Nissan India has launched the much awaited Nissan Tekton mid size SUV at Rs 10.49 lakh (ex showroom). It is Nissan’s badge engineered version of the Renault Duster. Bookings for the mid size SUV are now open, while customer deliveries will begin from July 20.

The Tekton is the brand’s second product launch this year after the Gravite compact MPV, which made its debut in February. Nissan has also confirmed that it will introduce another new product by the end of the first quarter of next year as part of its renewed product strategy for the Indian market.

Nissan Tekton – Exterior Design

The Nissan Tekton gets a completely redesigned front fascia that draws heavy inspiration from the flagship Nissan Patrol, giving the SUV a more upright and muscular appearance compared to the Renault Duster. The front features an upright grille with twin chrome slats, flanked by slim LED headlamps. Connecting both headlamps is a full width C shaped LED daytime running light, while a distinctive red accent strip sits below the headlamp units. The lower bumper receives a dual tone finish along with LED fog lamps and a silver skid plate.

Viewed from the side, the overall silhouette remains similar to the Duster, but Nissan has added its own identity with newly designed 18 inch alloy wheels. The SUV also features flared wheel arches and a silver trim insert on the front doors. Conventional pull type handles are used for the front doors, while the rear door handles are neatly integrated into the C pillars.

The Nissan Tekton measures 4348 mm in length, 1815 mm in width and 1674 mm in height. It has a wheelbase of 2657 mm and offers 212 mm of ground clearance, making it one of the more capable offerings in the segment.

At the rear, the SUV gets a full width LED light bar integrated into C shaped tail lamps, matching the design language seen at the front. A roof mounted spoiler sits above the tailgate, while the rear bumper also features a dual tone finish with a silver skid plate. The Nissan Tekton is available in Onyx Black, Blade Silver, Pearl White, Flare Garnet Red, Indigo Blue and Moonbow Gray. Every colour is offered in both monotone and dual tone finishes.

Nissan Tekton – Interior Design and Features

Inside, the top variants of the Nissan Tekton receive a dual tone rose gold and burgundy dashboard that gives the cabin a premium appearance. The SUV comes with a three spoke steering wheel, a 10.1 inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 10.25 inch fully digital instrument cluster. The cabin features a dual tone cream and burgundy theme with leatherette upholstery, complemented by rose gold accents across the dashboard and centre console

The feature list includes a panoramic sunroof, wireless phone charger, powered tailgate and six way powered and ventilated front seats. Other convenience features include dual zone climate control, a massive 700 litre boot, 32 litres of in cabin storage, Google Built in infotainment with more than 200 supported apps, remote engine start and Find My Car functionality. Like the exterior proportions, the cabin layout is largely carried over from the Renault Duster, with Nissan adding its own colours and trim finishes

Nissan Tekton – Powertrain and Safety

The Nissan Tekton shares its engines with the Renault Duster. The entry level 1.0 litre three cylinder turbo petrol engine develops 100 hp and 166 Nm of torque and is paired with a six speed manual gearbox.

Customers looking for more performance can opt for the 1.3 litre four cylinder turbo petrol engine that produces 163 hp and 280 Nm of torque. This engine is available with either a six speed manual transmission or a six speed dual clutch automatic gearbox.

Nissan claims the 1.0 litre engine accelerates from 0 to 100 kmph in 12.46 seconds while delivering a claimed fuel efficiency of 19.4 kmpl. The 1.3 litre manual completes the same sprint in 9.51 seconds and offers a claimed fuel efficiency of 17.8 kmpl. The DCT version does the sprint in 9.89 seconds and delivers a claimed mileage of 18.5 kmpl.

The Nissan Tekton has also secured a five star Bharat NCAP safety rating. Safety equipment includes adaptive cruise control, 360 degree surround view camera and ADAS functions such as autonomous emergency braking, lane keep assist and blind spot warning.

Nissan Tekton – Variants and Pricing

The Nissan Tekton is offered across six variants with three powertrain-transmission choices.

The entry level Visia variant with the 1.0 litre turbo petrol manual is priced at Rs 10.49 lakh. The top spec Tekna Plus variant is priced at Rs 16.49 lakh with the 1.0 litre manual and Rs 18.59 lakh with the 1.3 litre DCT. All prices are ex showroom.

Nissan Tekton – Market Positioning and Rivals

Bookings for the Nissan Tekton are now open, with deliveries scheduled to begin from July 20th. Nissan is offering a five year Nissan Care warranty package consisting of three years standard warranty and an additional two years extended coverage.
With aggressive pricing and a long list of features, the Nissan Tekton enters one of the most competitive segments in the country.

Nissan is all set to globally unveil the much awaited Nissan Tekton mid size SUV tomorrow. The Tekton name was first revealed in 2025 when Nissan confirmed that the new SUV would arrive by mid 2026. Going by the latest timeline, the company appears to be on track with its plans. The SUV has been spotted testing on multiple occasions and Nissan has also released several teaser images in the lead up to its global debut.

Nissan refers to the Tekton as the “Baby Patrol” as the SUV draws significant design inspiration from the flagship Nissan Patrol. The new SUV will be based on the Renault Duster and is expected to share several components and underpinnings with it. The Tekton also serves as a spiritual successor to the Nissan Terrano, which itself was based on the first generation Renault Duster sold in India.

