Hyundai India 30 years – Commitment to India

The story of Hyundai India 30 years is deeply rooted in long-term commitment and investment in the country. Since its inception, HMIL has invested ₹40,700 crore in building world-class infrastructure, strengthening operations, and nurturing local talent. Looking ahead, the company has outlined an additional ₹45,000 crore investment between FY26 and FY30. With an average localization level of 82 percent, Hyundai has significantly contributed to strengthening India’s supply chain while reducing dependency on imports. This sustained approach reinforces how Hyundai India 30 years has aligned itself closely with India’s economic and industrial growth.

Hyundai India 30 years – Manufacturing and Expansion

Hyundai’s manufacturing journey in India began with its facility in Sriperumbudur near Chennai, which was commissioned in 1998 and marked the company’s first integrated plant outside South Korea. Over time, this facility has evolved into a benchmark for advanced and sustainable manufacturing practices. The operationalization of the Talegaon plant in Pune in 2025 further strengthened Hyundai’s production capabilities in India. Together, these facilities currently offer a combined production capacity of 9.94 lakh units annually, which is expected to scale up to 10.74 lakh units by 2028. This expansion firmly establishes India as a critical global manufacturing hub in the Hyundai India 30 years journey.

Hyundai India 30 years – Sales and Service Network

A key pillar of Hyundai India 30 years has been its expansive and accessible network. The company has built a strong presence across the country with over 1,500 sales outlets spread across more than 1,100 cities, ensuring widespread reach and accessibility. Complementing this is a robust service network comprising 1,675 touchpoints across 1,025 cities, supported by over 50,000 trained professionals. Hyundai has consistently introduced digital innovations in aftersales service, including online repair tracking, live service updates, and remote diagnostics. These advancements have helped the brand maintain high customer satisfaction levels and strengthen long-term trust.

Hyundai India 30 years – Exports

Hyundai Motor India has emerged as the largest exporter of passenger vehicles from India on a cumulative basis, exporting over 3.9 million units to more than 150 countries. This global reach highlights the success of its “Make in India, Made for the World” philosophy. Indian-manufactured models such as the Verna, Grand i10 Nios, and Aura have found strong acceptance in international markets, further reinforcing India’s importance in Hyundai’s global strategy. This export success remains a defining aspect of Hyundai India 30 years.

Hyundai Verna shown for reference

Hyundai India 30 years – Sustainability and CSR Initiatives

Sustainability has been an integral part of Hyundai’s operations in India. All its offices and manufacturing facilities are powered by 100 percent renewable energy under the RE100 initiative. The company has implemented extensive water conservation and recycling measures, including rainwater harvesting and zero liquid discharge systems. Through its CSR arm, Hyundai has invested over ₹803 crore since 2014, impacting more than 2.2 million lives annually. Its initiatives span environmental conservation, education, healthcare, and skill development, including large-scale tree plantations, school support programs, and livelihood generation efforts. These initiatives reflect Hyundai’s broader responsibility towards society throughout Hyundai India 30 years.

Hyundai India 30 years – Future Roadmap and Vision

Looking ahead, Hyundai is focused on accelerating its growth through investments in electrification, advanced mobility solutions, and new product development. The company plans to introduce 26 new products by FY2030, including a mix of new models, facelifts, and upgrades. As part of its premium strategy, Hyundai is also expected to bring its luxury division, Genesis, to India by 2027. This move will mark Hyundai’s entry into the luxury segment and further expand its portfolio in the country. The future outlook reinforces Hyundai India 30 years as not just a milestone, but a foundation for the next phase of growth.

Picture this. Every four years, cricket fans across the globe come together for one spectacle, the ICC ODI World Cup. The best teams, the biggest players, and the highest stakes. At the top of that mountain sits Australia, six time champions and the most successful team in World Cup history. India follows with two titles, the latest in 2011, along with a heartbreak in 2023 that slipped through their fingers against Australia.

Then there are the others. The legacy giants like the West Indies, who have had their golden era. The ever dangerous sides like Sri Lanka, New Zealand, and England. And the rising disruptors, Afghanistan, proving they belong on the biggest stage.

And then there is South Africa.

A team that has always had the talent, the firepower, and the respect. A side that has produced some of the most iconic players the game has ever seen, from AB de Villiers lighting up the IPL with RCB, to Faf du Plessis leading with iconic stints at CSK and RCB. A team that shows up, delivers, dominates even, but somehow, the World Cup trophy has always remained just out of reach.

Now you might be wondering, why are we talking about cricket in a car review? Because in a strange way, South Africa reminds me of a certain brand in India and that brand being Volkswagen.

For over a decade and a half, Volkswagen has given India some truly memorable cars. Cars that enthusiasts swear by. Cars that feel solid, engineered, and built with intent. The Volkswagen Polo, for instance, is not just a car, it is a nameplate that needs no introduction.

And yet, much like South Africa in the World Cup, Volkswagen has always been close, but never quite at the top when it comes to outright sales success. While their Korean and Japanese rivals raced ahead with numbers, Volkswagen stayed the enthusiat’s choice, respected, admired, but not always the bestseller.

Until things began to change. With its India 2.0 strategy, Volkswagen hit reset. A new approach, a new platform, the MQB A0 IN, built specifically for Indian conditions and from that came a car that would go on to shift the narrative. Enter the Volkswagen Taigun.

Over 1.4 lakh units in five years. A proper success story. Not just in terms of sales, but in how it reintroduced Volkswagen to a new generation of buyers. And now, the story moves forward. Because the Taigun is back, with its first ever facelift. So the question is simple. Has Volkswagen just made a good car better, or is this finally the moment where, like South Africa chasing that elusive trophy, they go all the way?

