Porsche is a carmaker well-known to make some of the most iconic stuff of all time. And what could be more characteristically Porsche than the 911 range? We had the opportunity to try out every flavour of the 911 right from the standard, purist Carerra, to the GTS Hybrid— a true marvel of technology topping it up with the enthusiast favourite GT3RS. That’s not all though. The tasty GT4RS, arguably a more nimble and agile track weapon also made an appearance as did the full range of modern electrics, including the Taycan and Macan EVs.

However, before I talk about the track, Porsche had a surprise waiting for us. Our first task for the day— taking the Cayenne range of SUVs off-road! With a curated off-road track with obstacles such as chicken holes, steep climbs, banking angles and more, the Cayenne frankly felt extremely capable. Now who would think a Porsche would perform so well off the beaten path?

Next up was the track day, a marvellous two laps in the EVs, 911s and the GT4RS each felt surreal. Now, each car was incredibly fun although I still felt more of a connect with the purist favourite Carrera. There’s just something about an unadulterated experience that truly stands out. A simply flat-six, comfortable suspension yet with the raunchy looks, the oh-so-tight handling and the ability to go really fast. The GT3RS was a whole different spectrum however. A track weapon like none-else, one simply wonders how it could be bettered in the next avatar? It’s a bit too perfect— even for a Porsche! Something to ponder about.

A quick briefing later, it was time to experience the glory of electrification with the Taycan Turbo GT. Holding the title of the fastest production electric on the Yas Marina Circuit, Dubai, the 2.2 second 0-100kmph time sounds unrealistic. But when the car squats down preparing to launch itself, you realise it means business. Oh and business it meant. With an absolute razor sharp response, its speed feels like it might just beat the latest Apollo spacecraft. There must be some sorcery involved in developing the technology behind it!

The last task for the day was a quick slalom course in the 718 Spyder RS. While just recovering from the bone-tingling Turbo GT run, it provides a completely different perspective. That of absolute precision and how Porsche makes such good-handling cars. It’s not a small car, but it feels like driving a motorcycle— so quick on its feet. A bit sad though that the course got over much before I wanted to let go of the car!

Concluding the day with an extensive shoot of the entire lineup, it felt a bit of an iconic day. Just like the Porsche brand is etched in every enthusiasts mind worldwide, here I was getting to experience the DNA one car at a time.

The Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) plan has also been updated. While the battery rental rate remains at Rs 4.5 per kilometre, the vehicle’s starting price under this scheme has increased from Rs 12.50 lakh to Rs 13.09 lakh.

The Windsor Pro is powered by a 52.9 kWh battery, offering a claimed range of 449 km per charge. It uses a motor rated at 136 hp and 200 Nm of torque. Charging options include a 7.4kW AC charger that takes approximately 9.5 hours and a 60kW DC fast charger that charges from 20% to 80% in 50 minutes.

New features include Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) and Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) charging functions. The model also receives updated 18-inch alloy wheels and three new paint options: Celadon Blue, Glaze Red, and Aurora Silver. The interior now sports a dual-tone ivory and black theme.

Existing features such as the 15.6-inch touchscreen, 8.8-inch digital display, panoramic sunroof, wireless charger, 9-speaker Infinity audio system, 360-degree camera, electronic parking brake, and six airbags remain. A powered tailgate is a new addition.

A key upgrade is the addition of ADAS Level 2, which includes adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, autonomous emergency braking, and other driver assistance technologies.

Interested individuals can book the MG Cyberster or M9 by paying a refundable token amount of Rs 51,000. Bookings can be made through 13 MG Select dealerships located in major cities like Mumbai, Delhi, and Bengaluru, or via the company’s official website. MG Cyberster is expected to be launched in India this month i.e., April 2025 whereas the M9 will make its debut sometime in May.

MG Cyberster

The MG Cyberster will feature a 77kWh battery pack measuring just 110mm in thickness. It comes paired with dual oil-cooled electric motors – one on each axle producing a combined 510hp of power and 725Nm torque. It gets AWD and can sprint from 0-100kph in just 3.2 seconds. MG claims a maximum range of 580km on a single charge (CLTC cycle). The EV will feature a front double-wishbone suspension and a rear five-link independent suspension. Stability at high speeds is enhanced by an evenly balanced 50:50 weight distribution between the front and rear.

The cabin boasts three screens, including a vertically positioned infotainment display designed with a driver-focused tilt. Key features include wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, built-in 5G connectivity, connected car technology, wireless charging, dual-zone climate control, ventilated seats, and a high-end Bose sound system. Additionally, it comes equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 processor, regenerative braking, multiple airbags, and Level-2 ADAS for enhanced safety. The Cyberster’s scissor doors are fitted with radars on both sides, allowing them to open both upwards and outwards while ensuring optimal safety.