Nissan Tekton – Expected Exterior Design

Based on the latest undisguised spy shots, teaser images released recently and the design previews shared in 2025, the Nissan Tekton takes heavy inspiration from the Nissan Patrol. The front features a sculpted bonnet along with C shaped LED headlamps that closely resemble those seen on the larger Patrol. A large grille, upright proportions and a chunky lower bumper further enhance its rugged appearance while giving the SUV a stronger road presence.

At the rear, the styling closely matches the teaser images previously released by Nissan. A full width LED light bar stretches across the tailgate and seamlessly connects the LED tail lamps on either side. The lighting signature appears identical to what Nissan previewed in its official teaser campaign. At the centre sits the Nissan logo, while Tekton lettering is prominently embossed across the lower portion of the tailgate.

Spyshot Image

Viewed from the side, the SUV carries a muscular stance with squared wheel arches and a distinctive Double C shaped accent on the front doors. The overall proportions closely resemble those of the Renault Duster, confirming the shared platform and architecture.

Nissan Tekton – Expected Interior Design and Features

Complete interior details are yet to be revealed. Since the SUV shares its platform with the Renault Duster, the feature list is also expected to be similar. Expected equipment includes a 10.1 inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.25 inch digital instrument cluster, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, electric front seats with ventilation and several connected car features. These features are currently based on expectations and speculation. The complete equipment list and technical specifications will only be confirmed during the launch tommorow.

As the Tekton is based on the Renault Duster, it is expected to use the same engine options. The Duster is offered with three powertrain choices.

The entry level option is expected to be a 1.0 litre turbo petrol engine producing 100 hp and 160 Nm of torque.

Kia India has expanded the Kia Seltos lineup with the introduction of the new GTX(O) and X Line(O) variants, with prices starting from Rs. 21.56 lakh (ex showroom). These new top specification variants bring additional features and technology over the existing range while building on the SUV’s recent 5 Star Bharat NCAP safety rating. Kia had launched the second generation Seltos in India earlier this year, and the latest update further strengthens its position in the highly competitive midsize SUV segment. .

Kia Seltos – Exterior Design

The Kia Seltos continues with its bold and modern styling inspired by the brand’s latest global SUV design language. The front fascia is dominated by a wide grille with vertical gunmetal finished elements that give the SUV a more upright appearance. On either side are box shaped LED headlamps, while the vertically stacked LED DRLs feature a distinctive lightning inspired signature that extends towards the bumper. The lower section of the bumper gets black cladding along with neatly integrated fog lamp surrounds.

In profile, the Seltos features pronounced character lines and prominent wheel arch cladding that add to its muscular stance. Flush fitting door handles give the SUV a cleaner look while also improving aerodynamics. Towards the rear, the signature window line merges into a black trim element that visually extends the rear glass into the tailgate, giving the SUV a more premium appearance.

Kia Seltos – New Variants Explained

The biggest highlight of the new top-spec GTX(O) and X Line(O) variants is the introduction of Kia’s ADAS F+ package, which now offers 28 advanced driver assistance features. These include Front Collision Avoidance Assist Junction Crossing, Front Collision Avoidance Assist Lane Change Oncoming, Front Collision Avoidance Assist Lane Change Side, Front Collision Avoidance Assist with Evasive Steering Assist, Navigation Based Smart Cruise Control Zone, Navigation Based Smart Cruise Control Curve, and Highway Driving Assist.

Apart from the enhanced safety package, both variants also receive several premium convenience features. These include the Connected Car Navigation Cockpit, Kia Connect 2.0 with more than 85 connected features, voice enabled controls supporting multiple regional languages, Digital Key, Head Up Display with windshield projection, Smart Air Purifier with AQI display, rain sensing wipers, Smart Dashcam with front and rear cameras that can be accessed through a mobile application, and one touch auto up and down function with safety protection for all four power windows.

Kia Seltos – New Variants Powertrain Options

The new GTX(O) and X Line(O) variants continue to be offered with both turbo petrol and diesel engine options. The 1.5 litre turbo petrol engine produces 160 hp and 253 Nm of torque and is paired with a seven speed dual clutch automatic transmission.

Customers opting for the diesel version get the 1.5 litre engine producing 116 hp and 250 Nm of torque. It is available with either a six speed manual gearbox or a six speed torque converter automatic transmission.

Kia Seltos – Interior Design and Features

The cabin of the Kia Seltos continues to offer a modern layout with a strong focus on technology and everyday usability. The dashboard is centred around dual 12.3 inch displays comprising the infotainment touchscreen and the fully digital instrument cluster. Below them sits a dedicated 5 inch display for the climate control system.

Kia also offers physical buttons and rotary controls for key functions, making the cabin practical to use while driving. The three spoke steering wheel, premium upholstery and well integrated technology continue to give the Seltos one of the more feature rich interiors in its segment.

Kia Seltos – Market Positioning and Rivals

With the addition of the new GTX(O) and X Line(O) variants, Kia aims to further strengthen the Seltos at the premium end of the midsize SUV segment. It will continue to rival the Hyundai Creta, Tata Sierra, Renault Duster, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Maruti Suzuki Victoris, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, Honda Elevate and MG Astor.

The post 2026 Kia Seltos Gets New GTX(O) and X-Line(O) Variants With More Features: Details first appeared on Shutterdrives.

The post 2026 Kia Seltos Gets New GTX(O) and X-Line(O) Variants With More Features: Details appeared first on Shutterdrives.

