakhs and Rs. 8.45 Lakhs respectively (ex-showroom Delhi). It rivals the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios CNG and Tata Tiago i-CNG. Maruti is also offering a subscription service starting at Rs. 16,499 per month which includes the cost of complete registration, service & maintenance, insurance and roadside assistance.