MG M9

The M9 will be the second model available through MG’s exclusive ‘Select’ premium retail network, following the Cyberster. Built on a front-wheel-drive platform, the M9 is powered by a front-mounted electric motor paired with a 90kWh lithium battery. This setup produces 245hp and 350Nm of torque, offering a claimed WLTP range of 430km.

Available in both 7- and 8-seater configurations, the M9 comes packed with premium features, including two sunroofs—a single-pane unit at the front and a dual-pane setup for rear passengers. The front and rear seats are electronically adjustable and offer heating, ventilation, massage functions, and fold-out ottoman support. Other key highlights include power-operated rear sliding doors, rear entertainment screens, and Level 2 ADAS for advanced safety and driver assistance.

Revealed globally in May 2024, the facelifted EV6 features a larger battery for extended range, a refreshed exterior design, and an updated dashboard. The front end now sports angular LED daytime running lights with V-shaped DRLs, a redesigned bumper, and a revised lower grille. The side profile gets new alloy wheels, while the rear remains mostly unchanged, except for an updated taillight and bumper design.

Inside, the cabin layout is largely retained but includes a new curved panoramic display integrating the digital instrument cluster and infotainment system. A fingerprint scanner on the steering wheel allows registered users to drive without a key. Additional features include over-the-air updates, AI-powered navigation, a digital rearview mirror, wireless charging, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, connected car technology, Level 2 ADAS, and remote park assist.

The EV6 now comes with an 84 kWh battery, replacing the previous 77.5 kWh unit, the same as in the Hyundai Ioniq 5. The rear-wheel-drive (RWD) variant, equipped with a single motor generating 225 hp and 350 Nm of torque, offers an increased range of up to 494 km, up from 474 km. The dual-motor version delivers 320 hp and 605 Nm of torque. With a 350 kW DC fast charger, the battery can charge from 0 to 80% in 18 minutes.

Variants and Feature Upgrades

The latest Comet EV is available in five trims: Executive, Excite, Excite Fast Charge, Exclusive, and Exclusive Fast Charge. The Excite and Excite Fast Charge variants now come equipped with a rear parking camera and power-folding ORVMs. Meanwhile, the Exclusive and Exclusive Fast Charge models feature leatherette seats and a four-speaker audio system.

Notable features in the 2025 MG Comet EV include dual 10.25-inch screens for infotainment and digital instrumentation, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, connected car technology, manual air conditioning, a rotary drive selector, keyless entry, and steering-mounted controls. The vehicle also boasts over 55 connected car features for enhanced convenience.

Safety and Performance

In terms of safety, the Comet EV is well-equipped with ABS, EBD, a tyre pressure monitoring system, reverse camera and sensors, dual front airbags, electronic parking brake, electronic stability control (ESC), ISOFIX child seat mounts, all four disc brakes, and hill-hold assist.

Under the hood, the EV features a 17.3 kWh battery pack paired with a single electric motor, delivering 42 hp and 110 Nm of torque to the rear wheels. The battery, which is IP67-rated for water and dust resistance, offers an ARAI-certified range of 230 km.

Comet Blackstorm Edition and Warranty Details

Alongside the standard model, MG has also introduced the Comet Blackstorm edition, priced from Rs 7.80 lakh with BaaS. This special edition sports a Starry Black exterior with dark chrome elements, black badges, and red accents. Inside, it features leatherette seats with Blackstorm embroidery.

The 2025 Comet EV is covered under the MG e-Shield program, which includes a 3-year or 1 lakh km vehicle warranty, 3 years of roadside assistance, and three complimentary labor services for scheduled maintenance. Additionally, the battery pack is backed by an 8-year or 1.2 lakh km warranty, ensuring long-term reliability for owners.

Performance and Battery Details

The Taycan RWD is equipped with an 89 kWh battery pack and a single electric motor mounted on the rear axle, generating 408 hp and 410 Nm of torque. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.8 seconds and reaches a top speed of 230 km/h. In contrast, the 4S and Turbo versions feature a larger 105 kWh battery and a dual-motor configuration.

The 4S variant produces 537 bhp and 695 Nm of torque when launch control is engaged, while the Turbo version delivers an impressive 872 bhp and 890 Nm. Porsche claims the Turbo model can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.7 seconds, whereas the 4S achieves the same in 3.7 seconds. The 4S has an electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h, while the Turbo can reach 260 km/h. When equipped with the Performance Plus battery, the 4S offers a claimed range of 642 km, while the Turbo variant provides an estimated range of 630 km.

Notably, the Simple One S is priced Rs 6,000 lower than the previous model. It is powered by a 3.7kWh fixed battery paired with an 8.5kW PMSM motor, offering a claimed range of 181 km under the Indian Driving Cycle—about 30 km more than its predecessor. According to the company, the scooter accelerates from 0 to 40 km/h in 2.5 seconds, compared to 2.77 seconds previously, and it reaches a top speed of 105 km/h. Riders can choose from four different modes: Eco, Ride, Dash, and Sonic.