The company stated that the revision has been necessitated due to rising input costs and increasing operational expenditure. While prices will go up across the lineup, Kia says it has absorbed a significant portion of the increased costs internally to minimize the impact on customers.

Kia India Price Revision From July 1st

The brand said it remains committed to offering customers best in class products and a strong ownership experience. According to the company, the increase will vary depending on the model and variant. The automaker has not revealed model wise price revisions at this stage.

The latest price revision will apply to all vehicles sold by Kia India, including internal combustion and electric models. The company currently sells the Sonet, Syros, Seltos, Carens, Carens Clavis, Carnival, EV6 and EV9 in the Indian market.

Kia India Says Increase Kept To Minimum

Kia India stated that it has made efforts to keep the increase as low as possible despite higher manufacturing and operational expenses. The company added that maintaining the value proposition of each product remains a priority.

The extent of the price increase will vary depending on the model and variant. Although Kia India has not disclosed exact figures, we expect the increase to start from around Rs 14,000 for the entry level Kia Sonet compact SUV. At the other end of the range, the flagship Kia EV9 electric SUV, which is imported into India through the Completely Built Unit route, could see a price increase of around Rs 2.6 lakh.

Nissan India has teased the upcoming Nissan Tekton mid size SUV and confirmed that the SUV will make its global debut on July 9, 2026. The Tekton name was first revealed in 2025, when Nissan announced that the new SUV would arrive by mid 2026. Going by the latest timeline, the company appears to be on track with its plans.

Nissan refers to the Tekton as a “Baby Patrol” as the SUV draws significant design inspiration from the flagship Nissan Patrol.

Based on the teaser images released recently and the design previews shared in 2025, the Nissan Tekton takes heavy inspiration from the Nissan Patrol. The front end features a sculpted bonnet along with C shaped LED headlamps that resemble those on the larger Patrol. A chunky lower bumper further adds to its upright and rugged appearance.

In profile, the SUV is expected to have a muscular stance with a distinctive Double C shaped accent on the front doors. At the rear, the Tekton gets connected tail lamps joined by a red illuminated lightbar, giving the SUV a modern look. Overall, Nissan appears to be positioning the Tekton as a premium and rugged offering in the mid size SUV segment.

Nissan Tekton – Expected Interior Design and Features

Complete interior details are yet to be revealed. However, Nissan has stated that the Tekton will feature premium materials and refined finishes. The cabin is expected to focus on comfort, convenience and practicality. Since the SUV shares its platform with the Renault Duster, the feature list could be similar as well.

Renault Duster Interior shown for reference

Expected equipment includes a 10.1 inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.25 inch digital instrument cluster, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, electric front seats with ventilation and several connected car features. These features are currently based on expectations and speculations. The complete equipment list and specifications will only be confirmed at launch.

Nissan Tekton – Expected Powertrain

As the Tekton is based on the Renault Duster, it is likely to use the same engine options. The Duster is expected to be offered with three powertrain choices globally. The entry level option is a 1.0 litre turbo petrol engine producing 100 hp and 160 Nm of torque. This engine is paired with a six speed manual transmission. A more powerful 1.3 litre turbo petrol engine develops 163 hp and 280 Nm of torque and is expected to come with a six speed automatic transmission.

The Duster lineup also includes a hybrid variant, although complete technical details of that powertrain are yet to be disclosed. These engines are expected to find their way into the Nissan Tekton as well, but exact specifications can only be confirmed once the SUV is officially unveiled.

Nissan Tekton – Market Positioning and Rivals

The Nissan Tekton will compete in the highly competitive mid size SUV segment. Its global debut is scheduled for July 9, 2026. In India, the SUV will rival models such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Tata Sierra, Renault Duster, Skoda Kushaq, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Victoris, Volkswagen Taigun, MG Astor and Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder.

With styling inspired by the Patrol the Nissan Tekton aims to attract buyers looking for a rugged yet refined family SUV. More details regarding the design, features and powertrain are expected to be revealed during its global debut next month.

The post 2026 Nissan Tekton Teased: “Baby Patrol” to Launch on this Date first appeared on Shutterdrives.

The post 2026 Nissan Tekton Teased: “Baby Patrol” to Launch on this Date appeared first on Shutterdrives.

The mid-size SUV segment has become one of the most hotly contested spaces of the Indian passenger vehicle market. Buyers today are no longer limited to just a few familiar models. Instead, the segment now offers a wide range of options, each with a different focus. Some SUVs emphasise comfort and features, others focus on engine choices and performance, while a few are positioned as value-for-money alternatives. Among the most widely discussed models in this segment are the Kia Seltos, Hyundai Creta, Tata Sierra, and Maruti Suzuki Victoris.

While all four sit broadly within a similar footprint and price band, their approaches differ significantly when it comes to pricing, variant lineup and powertrain options. This comparison looks beyond brand perception and marketing narratives and focuses on what matters most to buyers: how much these SUVs cost, what engines they offer, how their variants are structured, and which one delivers the most accessible entry point into the segment.

Mid Size SUV Comparo – Price Overview and Market Positioning

At an ex-showroom level, the Maruti Suzuki Victoris is the most affordable SUV among the four. Its pricing starts at approximately ₹10.5 lakh, positioning it as the entry-level option in this comparison. The Hyundai Creta follows closely, with a starting price of around ₹10.7 lakh. Kia’s Seltos begins slightly higher at just under ₹11 lakh, while the Tata Sierra enters the segment at a noticeably higher starting point of roughly ₹11.5 lakh.

