Mercedes Maybach S-Class – Exterior Design Updates

The overall shape remains familiar but the details have changed. The front fascia is where most of the work has been done. The grille now gets Maybach specific vertical slats and it is framed by LED lighting. There is also an illuminated Mercedes star sitting on the bonnet. Another small detail is the Maybach lettering that lights up within the grille surround.

The headlamps are new and are similar to the updated S-Class. They now feature a tri arrow LED signature along with LED DRLs. Mercedes has also added a small Maybach logo inside the headlamp unit which lights up. Even the lower air dam area gets Maybach logos worked into the mesh.

On the side, there are new alloy wheel designs ranging from 20 inch to 21 inch sizes. These wheels get a special feature where the Mercedes logo stays upright even when the wheels are moving. The Maybach badge on the D pillar is now illuminated which adds to the visual presence at night.

At the rear, the changes are subtle. The tail lamps now have a connected look with a triple arrow LED pattern inside. The exhaust outlets get a chrome surround which keeps the premium look intact. In terms of size, the car measures 5.4 metres in length with a wheelbase of 3.4 metres. This is longer than the standard long wheelbase S Class by 180 mm. It weighs around 2350 kg and offers a boot space of 495 litres.

Mercedes Maybach S-Class – Interior Design and Features

Inside, the layout is similar to the updated Mercedes Maybach S-Class but there are key changes. The dashboard design stays clean and familiar but now features the latest Hyperscreen setup. This includes a separate display for the front passenger as well. Mercedes has added new interior colour options along with more leather finishes across the cabin. There is also a new vegan upholstery option which is being offered for the first time on a Maybach. This comes with a unique pattern and finish.

The steering wheel now gets a wooden trim option which adds to the luxury feel. Mercedes has also brought back physical buttons for volume control on the steering wheel which improves usability. The system also supports AI features like ChatGPT along with Bing and Gemini integration. The user interface has been tweaked to suit the Maybach experience with custom themes and layouts.

The rear seat remains the highlight of the Maybach. It continues to be offered as a four seater layout with individual seats. These seats can recline up to 43 degrees and offer heating massage ventilation and memory functions. Rear passengers now get individual handheld tablets instead of a single shared unit. There is also a full rear seat entertainment system which enhances the overall experience. Everything is designed to make the rear seat feel like a private lounge.

Mercedes Maybach S-Class – Night Series

Mercedes has also re-introduced the Night Series version with this facelift. This version replaces most of the chrome elements with dark chrome. The wheels are finished in black and feature multiple Maybach logos. It gives the car a more understated and stealthy look compared to the standard version.

Mercedes Maybach S-Class – Powertrain Options

The Mercedes Maybach S-Class in its S580 variant continues with an updated V8 engine known as the M177 Evo. It now produces 537 hp and 750 Nm of torque. There is also an S580e plug in hybrid option in some markets. This combines a 3 litre inline 6 engine with an electric motor. The total output stands at 585 hp and 750 Nm. It can run up to 98 km on electric power alone.

The biggest change is with the S680. The V12 engine will now be limited to select markets like the USA and UAE. In most markets including India, the S680 will use a more powerful version of the V8. This version produces 612 hp and 850 Nm of torque.

Mercedes Maybach S-Class – Expected India Launch and Price

The updated Mercedes Maybach S-Class version is expected to arrive in India by early to mid 2027. The S580 variant will likely continue to be assembled in India just like before.

Prices are expected to go up slightly. The S580 could start around 2.9 crore to 3 crore rupees. The S680 could be priced between 3.8 crore and 3.9 crore rupees ex showroom. In terms of positioning, it does not have a direct rival but it sits close to cars like the Bentley Flying Spur.