Volkswagen Taigun – Exterior Design

At first glance, the Volkswagen Taigun does look fresh. Up front is where most of the changes are. You get a completely reworked face with a new bumper, new grille, and redesigned headlamps. The inspiration is obvious. Volkswagen has clearly leaned into its global SUV design language, borrowing cues from cars like the Volkswagen Tiguan and the Volkswagen Tayron. The headlamps now feel sleeker, slightly more curved, and are paired with a thin eyebrow style DRL. Then there is the light bar. It runs across the grille, neatly tying the front together, and yes, you now get an illuminated Volkswagen logo as well.

Move to the rear, and things calm down quite a bit. In fact, if you are not paying attention, you might miss the updates altogether. The connected LED tail lamps continue, and the biggest addition here is, again, the illuminated logo.

From the side, nothing really changes, and that is not a bad thing. The silhouette remains clean, well proportioned, and very European in its stance. The wheelbase stays the same at 2651 mm, which means the overall proportions that worked earlier continue to do their job here as well.

To keep things fresh, there are new alloy wheel designs depending on the variant, ranging from 16 inch to 17 inch. Some of them look quite smart, but the blacked-out alloys on the GT Line are not quite it. For something wearing a GT badge, you expect a bit more flair, maybe something that actually looks sporty instead of feeling like an easy blackout job done five minutes before a presentation.

And then there is one thing that genuinely does not make sense. The fog lamps are gone.

In a country like India, where visibility can go from perfect to zero in seconds, fog lamps are not a luxury, they are a necessity. The pre facelift car had them but this one does not. And it is not like the headlamps have taken a massive leap forward to compensate for that loss. This feels less like a design decision and more like a cost cutting one, and it shows. Overall, the design stays true to what the Taigun has always been about. It is subtle, understated, and quietly premium. And that is the whole point.

Volkswagen Taigun – Interior Design and Features

Step inside the Volkswagen Taigun, and you will realise this is not where Volkswagen has gone all out with changes. The layout, the overall design, and the sense of familiarity are all carried over from before. There are a few tweaks here and there, mostly in terms of colours and materials, but if you have spent time in the pre facelift car, this will feel instantly familiar.

Front and centre is the 10.1 inch touchscreen, now running an updated interface. It is cleaner, a bit more responsive, and comes with some level of AI integration to make things feel more modern. Right behind the steering wheel, you get the digital instrument cluster. Again, updated UI and UX, along with four configurable display modes. It looks sharp, it is easy to read, and more importantly, it does not try to be overly complicated, very “Volkswagen” in that sense.

Now, the biggest change inside the cabin is hard to miss. The introduction of a panoramic sunroof. The earlier single pane unit is still around in lower variants, but the top variants finally get the full glass treatment. And yes, it makes a difference. The cabin feels airier, more open, and more in sync with what buyers in this segment expect today.

You also get a voice assistant that wakes up with a simple “Hello Volkswagen” or “Hello VW” and can control functions like the AC or infotainment. Some people will call it gimmicky but I do not entirely disagree. But here is the thing, it works and if it works without being annoying, I am not complaining.

Then there are the features that actually matter in India. Ventilated front seats with electric adjustment, which is a blessing in our climate. A heated rear windscreen, rear wiper with intermittent function, and Volkswagen’s touch based Climatronic AC system. What is even better is that a lot of the essentials, like the rear wiper and automatic climate control, are available right from the base variants.

This is something the Volkswagen Group has been doing well in India lately, and it deserves credit. We saw it with the Skoda Kushaq too, where important features were not locked behind the top variants. It is a simple idea, but one that more manufacturers really need to take seriously.

Now, for the misses. And there are a few that stand out.

First, the lack of a 360 degree camera. In a car of this size and to a segment where this feature is quickly becoming standard, it feels like an obvious omission.

Second, the absence of an electronic parking brake with auto hold. Yes, you still get a good old physical handbrake. And personally, I do not mind it and there is a certain charm to it. But in bumper to bumper traffic, an electronic parking brake with auto hold is not just a convenience, it is a genuine life saver and its absence here is noticeable.

The second row is where things get a bit puzzling. The Taigun’s sibling, the Skoda Kushaq, tried to stand out with rear seat features like massaging seats. The Taigun, on the other hand, still plays it safe. No standout feature to really set it apart. Something like rear ventilated seats or maybe front memory seats could have been a game changer here.

And then there is one trend that is quietly picking up pace in India, rear sunshades. We all saw the sunroof craze take over in the early 2020s. Now, in the mid 2020s, rear sunshades are slowly becoming the next big thing. And honestly, I am all for it. Unlike sunroofs, which often end up being misused, sunshades actually make a lot of sense in our conditions. This feels like a missed opportunity for Volkswagen here.

Volkswagen Taigun – Interior Comfort

On paper, the Volkswagen Taigun measures in at around 4.2 metres in length. And in this segment, that is on the shorter side. Put it next to something like the Hyundai Creta or the Kia Seltos, especially the newer Seltos which is now pushing close to the 4.4 metre mark, and you can see where this is going. And yes, you do feel that difference once you step inside.

Now, to Volkswagen’s credit, the 2651 mm wheelbase does help. It is not too far off from the Seltos, which sits at around 2690 mm. So on paper, it looks competitive. But the thing is, when you package all of that into a shorter overall length, there are compromises, and they show up in the cabin.

Up front, things are absolutely fine. You get into the driver’s seat, take a few seconds to adjust everything, and you are set. The driving position is spot on. There is a slight sporty undertone to how you sit in the car, almost like it is gently cocooning you, and that adds to the overall experience.

