Most recently, Land Rover unveiled the Range Rover Sport SV Black, followed by the Defender Octa Black. The upcoming Range Rover SV Black will be the third and most luxurious “Black” model in the lineup, serving as the flagship in the “Black” lineup.

Range Rover SV Black Edition – Design and Exterior

The exterior of the Range Rover SV Black Edition is fully finished in Narvik Gloss Black, including the grille, bonnet lettering, Range Rover oval, and lower detailing. The grille features a gloss black mesh insert, and the 23-inch alloy wheels are also black-finished. Brake calipers carry a matching dark theme with black branding. At the rear, a black ceramic SV roundel is used in place of traditional badging.

This all-black finish is new to the Range Rover SV lineup and sets the SV Black Edition apart from the Serenity and Intrepid trims, which have their own distinct themes.

Range Rover SV Black Edition – Interior

The interior follows the same blacked-out theme with Ebony Near-Aniline leather upholstery, which features a unique graduated perforation pattern. A new single-panel seat design has been introduced, which reduces stitch lines and creates a more seamless appearance.

Black birch wood veneers with a satin finish are used across the cabin surfaces. The gear shifter is finished in satin black ceramic, and Moonlight Chrome accents are used on multiple interior elements. These dark finishes contrast subtly with the tactile materials to maintain a consistent cabin theme.

The SV Black Edition is available in both standard wheelbase (SWB) and long wheelbase (LWB) configurations. LWB variants are expected to carry more features, including the advanced audio and comfort technology described below.

Range Rover SV Black Edition – Sensory Floor Technology

A key highlight of the Range Rover SV Black Edition is the inclusion of a new Sensory Floor system. This feature is part of Range Rover’s broader Body-and-Soul-Seat (BASS) technology suite and is standard on all LWB SV Black Edition models.

The Sensory Floor includes four transducers embedded under the carpet mats in both front and rear footwells. These transducers generate vibrations that sync with audio from the speaker system, allowing passengers to feel low-frequency audio signals in addition to hearing them.

Passengers can select from six built-in wellness programmes, including modes designed for relaxation or alertness. These programmes combine haptic feedback from the floor and seats to create a full-body listening experience. The system has been developed to reduce stress and improve cognitive focus during travel.

Range Rover SV Black Edition – Powertrain

The Range Rover SV Black Edition will be powered by a 4.4 litre 615 Hp twin-turbocharged V8 petrol engine that produces 750 Nm of torque and is mated to an 8-Speed automatic. The Range Rover SV can do the 0 to 100 kmph run in 4.5 seconds. The drivetrain does include all-wheel drive and adaptive suspension for improved comfort and on-road stability.

Unlike some other variants in the Range Rover portfolio, the SV Black Edition does not currently feature an electric or hybrid option.

Range Rover SV Black Edition – Tyres and Materials

On the occasion of the reveal Land rover also debuts new Pirelli P Zero tyres made with over 70% bio-based and recycled materials. These include silica sourced from rice husks, FSC -certified natural rubber, recycled steel, and plant-based oils. Land Rover claim the tyres are developed to offer both performance and durability. They will initially be available on select 22-inch wheels. These tyres will made available globally from later this year. To be noted, the new tyres will not be featured on the SV Black.

This development is part of Land Rover’s strategy to introduce more sustainable components across its portfolio, even in models not powered by electrified drivetrains.

Range Rover SV Black Edition – Availability

The Range Rover SV Black Edition will be made ready for order globally from late 2025. It is expected to be sold through Land Rover’s official dealers in international markets, including the UK and parts of Europe. The India launch timeline and pricing are yet to be confirmed. Given the model’s positioning and limited production scale, it is likely to be introduced in low volumes through custom order channels.

As of now, Land Rover has not indicated how many units will be allocated for the Indian market.