This difference of nearly ₹1 lakh between the Victoris and the Sierra at the base level is not insignificant, especially for buyers upgrading from compact SUVs or premium hatchbacks. In real-world terms, it often translates into a higher down payment or a longer loan tenure. At the other end of the spectrum, the price gap narrows. The Creta, Seltos and Victoris all top out close to the ₹20 lakh mark, while the Sierra stretches further, with its highest variants crossing ₹21 lakh ex-showroom.

In simple pricing terms, the Victoris is the most affordable to enter, with the Creta sitting slightly above it, the Seltos occupying middle ground, and the Sierra positioning itself as the most expensive, particularly in higher trims.

Mid Size SUV Comparo -Variant Strategy and Line-Up Depth

Maruti Suzuki’s approach with the Victoris is built around choice. The SUV is offered across a wide range of trims, covering petrol, CNG and strong hybrid powertrains. This expansive spread allows Maruti to cater to different buyer profiles, from cost-conscious urban users to those prioritising fuel efficiency and lower running costs. Even at lower trims, the Victoris maintains a relatively competitive equipment level, though its higher variants are where it begins to feel more comparable to rivals in terms of features.

Hyundai Creta continues with its familiar variant structure, offering a broad ladder that spans naturally aspirated petrol, turbo petrol and diesel engines. The Creta’s strength lies in how evenly its variants are spaced. Buyers are not forced to jump significantly in price to access popular features, and automatic transmission options are available across multiple trims. This balanced approach has been one of Creta’s key strengths over the years.

Kia Seltos takes a slightly different route. While it also offers a wide range of variants, the differentiation between trims is sharper. The Seltos places greater emphasis on its higher variants, especially those paired with turbo petrol engines and dual-clutch automatics. As a result, while the entry-level Seltos is competitively priced, its top-end variants move quickly into premium territory.

Tata Sierra’s variant strategy is more restrained. Compared to the others, the Sierra offers fewer trims, but each variant is positioned higher in terms of standard equipment. This approach reduces choice but increases perceived value at each price point. However, it also contributes to the Sierra’s higher starting price and narrower accessibility.

Mid Size SUV Comparo – Engine Options and Powertrain Choices

Engine choice is one of the key differentiators in this comparison, and each Mid Size SUV takes a distinct approach.

The Maruti Suzuki Victoris offers a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine as its core powertrain, paired with manual and automatic transmissions. In addition, it stands out by offering a factory-fitted CNG option, catering to buyers looking for lower fuel costs. The highlight, however, is its strong hybrid petrol variant, which prioritises fuel efficiency and urban drivability. This hybrid system places the Victoris in a unique position within the segment, especially for buyers with high daily usage.

Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos share a largely similar engine portfolio. Both offer a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine for buyers prioritising refinement and ease of use, a more powerful 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine aimed at performance-oriented customers, and a 1.5-litre diesel engine for those seeking torque and long-distance efficiency. Manual and automatic options are available across most configurations, though turbo petrol engines are restricted to automatic gearboxes. The Seltos also has an option of an iMT gearbox with the turbo petrol engine.

Tata Sierra’s engine line-up includes a naturally aspirated petrol, a turbo petrol and a diesel engine. The diesel option, in particular, is tuned for higher torque output, aligning with Tata’s focus on highway stability and load-carrying capability. Automatic transmissions are offered across petrol and diesel variants, though manual gearboxes remain standard in lower trims and to be noted the turbo petrol is available only with an automatic and no option of a manual transmission.

Mid Size SUV Comparo – Price Differences Across Comparable Variants

When comparing petrol manual base variants, the Victoris undercuts the Creta by approximately ₹20,000 and the Seltos by nearly ₹50,000. The Sierra, in contrast, is about ₹1 lakh more expensive than the Victoris at this level. This makes Victoris the most accessible option for first-time SUV buyers.

In petrol automatic variants, the gap narrows. Creta and Seltos are closely matched, with differences often limited to ₹30,000–₹50,000 depending on the trim. The Seltos however has a lower starting price for the petrol automatic, coming in at 13.39 lakhs ex showroom, with the Creta automatic starting at 13.89 lakhs ex showroom. The Victoris remains competitively priced but its automatic variants tend to sit slightly above the base petrol manual, starting at 13.35 lakhs ex showroom, due to drivetrain costs. Sierra continues to command a premium, particularly in automatic trims. The Sierra DCA with the petrol engine starts at 14.49 lakhs ex showroom.

Turbo petrol variants show a clearer separation. The Kia Seltos often emerges as the most aggressively priced turbo petrol automatic coming in at 15.49 lakhs ex showroom, undercutting the Creta by a modest margin. The Sierra’s turbo petrol variants sit higher starting at 17.99 lakhs ex showroom, while Victoris does not offer a turbocharged option, instead relying on its hybrid to compensate in efficiency rather than outright performance. The Victoris hybrid has a starting point of 16.37 lakhs ex showroom.