Moving to the second row, and you will notice the legroom is tight. Not unusable, but definitely not generous. This is not a car where three adults will sit happily in the second row for a long journey. It is more of a four seater in the real world, rather than a proper five seater.

Then comes the boot. You get 385 litres of space, which is expandable up to around 1400 litres with the rear seats folded in a 60:40 split. It is usable, no complaints in terms of practicality for daily needs or a weekend trip. But again, in comparison to rivals that are comfortably offering 400 plus litres, this does sit on the lower end of the spectrum.

Volkswagen Taigun – Driving Dynamics

With the facelift, there are no major changes to the powertrains. The big update is the 1.0 litre TSI now paired with a new 8 speed torque converter, replacing the older 6 speed unit. And this, genuinely, is a solid upgrade. The extra gears make a noticeable difference. Shifts feel smoother, quicker, and at times, it almost mimics the responsiveness of a dual clutch. It is not perfect, you do get the occasional jerk or a slightly noticeable downshift, but for what this car is, it works really well.

The 1.0 litre three-cylinder itself continues to push out 115 hp and 178 Nm of torque, it feels refined, surprisingly so, and easily holds its own against some four-cylinder turbo petrols. It is punchy enough for the city and does not feel out of breath on the highway either.

Then there is the 1.5 TSI, which now gets rear disc brakes, but still misses out on a manual gearbox. That is something enthusiasts will definitely not be happy about. You only get it with the 7 speed DSG, which is great, but having the option of a manual would have added a whole different layer of engagement.

Now, coming to the steering, this is where things are slightly different from what you might expect. At low speeds, it is light, very easy to use, and perfect for city driving. But as speeds build up, it does not quite weigh up the way older Volkswagens used to.

The ride quality is on the firmer side, and that is classic Volkswagen. It is not plush, it does not try to isolate you completely, but it pays you back in handling. The Taigun feels agile, eager, and much more fun than most cars in this segment. That shorter 4.2 metre length that feels like a compromise inside actually becomes a huge advantage here. You can throw it into corners, change directions quickly, and it genuinely feels enjoyable to drive. In fact, in terms of handling and overall dynamics, this is easily one of the better cars in its class.

Volkswagen Taigun – Verdict

So, coming back to the big question, does the Volkswagen Taigun finally have what it takes to go all the way? Honestly, no. It does a lot right, it feels punchy, it is fun to drive, and the cabin still carries a sporty, premium vibe. But somewhere, it misses that unmistakable Volkswagen essence. The cost cutting, whether it is the missing fog lamps or the lower quality plastics, takes away from that solid, built to last feel you expect from Volkswagen. And in a market like India, where size and features matter, it does fall short against rivals offering more for a similar price.

That said, the Taigun has always been for a slightly different buyer. For some, it will be a first car, for others, a second or third Volkswagen, and for a few, a city runabout sharing garage space with something like a BMW 7 Series or a Mercedes-Benz S-Class. And that is where it still works. It looks good, drives well, and carries that VW badge with its understated charm.

The post 2026 Volkswagen Taigun Facelift Review: Close, But Not Quite There Yet first appeared on Shutterdrives.

The post 2026 Volkswagen Taigun Facelift Review: Close, But Not Quite There Yet appeared first on Shutterdrives.

The fifth generation Honda City is all set to receive its second facelift in India, with an official launch scheduled for May 22, 2026. First introduced in 2020 and updated once in 2023, the upcoming iteration aims to keep the City competitive in an increasingly feature-rich midsize sedan segment. The facelifted model has already been spotted testing internationally, including in Brazil, hinting at subtle yet meaningful updates.

Honda City Facelift – Expected Exterior Design

Based on recent spy shots, the changes to the exterior design of the updated City appear to be evolutionary rather than revolutionary. The overall silhouette of the sedan is expected to remain unchanged, retaining its familiar proportions and road presence.

Current Honda City shown for reference

However, Honda is likely to introduce a revised front fascia, which could include a redesigned bumper and updated LED headlamps. These elements may take inspiration from Honda’s global design language, lending the City a sharper and more contemporary look. At the rear, minor tweaks are expected in the form of redesigned tail lamps and a revised bumper, helping freshen up the appearance without altering the core design of the car. The aim appears to be a subtle refresh rather than a complete overhaul.

Honda City Facelift – Expected Interior Design and Features

Inside the cabin, the facelifted City is expected to focus on enhancing the in-car experience through feature upgrades. The current model already offers a well-equipped interior, including a large touchscreen infotainment system, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a premium sound system, ambient lighting, a PM2.5 air filter, and automatic climate control.

Current Honda City shown for reference

With increasing competition, Honda may introduce a larger touchscreen unit to improve usability and match segment expectations. Additionally, new features such as ventilated front seats and a 360 degree camera system could be added, both of which are becoming increasingly common in this segment.

There is also speculation about the introduction of a panoramic sunroof, replacing the current single pane unit. However, this remains unconfirmed and will only be validated at the time of launch. Overall, Honda is expected to retain the existing feature set while adding select enhancements to keep the City relevant.

Honda City Facelift – Expected Powertrain Options

Mechanically, the facelifted City is expected to continue with the same set of powertrain options currently available in India. The standard petrol variant is powered by a 1.5 litre naturally aspirated engine producing 121 HP and 145 Nm of torque. This engine is offered with either a 6 speed manual transmission or a CVT automatic gearbox.

The highlight of the lineup remains the strong hybrid variant, which combines a 1.5 litre petrol engine with an electric motor. This setup produces a combined output of 124 HP and 233 Nm of torque, making it the only hybrid sedan currently available in its segment.

