What to expect at Auto Expo 2023- Tata Motors

The Auto Expo 2023 will take place from the 13th to 18th of January at the India Expo Mart, Greater Noida. It is one of the most anticipated events in the automotive industry this year. Tata Motors will be one of the participants with an interesting display for viewing. Here’s what to expect at their stall-

Tata Harrier and Safari facelift

The Tata Harrier Jet Edition

One of the highlights at Tata Motor’s stall will be the Harrier and Safari facelifts. While the Harrier has received a facelift once already, it will be a first for its sibling, the Safari. Updates will include a styling revision and some new equipment such as ADAS, 360 camera, adaptive cruise control, updated infotainment system, electronic parking brake and more. The Safari will also get stylistic updates and a longer feature list. Under the hood, both the cars remain unchanged and get powered by a 2.0L Kryotec diesel engine producing 170HP and 350NM. While a 1.5L turbo-petrol motor is in the works, it is unlikely to launch anytime soon.

Tata Punch EV

The Tata Punch

Also expected in the showcase is the Tata Punch EV. This will make it the fourth EV in their lineup after the Nexon, Tiago and Tigor. This will also be the first EV based on the ALFA platform which also underpins the Altroz hatchback. It will get a range of around 300kms and will be priced at a premium of 1-2 Lakhs over the recently launched Tiago EV. Besides this, also expect new colours as well as blue trim in the exterior. In terms of features, it will remain largely similar to the petrol Punch.

Tata Curvv and Avinya

Tata Curvv concept

There are high chances of Tata showcasing the Curvv and Avinya concepts which preview their future midsize SUV and their Gen 2 and Gen 3 Born EV platforms as well. The final products based on the concepts are expected to go on sale by 2024 and 2026 respectively. A minimalistic design language with sleek interiors is a common point between both of them. Tata Nexon CNG and DCA

The Tata Nexon

Tata is also expected to launch the Nexon CNG which will be its next CNG variant after Tiago and Tigor. It will be based on the 1.2L 3 cylinder turbo-petrol engine mated to a 6 speed MT from the Nexon. It will remain largely unchanged in terms of features. Expect to pay a premium of Rs.50,000-70,000 over the respective petrol counterpart. Tata might also announce the Nexon DCA which will replace the current AMT transmission offered with the Nexon. The 5 speed dual-clutch gearbox currently does duties on the Altroz automatic petrol variants. This change will help Tata address a major weak point of the Nexon with respect to its rivals such as the Maruti Brezza, Hyundai Venue and Nissan Magnite among others.