On the tech front, the scooter features a 7-inch TFT touchscreen display with Bluetooth connectivity and navigation support. It also includes advanced features like a tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) and park assist. Mechanically, the Simple One S is equipped with a telescopic front fork and a centrally mounted mono-shock at the rear with preload adjustment, along with disc brakes at both the front and rear. With a seat height of 770 mm and a generous 35-litre under-seat storage, the scooter is designed for both comfort and practicality.

Customers can skip the charger purchase if they lack the necessary infrastructure for a private charging setup, already own a compatible charger that meets Mahindra’s safety standards, or are part of a household buying multiple Mahindra electric SUVs and sharing a single charging unit. Those who do not meet these criteria can still choose from Mahindra’s charger options—a 7.2kW AC charger priced at ₹50,000 or an 11.2kW AC charger for ₹75,000.

The Mahindra XEV 9e will come with two battery options: a 59kWh and a 79kWh unit, both utilizing Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) chemistry. This model is based on Mahindra’s scalable INGLO platform, which integrates a ‘compact three-in-one powertrain’ that combines a motor, inverter, and transmission. According to Mahindra, the 79kWh battery can be charged from 20% to 80% in just 20 minutes using a 175kW DC fast charger, while the 59kWh battery achieves the same charge level in 20 minutes with a 140kW DC fast charger. The 79kWh variant is claimed to offer a range of 656km on the MIDC cycle, while the European WLTP cycle estimates a range of 533km.

The XEV 9e comes equipped with an 11kW onboard charger, with additional 7.2kW and 11kW charger options available. Using the 7.2kW charger, the 59kWh battery takes 8.7 hours to fully charge, while the 11kW charger reduces this time to 6 hours. For the 79kWh battery, the 7.2kW charger takes 11.7 hours, whereas the 11kW charger completes the charge in 8 hours. The 79kWh version is powered by a 286hp motor producing 380Nm of torque, driving the rear wheels and achieving 0-100 kmph in 6.8 seconds. The 59kWh variant features a 231hp motor.

Similarly, the BE 6e offers both 59kWh and 79kWh battery options, with the larger pack delivering a WLTP range of 550km—exceeding that of the XEV 9e. It generates 288bhp and 380Nm of torque, with a 0-100 kmph acceleration time of 6.7 seconds.

Built on a new platform, the Tesseract is powered by a 20.1 bhp electric motor and offers a range of up to 261 km per charge, depending on the chosen battery pack. It comes with three battery options: 3.5kWh, 5kWh, and 6kWh. The scooter accelerates from 0-60 kmph in 2.9 seconds and has a top speed of 125 kmph. Its battery can charge from 0 to 80% in under an hour.

The model features a 7-inch touchscreen TFT console with onboard navigation, dual dashcams, wireless charging, haptic feedback, dual-channel ABS, traction control, and hill hold assist. It also includes dynamic stability control.

Manufactured at the company’s Halol facility in Gujarat, the Windsor EV is seeing strong demand, prompting MG to ramp up production. However, a temporary slowdown is expected this month as the facility undergoes upgrades. These enhancements are being made in preparation for the launch of two new models under the MG Select channel, set to debut in the first half of 2025.

The Windsor EV is powered by a 38kWh LFP battery paired with a front-mounted motor, delivering 136hp and 200Nm of torque. It offers a claimed range of 331 km and features four driving modes: Eco+, Eco, Normal, and Sport. Fast charging via a 45kW charger allows the battery to go from 0 to 80 percent in just 55 minutes. Additionally, it supports 3.3kW and 7.7kW AC chargers, which fully charge the battery in approximately 14 hours and 6.5 hours, respectively.

On the feature front, the Windsor EV comes equipped with a 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system, an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, wireless charging, rear AC vents, ventilated front seats, a powered driver’s seat, a 9-speaker Infinity sound system, a panoramic glass roof, ambient lighting, and more.

For safety, it includes six airbags, ABS with EBD, all-around disc brakes, front and rear parking sensors, electronic stability control (ESC), and a 360-degree camera.

Speaking on the occasion, Biju Balendran, Deputy Managing Director, JSW MG Motor India said, “We are delighted with the response that the MG Windsor has been receiving and are grateful to our customers who have helped us cross the 15,000-unit production milestone. The CUV has been widely accepted by car buyers for its overall pricing and packaging, and for offering a luxurious business-class experience to customers. Smart initiatives such as BaaS, the buyback program, and a lifetime warranty, have all boosted consumer confidence in EVs. As we diversify our portfolio, we remain committed to bringing quality products to our customers at a faster rate.”

“Consequently, we are increasing the capacity of the facility at Halol to meet the rising demand for Windsor. Additionally, we are undertaking certain facility modifications to ensure readiness for new products under MG Select which is due for launch in the first half of this year. Hence, we anticipate a production slowdown during the month of February, which may temporarily affect our wholesales during this period”, he added further.
