Royal Enfield has taken wraps off their latest cruiser, known as the Super Meteor 650 at EICMA 2022. It will be placed at the top of Royal Enfield’s lineup to become their new flagship.
Powertrain
The new Super Meteor 650 is based on a new platform which includes an all-new frame, new mapping for the engine and gear ratios. A 648cc motor powers the Super Meteor. The engine produces 47HP at 7,250rpm and 52Nm at 5,650rpm and is shared with the Interceptor and GT650. The Super Meteor also becomes the first Royal Enfield ever to get USD forks. A 320mm disc at the front and a 300mm at the rear handle braking duties. A dual-channel ABS system is standard. It also receives a large 15.7 litre fuel tank. Royal Enfield will also provide standard, a low set 740mm seat with forward set footpegs for enhanced rider comfort.
Features
In terms of features, the Super Meteor 650 also becomes the first Royal Enfield to receive a full-LED headlight. The Tripper Navigation pod is also a standard fitment as are the 19 inch/16 inch alloys wheels shod with tubeless CEAT tyres.
The Super Meteor will be available in two variants- standard and tourer. The standard being available with the choice of Astral Black, Astral Blue, Astral Green, Interstellar Grey and Interstellar Green colour options and will receive a stripped down look. The tourer variant gets a more traditional cruiser look with a pillion backrest and windscreen. It will be available in Celestial Red and Celestial Blue colours.
Launch
Though Royal Enfield hasn’t revealed much further details, we can expect them later this month when it will be unveiled in India. The Super Meteor is expected to launch in the first quarter of 2023 with an expected pricing of 3.5-4 Lakhs (Ex-showroom).