Current Honda City shown for reference

While there is a possibility of minor refinements for improved efficiency or drivability, a significant increase in power output is unlikely. Honda is expected to focus on reliability and efficiency rather than outright performance gains.

Honda City Facelift – Market Positioning and Rivals

Once launched, the updated City will continue to compete in the midsize sedan segment against key rivals such as the Hyundai Verna, Volkswagen Virtus, and Skoda Slavia.

The Verna recently received a major update with several segment leading features, raising the bar in terms of technology and performance. Meanwhile, both the Virtus and Slavia have been spotted testing updated versions and are expected to receive facelifts later in 2026, indicating increased competition in the segment.

Currently, the petrol variants of the City are priced between Rs 11.95 lakh and Rs 16.05 lakh, while the hybrid variants range from Rs 19.48 lakh to Rs 22 lakh, ex showroom. With the addition of new features in the facelifted model, a slight increase in pricing is expected.

The post 2026 Honda City facelift launch on this date: What’s new in Verna, Virtus rival first appeared on Shutterdrives.

The post 2026 Honda City facelift launch on this date: What’s new in Verna, Virtus rival appeared first on Shutterdrives.

The first four months of 2026 have already delivered a solid mix of launches across segments, from EVs to performance SUVs and premium sedans. Now, as we step into May, the momentum clearly continues. The upcoming car launches in May promise a diverse lineup that includes flagship SUVs, EVs, facelifts, and even a few halo products.

From MG stepping into full size SUV dominance to Tata expanding its EV portfolio, here is a detailed look at what to expect this month.

Upcoming Car Launches in May – MG Majestor

Leading the upcoming car launches in May is the MG Majestor. Positioned as a replacement for the Gloster, this is MG’s most ambitious SUV yet and clearly aimed at the Fortuner dominated segment.

Under the hood, it gets a 2 litre twin turbo diesel engine producing 215 hp and 478 Nm, paired to an 8 speed automatic. There is also an optional four wheel drive system with low range and multiple locking differentials, along with 10 off road modes, making it a serious off road contender.

The Majestor stands out in size too, measuring over 5 metres in length, making it the largest in its segment. Inside, it packs dual 12.4 inch displays, a panoramic sunroof, JBL sound system, ventilated and massaging seats, and three zone climate control, positioning it as a feature loaded alternative to its rivals.

Expected pricing is between Rs 40 lakh to Rs 45 lakh ex showroom, which could make it quite aggressive for what it offers.

Upcoming Car Launches in May – Tata Sierra EV

One of the most anticipated entries in the upcoming car launches in May is the Tata Sierra EV. This is not just another EV, but the return of an iconic nameplate in a completely modern avatar.

While Tata has not revealed full specifications yet, the EV version is expected to share design elements with the ICE Sierra, including the triple screen layout and premium cabin experience. The EV gets a closed off grille and subtle design tweaks to differentiate it, while still retaining the classic Sierra silhouette.

Battery specs are still under wraps, but it is likely to use a 65 kWh pack similar to the Harrier EV, with a projected range between 400 to 500 km. If priced right, it could become a strong volume driver in Tata’s EV portfolio. It will sit below the Harrier EV and compete with other midsize electric SUVs in the market, which is currently heating up rapidly.

Upcoming Car Launches in May – Honda City Facelift

The Honda City returns to the upcoming car launches in May 2026 India list with its second facelift. Even today, the City continues to hold strong recall and brand value in the sedan space.

Expected to retain its 1.5 litre petrol and strong hybrid powertrains, the update will mainly focus on design changes. These include revisions to the front fascia, bumpers, and tail lamps, giving it a fresher look to stay relevant.

Current Honda City shown for reference

The City continues to stand out as the only hybrid sedan in its segment, which remains a strong selling point. Honda could also tweak feature distribution across variants to make the lineup more competitive.

Upcoming Car Launches in May – Honda ZRV

Joining the City in the upcoming car launches in May is the Honda ZR V, a premium SUV that will be brought in as a CBU. This is clearly aimed at strengthening Honda’s presence in the premium segment.

It is expected to be powered by a 2 litre petrol hybrid system producing around 180 hp. Globally, it offers features like powered seats, ADAS, dual zone climate control, and a powered tailgate, giving it a proper premium appeal.

With an expected price of Rs 45 lakh to Rs 50 lakh, it will act as a halo product for Honda in India. It will also serve as a brand builder rather than a volume seller.

Upcoming Car Launches in May – Urban Cruiser Ebella

Another key model in the upcoming car launches in May is the Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella. This marks Toyota’s first step into the EV segment in India.

Essentially a rebadged version of the Maruti e Vitara, it comes with two battery options. A 49 kWh pack with 440 km range and a 61 kWh pack delivering up to 543 km. Power outputs stand at 140 hp and 174 hp respectively. Features include dual screens, wireless connectivity, and automatic climate control, keeping it on par with rivals.

Pricing is expected to be close to the eVitara range, which could make it a practical and reliable EV choice for buyers.

Upcoming Car Launches in May – Skoda Kodiaq RS

Performance enthusiasts have something to look forward to in the upcoming car launches in May with the Skoda Kodiaq RS. This is essentially the sportiest version of Skoda’s flagship SUV. Powered by a 2 litre turbo petrol engine tuned to 265 hp and 400 Nm, it comes with all wheel drive and a 7 speed DSG. Skoda claims a 0 to 100 kmph time of just 6.3 seconds, which is impressive for a large SUV.

Sportier styling, 20 inch wheels, and an all black interior with red accents make it stand apart from the standard Kodiaq. It is clearly targeted at enthusiasts who want performance with practicality. Expected pricing is between Rs 55 lakh to Rs 60 lakh, placing it firmly in the premium performance SUV space.