A similar pricing structure is visible in the diesel lineup as well. The Hyundai Creta diesel range begins at ₹12.24 lakh ex-showroom, making it the most accessible diesel option in this comparison. The Kia Seltos diesel follows closely at ₹12.59 lakh ex-showroom, positioning itself marginally higher but still within the same pricing band. In contrast, the Tata Sierra diesel range starts at ₹12.99 lakh ex-showroom, placing it at a clear premium over both the Creta and the Seltos, particularly when equipped with automatic transmissions, where the price gap widens further.

This pricing difference reflects both the Sierra’s equipment level and its positioning as a more robust, highway-oriented Mid Size SUV. The Creta and Seltos, on the other hand, are priced more competitively in diesel form, appealing to buyers who prioritise long-distance efficiency and fuel economy without stepping too far into premium pricing territory. The Maruti Suzuki Victoris does not offer a diesel engine at all, which reduces its relevance for buyers who specifically seek diesel torque and highway efficiency, but also simplifies its product range and allows Maruti to focus instead on petrol, CNG, and hybrid alternatives.

Mid Size SUV Comparo – Which SUV Is the Most Affordable?

Looking purely at entry-level pricing of these Mid Size SUVs, the Maruti Suzuki Victoris is the most affordable Mid Size SUV in this comparison. It offers the lowest starting price and the widest range of fuel options, including CNG and hybrid. Among the more conventional petrol and diesel SUVs, the Hyundai Creta emerges as the most accessible, with a slightly lower base price than the Seltos and a more balanced variant spread.

The Kia Seltos sits marginally higher but compensates with stronger turbo petrol pricing and a sportier positioning. Tata Sierra, while offering robust engines and higher standard equipment, remains the most expensive across most comparable variants.

Mid Size SUV Comparo – Verdict

From a pricing and powertrain perspective, each of these Mid Size SUVs caters to a distinct buyer profile, shaped by differences in upfront cost, engine strategy, and overall ownership focus. The Maruti Suzuki Victoris emerges as the clear value leader at the entry level and stands out for its inclusion of hybrid and CNG powertrains, which are unique in this segment. These options make it particularly attractive for cost-conscious buyers and high-mileage users who prioritise low running costs, fuel efficiency, and predictable ownership expenses over outright performance. Its lower starting price further strengthens its position as the most accessible and cost-efficient option for buyers entering the mid-size SUV segment for the first time.

The Hyundai Creta continues to justify its long-standing popularity by offering a well-balanced combination of competitive pricing, a broad range of engine choices, and a carefully structured variant line-up. With petrol, turbo petrol, and diesel engines, along with multiple manual and automatic transmission options, the Creta is able to serve a wide spectrum of buyers, from urban commuters to frequent highway users. Its variants are spaced in a way that allows buyers to move up the range without sharp increases in cost, reinforcing its reputation as a safe, rational, and versatile choice.

The Kia Seltos appeals more directly to buyers who place greater emphasis on performance, driving engagement, and a slightly sportier character. Its turbo petrol options, combined with dual-clutch automatic and iMT transmissions, give it a more dynamic edge within the segment, while its pricing remains sufficiently restrained to avoid moving into clearly premium territory. This makes the Seltos particularly attractive to buyers who want stronger acceleration and a more engaging driving experience but still want to remain within the mainstream Mid Size SUV price band.

The Tata Sierra, meanwhile, positions itself as a more expensive but solid and deliberately premium Mid Size SUV within this group. Its higher starting price, stronger diesel tuning, and higher baseline of standard equipment signal a focus on buyers who value a robust feel, highway stability, and a richer feature set, and who are willing to pay extra for these attributes. While it is not the most affordable option, it appeals to a more specific customer profile that prioritises perceived durability, comfort, and equipment over outright value or entry-level affordability.

Together, these differences ensure that the Mid Size SUV segment is no longer defined by a single benchmark model, but by a range of products that cater to different priorities, budgets, and usage patterns, allowing buyers to select an SUV that aligns closely with their individual needs and expectations. In a segment where margins matter, these differences in pricing and engine strategy ultimately define where each SUV stands.

The post The Mid Size SUV Showdown: Creta, Seltos, Sierra and Victoris Compared first appeared on Shutterdrives.

The post The Mid Size SUV Showdown: Creta, Seltos, Sierra and Victoris Compared appeared first on Shutterdrives.

In the last eight years, four global automotive giants have closed the curtain on their India operations and sales. At the same time, we’ve seen the arrival of several new brands, many of which failed to leave any real impact on the market in terms of sales figures and an emotional impact on the customer. Together, this only reinforces one simple truth: cracking the Indian automotive market is far tougher than it looks, and success here demands far more than just a global badge or a competitive price tag.

For decades, global automotive players have viewed and, in some cases continue to view India as an evolving, price-sensitive market dominated by the “small” and “cheap” car. One global manufacturer, however, chose to think differently. In 2019, they took a giant leap of faith by launching a mid-size SUV loaded with features and technology, betting that Indian buyers were ready for more. That bet paid off. Big time.

The car went on to sell over 560,000 units in just six years. By now, you’ve probably figured out that the car I’m talking about is the Kia Seltos. These numbers clearly highlight just how crucial the Seltos has been for Kia India not just as a product, but as the cornerstone that shaped the brand’s image and influenced customer perception across Kia’s entire lineup.

Six years later, Kia has decided to give its blue-eyed boy a complete makeover, ushering in an all-new generation that will play a defining role in shaping the brand’s future in India. So, what’s changed and does the new Seltos still have what it takes? Let’s find out.

