Tata Motors has launched the Tiago EV hatchback at a price of Rs. 8.49 Lakhs. It will offer up to 315kms of range and gets DC fast charging capabilities.
The Tiago EV gets an option of two liquid-cooled battery packs- 19.2kWh and 24kWh which gives it a claimed range of 250Kms and 315Kms respectively. Driving the wheels is a 60HP/110NM motor for the variants with the smaller battery while the 24kWh variants get a 74HP/114NM motor. Tata claims a 0-60 Kmph acceleration figure of 5.7 seconds for the more powerful version. The battery has an IP67 rating.
Tata has also made a few changes on the outside compared to the regular petrol and CNG versions which include new front bumper with body coloured inserts, a new faux grille, new Hyperstyle stylized wheel caps and a Piano black insert on the door handles. A dual-tone roof is also an option.
Coming inside, Tata is offering many new features such as Projector headlamps, Cruise Control, 2 Drive modes, an 8 speaker Harman sound system, TPMS, electronically foldable and adjustable ORVMs, a 3 step regeneration system, connected car tech, Auto AC etc. Interestingly, boot space has only been reduced by 2 litres despite the inclusion of the battery packs. However, Tata has had to lose out the spare wheel and will be offering a puncture repair kit instead. Ground clearance is rated at 166mm laden.
The Tiago EV has been priced from Rs.8.49 Lakhs (Ex-showroom) for the base XE version and will be available with two charger options- a 3.3kW AC charger and a 7.2kW AC charger. The price for the top end XZ+ Tech LUX with 7.2kW charger has been set at Rs. 11.79 Lakhs. The introductory prices are applicable for the first 10,000 bookings out of which 2000 slots have been reserved for existing Tata EV owners. Bookings will open on October 10th.

The Tiago EV has no direct competition and will instead be rivalling its own sibling, the Tata Tigor EV. It is available with an option of 5 colours- Tropical Mist, Teal Blue, Daytona Grey, Pristine White and Midnight Plum.
UPDATE: Tata has announced the booking amount of Rs. 21,000. It can be booked through Tata’s dealerships as well as online here. It will be on display in major cities from October and should be available for test drives late December onwards with deliveries starting January 2023. Tata has also expedited the production of the 24kWh variants based on customer demand.