Upcoming Car Launches in May – BMW M440i Convertible

Adding a touch of performance luxury to the upcoming car launches in May is the BMW M440i Convertible, which was revealed last month.

It uses the same 3 litre B58 turbo petrol engine doing duty on the M340i producing 374 hp and 500 Nm, paired with an automatic transmission and xDrive all wheel drive system.

The soft top roof can open in just 18 seconds at speeds up to 50 kmph, making it as practical as it is stylish. It competes primarily against the Mercedes-Benz CLE 300 Convertible.

Upcoming Car Launches in May – Mini Countryman C

Rounding off the upcoming car launches in May 2026 is the Mini Countryman C. This version is expected to make the Countryman lineup more accessible.

Mini Countryman JCW ALL4 shown for reference

Unlike the performance focused JCW version, this variant is expected to be locally assembled and more accessible. It will likely use a 1.5 litre turbo petrol engine producing 136 hp and 230 Nm.

Sharing its platform with the BMW X1, it aims to bring premium compact SUV appeal at a relatively lower price point. It could attract buyers looking for something quirky yet premium.

The post Cars, SUVs launching in May 2026: Honda City, Majestor & more first appeared on Shutterdrives.

The post Cars, SUVs launching in May 2026: Honda City, Majestor & more appeared first on Shutterdrives.

Renault Triber has received its first update for the 2026 model year, following its facelift that was introduced in July 2025. This update focuses on improving comfort, practicality, and feature distribution across variants, making the already value-focused MPV more appealing for family buyers. With prices starting at Rs. 5.8 lakh and going up to Rs. 8.47 lakh (ex-showroom), the Triber will be offered in four variants: Authentic, Evolution, Techno, and Emotion.

Renault Triber – Exterior Design

The 2026 Triber carries forward the facelifted design introduced last year. At the front, it features LED headlamps with eyebrow-shaped LED DRLs, a sculpted grille with the updated Renault 2D logo, and a silver garnish on the bumper that adds a bit of contrast. Fog lamps are also included depending on the variant.

Renault Triber – Interior Design and Features

Inside, the Triber gets a refreshed cabin with a dual-tone dashboard and a floating 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, which supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. One of the key highlights of the 2026 update is the addition of segment-first features like automatic climate control and second-row one-touch fold and tumble function. These features improve usability, especially for accessing the third row.

Feature additions have also been spread across variants. The Evolution variant now gets steering-mounted controls, a day-night IRVM, and a rear cabin lamp. The Techno variant adds a driver armrest, height-adjustable driver seat, rear defogger, 12V socket for the third row, tweeters, and electrically foldable ORVMs. The top-end Emotion variant now comes with automatic climate control.

The Triber continues to offer flexible seating configurations in 5, 6, and 7-seat layouts. With the second row fully folded, boot space goes up to 1,065 litres, making it one of the most practical cars in its segment.

Renault Triber – Safety Features and Powertrain

Safety remains a strong point, with the Triber offering 21 standard safety features. These include six airbags, ABS with EBD, tyre pressure monitoring system, and electronic stability control. It also continues to hold a four-star Global NCAP safety rating.

Under the hood, the Triber is powered by a 1.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that produces 72 hp and 96 Nm of torque. It is available with a 5-speed manual transmission and an AMT option on the top variant.

Renault Triber – Price and Variants

The Triber occupies a unique space as a sub-four-metre MPV with three rows. Its only direct rival is the Gravite, essentially its badge-engineered sibling from Nissan. Beyond that, it competes in pricing with premium hatchbacks like the Maruti Suzuki Swift and Hyundai Grand i10 Nios.

Commenting on the launch, Francisco Hidalgo Marques, Vice President, Sales & Marketing, Renault India said, “The Second-Generation Renault Triber has been celebrated as the ultimate family car in the segment, and with this thoughtful upgrade we’ve taken practicality and comfort to the next level.

The updated model represents the first facelift since its initial launch in 2023, bringing with it a series of meaningful upgrades across design, technology, and performance. The highlight of this update is the introduction of a larger 84 kWh battery pack, replacing the earlier 72.6 kWh unit, along with an increase in the claimed driving range from 631 km to 690 km.

This update positions the Ioniq 5 more competitively in India’s growing premium EV space, while also enhancing its appeal as a long-range electric crossover.

Hyundai Ioniq 5 Facelift – Exterior Design

The facelift introduces subtle yet noticeable changes to the exterior design, while retaining the model’s distinctive retro-futuristic identity. The front bumper has been redesigned, lending the car a sharper and more contemporary appearance. Complementing this are newly designed aero-optimised 20 inch alloy wheels, aimed at improving efficiency.

At the rear, the updates include a revised bumper with a new diffuser and a redesigned spoiler, further enhancing the aerodynamic profile. The signature parametric pixel lighting continues to define the design, now complemented by a deeper garnish lighting treatment.

Additional updates include revised front and rear skid plates, adding a slightly more rugged visual character. Despite these changes, the overall silhouette and dimensions remain largely unchanged, preserving the original design language. The facelifted Ioniq 5 is offered in a range colours, including Gravity Gold Matte, Midnight Black Pearl, Titan Grey and Optic White.

Hyundai Ioniq 5 Facelift – Interior Design and Features

Inside, the updates focus on enhancing both functionality and premium appeal. The cabin now features a new three-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated four-dot motif, representing the letter ‘H’ in Morse code. The steering wheel is leather-wrapped and now includes a heating function.

The dashboard is dominated by dual 12.3-inch screens for infotainment and instrumentation, now updated with improved interface and connectivity features. The redesigned wireless charging pad integrates physical controls for heated and ventilated seats, improving usability.