2nd Gen Kia Seltos – Exterior Design

Start with the design and it is immediately clear that Kia has avoided a “playing it safe” design approach, and that decision works in the Seltos’ favour. This is not an evolution or a mild redesign. The new generation Seltos is a full reinvention. Park it next to the outgoing model and the resemblance is almost non-existent. The softer, more rounded surfaces of the old car are gone, replaced by a bolder, more upright and far more imposing design.

The front end sets the tone for the entire redesign. The grille is taller and squarer, finished with intricate vertical gunmetal elements that give the Seltos a much more serious face. Boxy LED headlamps sit on either side, with the vertical DRLs extending outward features a distinctive lightning bolt style signature. Combined with the wider stance, the Seltos looks closer in design to Kia’s larger global SUVs like the Telluride. The new Seltos feels like a scaled down global SUV.

From the side, the change in proportions becomes clearer. The new Seltos has grown by 95 mm in length and 30 mm in width and now measures 4,460 mm long, 1,830 mm wide and 1,635 mm tall. The wheelbase has been stretched to 2,690 mm, which is an 80 mm increase, and this visually gives the car a more planted stance while also promising gains in interior space, which we will get to later. The stronger shoulder line, more upright profile and chunkier cladding reinforce the sense that this is a more substantial SUV than before, moving away from a crossover look to something more solid and confident.

Kia has also increased the ground clearance to 200 mm, a figure that places it right in the thick of the segment and signals a more SUV first approach, though we will come back to how that translates in the real world later. That said, not every design decision lands perfectly. On a few variants, Kia has added neon coloured brake callipers, which feels like pushing things a bit too far. I have always welcomed newer and bolder design ideas, but neon callipers on a family SUV come across as more gimmicky than tasteful.

At the rear, the transformation is completed convincingly. The number plate has been repositioned lower onto the bumper, which cleans up the tailgate and makes the overall design look neater. The standout element, though, is the new inverted L themed LED lighting signature that stretches across the width of the rear, giving the Seltos a wider stance. Combined with the revised tailgate and cleaner bumper treatment, it brings the Seltos in line with Kia’s latest global design direction.

2nd Gen Kia Seltos – Interior Design

Once you’re inside it is obvious that the biggest leap forward has happened inside. The cabin no longer feels like an upgrade of the old Seltos but a clean break from it, with a layout that is more contemporary, more premium and far more tech focused.

The dashboard adopts a layered design dominated by a wide digital layout. A 12.3 inch touchscreen handles infotainment duties, a matching 12.3 inch screen sits behind the steering wheel for instrumentation, and a separate 5.0 inch display manages climate controls. Even with this strong digital presence, Kia has resisted the temptation to go fully touch dependent, retaining physical buttons and knobs for key functions, which is something I genuinely appreciate. At a time when many manufacturers are deleting buttons altogether, having tactile controls you can operate without taking your eyes off the road still matters.

There is a clear improvement in perceived quality as well. The steering wheel is completely new, moving to a three spoke design and incorporating drive and traction mode selectors. On higher trims, the feature list is long and genuinely impressive, with ventilated front seats, a panoramic sunroof, wireless phone charging, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a powered driver’s seat with memory, rear sunshades, dual tone upholstery, a 360-degree camera, an eight speaker Bose sound system, 64 colour ambient lighting, over the air updates, connected car tech and Level 2 ADAS.

2nd Gen Kia Seltos – Comfort and Handling

The increase in dimensions has had a clear and positive impact on cabin comfort in the second-generation Seltos. With the longer wheelbase and wider body, occupants benefit from noticeably improved legroom and shoulder room, and an overall airier feel, especially in the second row. Rear-seat passengers will find it far more accommodating on longer journeys, with better under-thigh support and ample knee room ensuring a relaxed seating posture. Comfort has also been enhanced by revised seat cushioning that now feels plusher and more supportive, striking a better balance between softness and long-distance comfort.

Up front, the redesigned headrests stand out they are shaped differently from the standard units seen earlier and offer improved neck and head support, reducing fatigue over extended drives. Rear-seat passengers are well catered for too, with features such as dedicated AC vents, window blinds, a reclining backrest and Type-C charging ports, all of which enhance comfort and convenience, especially on longer drives. Taken together, these changes make the new Seltos a significantly more comfortable place to spend time in.

The suspension setup on the new Seltos is a clear step forward over the older model and feels noticeably more polished in everyday driving. The new setup offers a nice balance between comfort and control. At city speeds, while there is still a hint of firmness over sharp bumps, the overall ride feels more settled and less nervous than before. As speeds rise, the improvements become more evident, with the SUV staying planted and composed even on uneven surfaces.

Out on the highway, the Seltos inspires confidence. It handles long undulations and broken patches with maturity, rarely feeling unsettled, and remains stable even with the larger 18-inch wheels. Through corners, body movements are well controlled and the suspension works in harmony with the chassis to deliver predictable handling. Overall, the updated suspension makes the new Seltos feel more comfortable, more stable, and better-rounded than its predecessor, especially for long-distance driving.

2nd Gen Kia Seltos – Engine options

The updated Seltos continues with the familiar engine lineup, and the good news is that refinement remains a strong suit across the range. Buyers can choose from a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol, a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol, and a 1.5-litre diesel, all carrying forward the same output figures as before but benefiting from improved calibration and emission compliance updates.

