Porsche has taken the wraps off its latest version of the high-performance 911 variant, the GT3RS. The new GT3RS brings with it various changes and performance additions along with a comprehensive refresh.
The new GT3RS is now based on the latest 992 generation of Porsche’s legendary sportscar- the 911, It remains powered by Porsche’s signature 4.0L flat-six naturally aspirated motor which is mated to a 7 speed dual-clutch PDK transmission. This combo produces 518HP which can take the car from 0-100 kmph in a fast 3.2 seconds before hitting a top speed of 296Kmph. Additionally, the gear ratios are also shorter compared to its less hardcore sibling- the GT3 to improve performance.
Porsche has also made various changes which include extensive use of CFRP(Carbon Fibre Reinforced Polymer) all over the car and lightweight construction which make sure the car only weighs 1,450 KGs. The car is also fitted with a massive rear wing which extends 6 feet wide and ends above the roof. This wing provides upto 860KGs of downforce at 285Kmph. The new GT3RS also becomes the first production Porsche to feature a drag reduction system which actively aids in improving aerodynamics.
In terms of options, the Clubsport package is being offered as a no-cost option which adds a steel rollover bar, a hand-held fire extinguisher and six-point seat belts for the driver. Additionally a Weissach package is also being offered at a cost which includes carbon weaved bonnet, exterior mirrors and rear wing. It also gets a rollbar, gearshift paddles with magnet technology for better feel and magnesium forged wheels which are 8Kgs lighter.
The new 992 Porsche 911 GT3RS has been priced at Rs. 3.25 Cr in India and will be competing with the Lamborghini Huracan Tecnica and the upcoming McLaren Artura among others.