In terms of technology, the Ioniq 5 facelift offers a comprehensive suite of connected features, including Hyundai’s connected car navigation cockpit, over-the-air updates, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and an active sound design system. Additionally, new features such as in-car payment integration for EV charging and remote immobilisation via Hyundai BlueLink further enhance convenience.

Hyundai Ioniq 5 Facelift – Safety and Battery Pack

Safety features remain extensive, with the facelift introducing additional systems such as rear parking collision avoidance assist and side parking distance warning. These complement the existing suite of advanced driver assistance and safety technologies.

The most significant mechanical upgrade comes in the form of the new 84 kWh battery pack. In its rear-wheel-drive configuration, the Ioniq 5 now offers a claimed range of 690 km. While India-specific power figures have not been disclosed, the global-spec version produces 229 hp and 350 Nm of torque, representing a slight increase over the outgoing model’s 215 hp output.

Hyundai Ioniq 5 Facelift – Price and Rivals

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 facelift has been priced at Rs 55.7 lakh ex-showroom and is offered in a single variant. In the Indian market, it competes with other premium electric offerings such as the Kia EV6, BMW iX1 LWB, Volvo EX40 and the BYD Sealion 7. Based on the Maruti Suzuki Baleno platform, the Fronx blends coupe-like styling with SUV-like proportions, thanks to its higher ground clearance and raised stance.

In Maruti Suzuki’s lineup, the Fronx sits below the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and the Maruti Suzuki Brezza, acting as a style-focused crossover alternative. Alongside this, the facelifted Baleno has also been spotted testing recently, suggesting a broader update strategy for Maruti’s premium lineup.

Maruti Suzuki Fronx Facelift – Expected Exterior Design

Based on the test mule, the updates appear to be subtle rather than radical. The overall silhouette remains largely unchanged, continuing with the coupe-like roofline that defines the Fronx’s design. The stance and dimensions also seem identical to the current model, reinforcing that this is more of a cosmetic refresh than a complete overhaul.

That said, minor revisions are expected across the front fascia, including slight tweaks to the grille and headlamp design. The bumpers at both ends could also receive updates, while the rear may get refreshed tail-light detailing. These changes should help the Fronx look sharper and more contemporary without straying too far from its existing design language.

Maruti Suzuki Fronx Facelift – Expected Interior Design and Features

The spy shots do not reveal the interior, but the current Maruti Suzuki Fronx already offers a fairly loaded cabin with a 9-inch touchscreen, a 360-degree camera, a heads-up display, climate control and connected car technology.

Current Maruti Suzuki Fronx interior shown for reference

With the facelift, Maruti Suzuki could push things further by introducing a larger infotainment screen along with an updated user interface and user experience. Improvements in material quality are also likely, along with the possibility of a premium sound system. Given how competitive the segment has become, the addition of a sunroof cannot be ruled out either. However, these remain speculative and will only be confirmed at the time of launch.

Maruti Suzuki Fronx Facelift – Expected Powertrains

Mechanically, the Fronx facelift is expected to retain its existing engine options. The 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine produces 89 hp and 113 Nm of torque and is offered with both manual and AMT options, along with a CNG variant in manual form. The more performance-oriented 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine delivers 99 hp and 148 Nm of torque and comes paired with either a manual or a torque converter automatic.

Looking ahead, there is a strong possibility that Maruti Suzuki could introduce a strong hybrid or even a flex-fuel version of the Fronx. Reports suggest that these powertrains are being actively evaluated, which could significantly enhance the model’s appeal from an efficiency standpoint.

Maruti Suzuki Fronx Facelift – Expected Launch Timeline

While the test mules suggest that development is well underway, there is currently no official confirmation from Maruti Suzuki regarding the exact launch timeline. Based on the stage of testing, the Fronx facelift is expected to make its debut sometime in the second half of 2026

Currently the Maruti Suzuki Fronx is priced between ₹6.85 lakh and ₹11.98 lakh (ex-showroom), the updated model is expected to command a slight premium over the existing version. While the exact increase remains uncertain, a price bump is almost inevitable given the upgrades.

Competing with rivals like the Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, Kia Sonet, Syros, Toyota Taisor, Skoda Kylaq and Mahindra XUV 3XO the Fronx continues to stand out with its coupe-inspired styling and urban-focused appeal.

Car manufacturers have had interesting nomenclature approaches when it comes to naming their cars, some say it is brand uniformity, others say when you think of a name you can subconsciously relate to that brand and some people outright call it superstition. We have seen it on many brands, for Instance Mahnindra with their never-ending saga of SUVs ending wit the letter “O”, “Scorpio”, “Bolero”, “XUV 7XO” and then Skoda with their SUVs names starting with K and ending with Q, like Kodiaq, Kushaq and Kylaq.

But the brand we’re focusing on today is MG, they have SUVs like the Astor and the Hector and now there’s a new SUV on the block right on top of the SUV food chain, the MG Majestor. MG says this is India’s D+ segment SUV, meaning it sits slightly above the regular D segment SUVs in terms of features, size, comfort and appeal. So, call it superstition or subconscious marketing, but in this segment, you need a lot more than just a good name, especially when the Fortuner has been sitting comfortably at the top for years.

MG Majestor – Exterior Design

From the first glance, the MG Majestor looks imposing, an attribute which unfortunately its predecessor did not fully carry. Up front, you get slim LED DRLs, along with a piano black grille that has chunky elements, giving it a strong sense of presence and that butch appeal. The front skid plate is finished in silver and is segmented, which adds to the wide stance of the car.

The headlights are vertically stacked triple projector units, and you also get additional thin DRLs integrated into the grille, apart from the ones above the headlamp. The grille itself looks wide and properly fills up the front fascia, adding to that butch look.