2nd Gen Kia Seltos – Performance

I drove the turbo-petrol paired with the 7-speed dual-clutch automatic, and it stands out as the most engaging option. Power delivery is smooth yet eager, building speed in a clean, linear manner. Switch to Sport mode and the engine feels noticeably more responsive, while the gearbox’s quick downshifts add a layer of excitement. Around town, the DCT can feel slightly hesitant at crawling speeds, but once on the move, it feels slick and well-matched to the engine’s character.

The diesel, tested with the 6-speed torque converter automatic, remains the sensible long-distance choice. Producing 116hp and 250Nm, it feels quiet, smooth and well insulated, especially at highway speeds. It may not feel as urgent as the turbo-petrol, but its relaxed nature and effortless cruising ability make it particularly well-suited for road trips and daily commutes alike.

Complementing these engines is a significantly improved chassis setup. Suspension revisions have resulted in better control over body movements, with body roll now well contained through corners. The Seltos feels more composed when pushed, inspiring greater confidence than the older model. Direction changes are handled cleanly, and overall stability has improved, making it feel more secure and predictable, especially at higher speeds. Together, the refined engines and sorted handling give the Seltos facelift a more mature and capable driving character.

2nd Gen Kia Seltos – Verdict

The 2nd Generation Seltos impresses with its sharp design, modern cabin layout and a feature list that still feels rich and upmarket for the segment. The improvements to ride comfort and suspension tuning have made a noticeable difference, resulting in a more settled and comfortable experience both in the city and on the highway, while handling remains confident with body roll well contained. Engine refinement across the range further adds to its appeal, making it a well-rounded SUV for everyday use as well as long journeys.

However, a few feature omissions take some shine off the package, with the removal of items like UV-cut glass, an air purifier and the head-up display being noticeable at this price point. Despite these misses, the Seltos remains a strong, comfort-focused and stylish option that continues to set a high benchmark in its class.

The post 2026 Kia Seltos Review: Bigger, Bolder but Better? first appeared on Shutterdrives.

The post 2026 Kia Seltos Review: Bigger, Bolder but Better? appeared first on Shutterdrives.

Kia India has officially unveiled the new-generation Seltos, marking a major leap forward for the midsize SUV that originally helped shape the brand’s footprint in the country. Over six years after the first Seltos arrived, the second-gen model steps in with a fresh design philosophy, a completely revamped cabin, and a shift to Kia’s K3 architecture.

New-Gen Kia Seltos – Exterior Design

The new Seltos has grown in every measurable direction. The SUV now stretches 4,460mm end to end, sits on a 2,690mm wheelbase, measures 1,830mm wide, and stands 1,635mm tall. The updated proportions, combined with the K3 platform, give it a more planted stance and improved interior space.

The styling direction takes clear cues from Kia’s newer global SUVs. The reworked front end is dominated by a broad, intricately detailed grille with vertical gunmetal elements, giving the SUV a more assertive face. Boxy LED headlamps sit on either side, and the DRLs extend vertically, enhanced by a distinctive lightning-bolt signature near the outer edges. The redesigned bumper incorporates black cladding and neatly sculpted surrounds for the fog lamps, adding toughness without clutter.

Along the flanks, stronger character lines and chunkier wheel-arch cladding give the Seltos a more muscular posture. Kia has switched to flush-fitting door handles for a cleaner profile. The familiar kink in the window line returns but now blends into a blacked-out trim piece that visually stretches the rear glass into the tailgate.

At the back, the number plate has shifted downward to the bumper, cleaning up the tailgate’s design. The standout element here is the new inverted L-themed LED signature that spans across the rear, giving the SUV a distinctive nighttime identity.

New-Gen Kia Seltos – Interior Design

Step inside and the change is even more dramatic. The dashboard layout has been completely modernised and is built around a widescreen digital setup: a 12.3-inch infotainment display, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a separate 5.0-inch panel for climate controls. Despite the tech-heavy approach, Kia has kept a healthy mix of physical buttons and knobs for essential functions. The steering wheel is brand-new as well, featuring a three-spoke look with drive and traction mode selectors.

New-Gen Kia Seltos – Features and Safety

The equipment list, especially on the higher trims, is extensive. Highlights include ventilated front seats, a panoramic sunroof, wireless smartphone charging, wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, a memory function for the powered driver’s seat, rear sunshades, dual-tone upholstery, a 360-degree camera, Bose’s eight-speaker audio setup, 64-colour ambient lighting, OTA updates, connected-car capabilities and Level 2 ADAS.

Standard safety features include six airbags, electronic stability control, disc brakes on all wheels, hill-start assist, ISOFIX child-seat mounts, a tyre-pressure monitoring system and a rear-view camera.

New-Gen Kia Seltos – Powertrain Options

Despite riding on the new K3 platform, the powertrain lineup is unchanged. The Seltos continues with three engines:

1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol (115hp, 144Nm) paired with a 6-speed manual or CVT

1.5-litre turbo-petrol (160hp, 253Nm) available with an iMT or 7-speed DCT

1.5-litre turbo-diesel (116hp, 250Nm) offered with either a 6-speed manual or 6-speed torque converter automatic

New-Gen Kia Seltos – Variants

As before, the variant spread continues across three broad lines -Tech Line, GT Line and X-Line. The Tech Line remains the volume driver with six trims: HTE, HTE(O), HTK, HTK(O), HTX and HTX(A). Above this sits the GT Line, offered in GTX and GTX(A) versions, which adds a sportier appearance and a richer equipment list. The X-Line package, known for its darkened styling elements, remains exclusive to the GT Line range.

