Citroen has taken the wraps off it’s latest product, named the C3 Aircross. Based on the same platform as the C3 hatchback, it is a part of Citroen’s C Cubed programme for emerging markets.

Talking of things under the hood, the C3 Aircross gets powered by a 1.2L turbo-petrol engine which is also found in the smaller C3. However, Citroen is expected to give a minor bump in the tune of the C3 Aircross. Initially, it will only be offered with a 6 speed MT with an AT expected to arrive at a later date. An all-electric version is also expected to arrive next year. There will be no diesel engine available with the C3 Aircross. Additionally, it gets a tall ground clearance of 200mm.

Talking of the interiors, it will be offered in 5 seater and 5+2 seater combination with a removable third row. Another highlight of the C3 Aircross is the roof-mounted AC vents for the second and third rows (only available in the 5+2 combo). Also on offer is a new digital instrument cluster, cruise control and electrically adjustable ORVMs. The interiors will be available with a beige+black colour scheme.

Boot space is rated at 444L for the 5 seater variant while the 5+2 variants will fetch 511L with the last row removed. While Citroen has not revealed the pricing yet, expect it to cost between Rs. 10-15 Lakhs ex-showroom. The C3 Aircross also measures 4.3m in length putting it in the same segment as its rivals such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Carens and Maruti Grand Vitara. While they have not revealed the launch date, expect it to launch around the festive season later this year.