Moving to the side, dimensionally, it looks longer and taller than most rivals, and that is because it is. The MG Majestor measures 5046mm in length, 2016mm in width, and 1870mm in height, making it the tallest, widest, and longest in the segment. And if it is going up against cars like the Fortuner, it needs those numbers to compete.

It rides on 19 inch diamond cut alloy wheels, which fit the overall design well. They do not feel too big or too small. You also get thick plastic cladding around the wheel arches, which adds to the SUV stance. From the side, you do notice some resemblance to its predecessor, the MG Gloster.

At the rear, you get a connected tail lamp design. Interestingly, you do not see the MG logo here. Instead, you get Morris Garages spelled out, with the “Majestor” badge placed below it. The bumper is chunky with plastic cladding, and you get dual exhaust tips, which look much cleaner than the fake quad exhausts seen on the Gloster.

That said, the rear, especially with the multiple badges, Morris Garages and Majestor, does feel slightly overdone. A simpler MG logo would have probably worked better. But overall, it still looks good. Talking about the exterior specs briefly, the ground clearance is 219mm, which is quite solid, and it has a water wading capacity of 810mm. We will get into how that translates on the road when we talk about the driving.

MG Majestor – Interior Design and Features

The interiors have been completely redesigned compared to its predecessor, although some elements like the steering wheel have been carried forward.

The cabin has a simple and minimalistic layout with a monotone black finish. At the center, you get a large free standing 12.3 inch touchscreen, with AC vents placed neatly below it. There is also a 12.3 inch digital instrument cluster. The steering wheel feels chunky and comes loaded with physical buttons for cruise control, volume, and media controls, which is always a good thing.

In the center console, you get dual wireless phone chargers, and there are these silver chunky grab handles, which honestly feel like something you would see on a Mercedes GLE or even a Porsche Cayenne. On the dashboard as well, on the driver and co driver side, you get a large grab handle, which does remind you of something like the older generation Mahindra Scorpio or even the Mercedes G-Class.

Overall, the cabin looks clean and well put together.

In terms of features, you get front massage seats with eight massage patterns, ventilated front seats, and a 12-way powered seats with memory function for the driver seats and ORVM. There is also three zone climate control, 64 way ambient lighting, and a 12 speaker JBL sound system.

For connectivity, you get wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, along with MG’s iSmart 2.0 connected car system, which offers around 75 connected features. There is also a panoramic sunroof that adds a sense of airiness to the otherwise all black cabin.

Moving to the second row, you have the option of either a bench seat or two individual captain seats. One thing that feels like a miss, especially for India, is the absence of rear sunshades. Given the amount of glass area in a car of this size, it is something manufacturers should really start including more consistently. Apart from that, you get multiple charging ports, a 220 volt power socket, and a powered tailgate.

MG Majestor – Comfort

The MG Majestor prioritises comfort and refinement within the full-size SUV segment, offering a more composed ride while retaining its core capabilities. It uses a double-wishbone front suspension and a five-link rear setup, tuned to absorb road imperfections effectively. Over uneven surfaces, the suspension filters out sharp impacts, keeping the cabin insulated and reducing disturbance for occupants.

At higher speeds, the SUV remains stable, with controlled body movements and predictable behaviour over highway undulations. The suspension avoids excessive softness, maintaining a balance between comfort and stability. In city conditions, the Majestor handles speed breakers and potholes with a softer setup, improving everyday usability. The suspension absorbs minor imperfections, making it suitable for daily driving, especially on inconsistent road surfaces.

Rear-seat comfort is a key focus, particularly in variants with captain seats. The suspension limits vertical movement, ensuring a composed ride for passengers. However, seat support may vary depending on configuration, with taller occupants potentially finding limited thigh support. Despite its comfort-oriented tuning, the MG Majestor maintains its ability to handle rough roads. The suspension manages impacts while keeping the vehicle stable and aiding traction over uneven terrain.

Overall, the setup delivers effective ride quality, stable high-speed behaviour, strong rear-seat comfort and adequate off-road capability, positioning the MG Majestor as a comfort-focused SUV suited for long-distance use.

MG Majestor – Driving and Performance

The MG Majestor uses the same 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel engine and 8-speed automatic gearbox as the Gloster, producing around 213 to 215hp and 478Nm, with no changes to the powertrain. The engine is tuned for strong low-end torque, making it easy to drive in city conditions with minimal effort. Power delivery is linear, aided by the twin-turbo setup, and remains consistent across the rev range, supporting steady highway performance. Refinement is typical for a diesel, with some noise at lower speeds, but it becomes less noticeable while cruising. The 8-speed automatic transmission prioritises smooth shifts, operating unobtrusively in traffic and maintaining low engine revs at higher speeds.

The MG Majestor is stable for an SUV its size given the ladder-frame construction and comfort-oriented suspension setup. At low speeds, the steering remains light, aiding manoeuvrability in city conditions and tight spaces, while retaining enough consistency for accurate placement. As speeds rise, steering weight increases, improving control and straight-line stability on highways.

In corners, body roll is evident but controlled, with the suspension managing lateral movement to maintain composure. The SUV is not tuned for aggressive driving, but remains stable during routine directional changes. The ladder-frame architecture results in less sharp responses compared to monocoque SUVs, though it contributes to a more robust and stable feel across varied road conditions.

On uneven surfaces, the suspension allows the wheels to maintain contact with the ground, supporting grip and control. Handling remains predictable without sudden shifts in behaviour. The available four-wheel-drive system improves traction in low-grip conditions by distributing power across the wheels, enhancing stability on loose or uneven terrain.