Based on the Defender 110, the Octa receives upgrades in suspension, chassis, and off-road capabilities. It features larger off-road tires, a wider track, and enhanced exterior elements. The Edition One variant gets 20-inch off-road wheels, while the standard model sports 22-inch all-season tires. ‘Octa’ badging appears on the C-pillars, and the vehicle includes a gloss-black roof and tailgate.

The SUV is offered in four paint options, including Petra Copper and Faroe Green, along with Carpathian Grey and Charente Grey. A matte protective film is available as an option. The redesigned front and rear bumpers improve approach and departure angles, and the revised grille enhances airflow. A signature diamond graphic appears behind the rear window. The Octa’s ride height is increased by 28mm, and its wheel arches are extended to accommodate larger alloys.

Inside, the layout remains similar to the standard Defender, with additional premium elements. Interior themes include Burnt Sienna with Ebony or Light Cloud with Lunar, while the Edition One features a Khaki and Ebony combination. The front seats offer improved bolster support and integrated headrests. It also includes Land Rover’s Body and Soul Seat audio system, which synchronizes seat vibrations with music played through a 700W, 15-speaker Meridian surround sound system.

The Defender Octa debuts a 6D Dynamic suspension system, which uses hydraulically linked dampers to manage pitch and roll without a conventional anti-roll bar. This setup enhances wheel articulation for off-road performance while maintaining stability on-road. It also features reinforced wishbones, a faster steering rack, and an exclusive Octa mode with an off-road launch function.

Powering the Defender Octa is a BMW-sourced 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 with mild-hybrid technology. Producing 635hp and 750Nm of torque, it delivers up to 800Nm with launch control. The engine is paired with an 8-speed automatic gearbox, enabling a 0-100 km/h sprint in 3.8 seconds and a claimed top speed of 250 km/h.

Land Rover has launched an updated version of their smallest SUV, Range Rover Evoque. It gets a new infotainment system, slightly revised styling and interior updates. It is available in a single trim priced at Rs. 67.90 Lakhs (Ex-showroom).

2024 Range Rover Evoque; what’s new

Given that this is a mild update, changes outside have been subtle. The Evoque now gets a new grille design which is in line with the flagship Vogue. You also have reprofiled LED headlamps with a new DRL signature. Land Rover has also given the Evoque red brake callipers along with new 10-spoke alloy wheels as additions. Towards the rear, the car remains unchanged except the slightly reprofiled DRLs. With the update, Land Rover will also offer two new paint shades namely Corinthian Bronze and Tribeca Blue.

Moving on inside you see the more notable changes. The dashboard and centre console has been redesigned and it now features a new steering wheel. The centre console is now devoid of any buttons to give a minimalist look. Instead, the functions of these buttons have now been fully moved to the new 11.4 inch Pivi Pro touchscreen infotainment system. It features a curved glass design and functionalities such as Over-The-Air(OTA) software updates, Wireless Android Auto/Apple Carplay and more. It also gets a panoramic sunroof, rear view camera as the IRVM, 360 degree camera with clear sight ground view, fully-digital instrument cluster and a new PM2.5 air purifier as part of it’s equipment list.

2024 Range Rover Evoque; Powertrain, Pricing

Under the hood, the 2024 version remains unchanged. It gets a 2.0L four-cylinder petrol engine making 247HP and 365NM of torque. Customers can also choose a 2.0L four-cylinder diesel making 201HP and 430NM of torque. Both engines come mated to a 9 speed torque converter AT as standard. Additionally, both powertrains also get a 48V mild-hybrid system which assists the engines whenever required and uses regenerative braking to recoup charge. Being a Range Rover, it also gets an all-wheel-drive system with Terrain Response as standard.

In terms of pricing, the Evoque is available in a single Dynamic SE trim with both the engine options priced at Rs. 67.90 Lakhs (Ex-showroom). It rivals other mid-size luxury SUVs such as the Mercedes-Benz GLC, BMW X3 and Audi Q5.
