Few details of upcoming Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 have been revealed according to a report. It also includes a hint towards a more hardcore rally-spec version.
According to the report, it is poised to have a 450cc, liquid cooled, single cylinder engine which will produce around 40HP and 45NM. It will be offered with a 6-speed gearbox with a slipper clutch as well. The fuel tank will have a capacity of 20 litres.
Other details include 3 riding modes- Road, Rain, Offroad with the latter turning off the rear ABS, ride-by-wire technology, a vertical instrument cluster USD forks and 21 inch front and 17 inch rear wheels along with specially developed CEAT tyres. A lot of touring focused accessories are also expected.
The bike is expected to be priced from Rs. 2.7 Lakhs (ex-showroom) when it launches next year.
In addition, the report further states that Royal Enfield is looking to make a hardcore Raid version with which they plan to contest in the Dakar Rally. This version, codenamed the K1X receives an upgraded suspension, spoke wheels with tubeless tyres, a power rating of around 50HP as well as an extra fuel tank.
There’s also a possibility of a production version which could come in 2025-26.
The Himalayan is Royal Enfield’s ADV on sale currently. It is powered by a 411cc single cylinder engine producing 24.3HP. Its chief rivals are the KTM 250 Adventure, Suzuki V-Strom SX and the Bajaj Dominar among others
