Toyota India has revealed the prices for their latest SUV, the Urban Cruiser Hyryder.
Starting from INR 10.48Lakhs, the Urban Cruiser Hyryder will be available in two different powertrain options, a strong hybrid and mild hybrid “NeoDrive” guises. The Urban Cruiser Hyryder of course gets rebadged as the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, also launched very recently.
About the Urban Cruiser Hyryder:
Under the bonnet, the Self-Charging Strong Hybrid is powered by a 1.5L TNGA Engine with e-drive transmission that Toyota claims can run ‘most of the time’ on electric power. The entire powertrain churns out a total of 113bhp and 141Nm from the electric motors and ICE combined. The strong hybrid variants also get a claimed ceiling-shattering fuel efficiency of 27.97 km/l.
The Neo Drive variants come with a 1.5L Suzuki-derived K-15C engine mated to a 5-speed manual or 6-speed automatic gearbox and an ISG. The mild hybrid powertrain produces a measly 100bhp and 135Nm or torque, and will be available in both 2WD and 4WD configurations; as is the Grand Vitara.

The Urban Cruiser Hyryder gets a ton of tech that make it competitive enough. Modern day features like a heads up display, 360-degree camera, connected-car gizmos in the form of Toyota i-Connect, wireless charger and drive mode selector are kitted in the Hyryder. The SUV also gets a 7-inch digital drivers display, ventilated seats and more.

On the safety front, all but the base 2 variants get 6 airbags. ABS with EBD, ESC, hill hold assist, ISOFIX child seat anchors and rear parking sensors come standard across all variants. The body in itself is based off of Suzuki’s advanced TECT platform structure for better structural stability.
Prices of the Urban Cruiser Hyryder:
The Hyryder starts at INR 10.48Lakhs ex-showroom, and goes up to INR 18.99Lakhs for the V strong hybrid guise. It will compete against the SUV stronghold of the Koreans in the form of the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos, along with the Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq and the newly launched Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara. Bookings are already open for the Toyota with deliveries commencing shortly.