New-Gen Kia Seltos – Market Positioning and Rivals

Reservations have been open since December 11, with a booking fee of ₹25,000. Customers can secure their SUV online or by visiting any authorised Kia dealership.
The new-gen Kia Seltos is positioned as a premium, feature-rich midsize SUV aimed at buyers who want bold design, advanced tech in a competitive segment.

The All-New Tata Sierra has been one of the most anticipated car launches of this year. At the launch event gasps were heard in the room when Tata announced the Sierra will be starting at 11.49 lakhs ex-showroom. The Sierra will go head on against the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos. Today, we put the Sierra up against its most important rivals and compare their design, features, dimensions, engines and most importantly the pricing. With buyers now demanding more individuality in a sea of similar crossovers, the Sierra arrives at the perfect moment.

Tata Sierra vs Hyundai Creta vs Kia Seltos – Exterior Design and Dimensions

The 2025 Tata Sierra goes for a bold and upright look with its boxy shape, big LED light bar and clean body lines. It feels rugged and has a very standout presence in a sea of crossovers. The Hyundai Creta moves in the opposite direction with a sharper and more matured design, a prominent front fascia and angular lines that make it look more modern and assertive. The Kia Seltos sits somewhere in between, carrying a sporty and urban look with its signature tiger-nose face, crisp detailing and sportier proportions.

The Tata Sierra clearly stands out in this segment when you look at the numbers. It is longer and significantly wider than both the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos, and it also sits taller at 1715 mm. The long 2730 mm wheelbase is a major advantage. Ground clearance is higher too at 205 mm as opposed to the Creta’s and Seltos’ ground clearance of 190mm each. The biggest difference, however, is the boot space — at 622 litre leads the pack, the Korean Twins share the same boot space capacity of 433 litres.

While the Hyundai Creta measures in at 4330 mm in length, 1790 mm and 1635 mm in height, the Kia Seltos shares it underpinnings with the Creta and spans 4365 mm in length, 1800 mm in width and 1645 mm in height. The Sierra also features the largest wheel size amongst the three at 19 inches, the Kia comes in second at 18 inch and the Creta last at 17 inches.

Tata Sierra vs Hyundai Creta vs Kia Seltos – Interior Design and Features

The Tata Sierra’s cabin feels modern and well-equipped, led by a triple-screen layout that includes a 10.25-inch digital cluster for the driver and two 12.3-inch displays for shared infotainment and passenger controls. The four-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated Tata logo adds a premium touch, while the black-grey interior uses soft-touch materials and practical storage spaces.

Tata has loaded the Sierra with features such as 5G support, OTA updates, a 12-speaker JBL system with Dolby Atmos, Arcade app store, HypAR head-up display, dual-zone climate control, panoramic sunroof, wireless charging, mood lighting, a 360-degree camera and rear sunshades. Higher variants add ventilated and powered front seats with memory, a gesture-controlled powered tailgate, reclining rear seats, a cooled glovebox and multiple Type-C ports.

The Creta really pushes the premium and tech-friendly feel inside the cabin. Hyundai has made sure it looks modern and expensive, starting with the two 10.25 inch screens that handle the driver info and the main infotainment. The rose gold touches, the orange stitching and the mix of grey, black and white give the cabin a bright and classy look. In the higher variants you get ventilated front seats, a powered driver seat, dual zone climate control, panoramic sunroof and rear sunblinds. There are also premium additions like the Bose sound system and the full suite of connected car features.

The dashboard of the Kia Seltos comes with slim AC vents and a large dual screen layout that combines the 10.25 inch infotainment system with a digital instrument cluster. The touchscreen supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Inside, the Seltos has the sportiest look of the three, thanks to its flat bottom steering wheel, black leather upholstery and brushed aluminium touches. The feature list is similar to the Creta the Sierra with ventilated front seats, rear sunblinds, dual zone climate control and panoramic sunroof. Few features that stand out are the voice-controlled window function and Amazon Alexa connectivity.

All the three cars are ADAS 2 Level powered with features such as Lane Keep Assist, Forward Collision Warning, Blind Spot Asssit etc. The Sierra edges ahead with the first in segment intelligent over speed assist.

Tata Sierra vs Hyundai Creta vs Kia Seltos – Pricing and Verdict

The Tata Sierra comes in at ₹11.49 lakh ex-showroom for the base 1.5 NA petrol manual, while the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos start slightly lower at ₹10.73 lakh and ₹10.79 lakh respectively for the same engine–gearbox combination. Since Tata hasn’t revealed the full price range yet and we haven’t driven the Sierra, it wouldn’t be fair to declare a clear winner.

However, what we can say is that the Sierra is shaping up to be a serious contender in this space. On paper, its larger dimensions, stronger feature list and overall positioning give it a slight edge over the Creta and Seltos, and if Tata gets the rest of the pricing right, it could turn into one of the segment’s most compelling options.

The post 2025 Tata Sierra vs Hyundai Creta vs Kia Seltos: Dimensions, Features & Pricing Compared first appeared on Shutterdrives.

The post 2025 Tata Sierra vs Hyundai Creta vs Kia Seltos: Dimensions, Features & Pricing Compared appeared first on Shutterdrives.