Braking is progressive and stable, with the SUV maintaining control even under higher-speed deceleration. Overall, the MG Majestor’s handling focuses on ease of use and consistent behaviour, making it suited for highway driving, daily use and occasional off-road conditions rather than dynamic performance.

MG Majestor – Offroad Hardware

The MG Majestor, unlike most of its rivals, comes with a serious amount of off road hardware. To begin with, you get triple differential locks for the front, centre, and rear differentials, which is something you do not usually see in this segment.

You also get a low range gearbox with multiple drive modes including four wheel drive low, four wheel drive high, two wheel drive high, and an auto mode. In terms of terrain modes, there are 10 on offer, including snow, rock, normal, sand, and mud.

There is also a segment first crawl control feature, which is essentially a low speed cruise control for off road situations, making tricky sections a lot easier to manage.

And as mentioned earlier, it also offers a water wading capacity of 810 millimetres, which is the highest in the segment. Which means, if you are a Bangalorean or a Mumbaikar reading this, especially during the monsoons, you really do not have to worry about driving through flooded streets in the Majestor.

MG Majestor – Safety

On the safety front, the MG Majestor stands out in a very specific way. It is currently the only ladder frame SUV in its segment to offer Level 2 ADAS. Most other cars that offer ADAS in this price bracket are based on monocoque platforms.

The system includes features like adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, intelligent headlamp control, and lane keep assist. Beyond ADAS, you also get a 360 degree camera, electronic parking brake, auto hold, hill hold assist, hill descent control, and rollover mitigation, along with six airbags.

Now while six airbags is the current standard across the industry, for a car of this size and positioning, it does feel slightly underwhelming. Especially when rivals like the Fortuner offer seven airbags, and cars like the Kodiaq and even the Volkswagen Tayron offer nine, MG could have considered seven or maybe eight.

MG Majestor – Verdict

As a package, the MG Majestor brings together a lot. There is a strong focus on luxury, tech and creature comforts, the cabin feels well put together for the most part, and the overall size and road presence definitely work in its favour. Yes, lower down in the cabin you do come across some scratchy plastics, but that is something we have seen across the segment and it is not a deal breaker.

That said, the biggest question still remains pricing. And that is going to be the deciding factor. If MG wants to seriously challenge something like the Fortuner, pricing has to be spot on. If they manage to place it somewhere in the 40 to 45 lakh rupee range, this could turn out to be a very strong contender in the segment, and possibly one of the most well rounded options out there.

The post 2026 MG Majestor Review: Built to Challenge the Fortuner, and Change MG’s Fortunes? first appeared on Shutterdrives.

The post 2026 MG Majestor Review: Built to Challenge the Fortuner, and Change MG’s Fortunes? appeared first on Shutterdrives.

Unveiled earlier this year, the CLA EV marks a major shift for the brand as it replaces multiple entry level models in its India lineup. This includes cars like the Mercedes-Benz A-Class Limousine as well as electric SUVs such as the Mercedes-Benz EQB. Built on a new 800 volt architecture, the CLA Electric focuses on efficiency, range and faster charging.

The CLA Electric is offered in three variants. There is the CLA 200 standard range, the CLA 250 Plus long range with AMG line styling, and the CLA 250 Plus launch edition. While the variants differ in equipment and styling, the overall silhouette remains unchanged. The coupe inspired roofline continues to define the design and gives the car its sporty stance.

Mercedes-Benz CLA Electric – Exterior Design

At the front, the CLA Electric gets a sharp nose with connected LED headlamps and DRLs. The grille is closed off, as expected from an EV, and features an illuminated Mercedes logo along with multiple small three point star elements finished in chrome. The standard variant uses the Progressive line styling, while the long range and launch edition get AMG line elements for a more aggressive look. The launch edition further stands out with a Cosmos Black Magno paint finish, a night package and 19 inch alloy wheels.

Mercedes-Benz CLA Electric – Interior Design and Features

Step inside and the cabin feels modern and tech focused. The CLA 200 and CLA 250 Plus come with a 14 inch central touchscreen and a 10.25 inch digital instrument cluster. The launch edition takes things further with the triple screen setup, along with an entertainment package for three years. It also adds leather upholstery, unique trim elements with a gold tone finish, ambient lighting with special themes, AMG floor mats and illuminated door sills. A keyless convenience package is also part of this variant.

Other features across the range include a panoramic sunroof with heat protection, wireless charging, six USB C ports with fast charging support, and electrically adjustable front seats with memory and heating functions. Rear passengers get a centre armrest, and the car also offers 40 20 40 split folding seats. Boot space stands at 405 litres, along with an additional 101 litres of storage at the front.

Mercedes-Benz CLA Electric – Battery Range and Performance

Under the skin, the CLA Electric is powered by an 85.5 kWh battery pack. The long range variants offer a claimed range of up to 792 km on the WLTP cycle, while the standard range delivers up to 542 km. The long range version produces around 268 hp, while the standard range produces about 245 hp. Torque remains the same at 335 Nm across variants.

Performance is also respectable, with the long range doing 0 to 100 kmph in 6.7 seconds and the standard range taking 7.5 seconds.

Mercedes-Benz CLA Electric – Charging and Safety

Thanks to the 800 volt architecture, charging speeds are impressive. The long range variants can add up to 400 km of range in just 20 minutes using DC fast charging, while the standard range can add up to 320 km in the same time. Mercedes Benz has also introduced its MB Charge public network in India, which covers over 9000 charging points. The system is integrated into the MBUX navigation and helps drivers find the best charging stops during a journey.

In terms of safety, the CLA Electric comes with Level 2 plus ADAS features along with over the air updates. The system is also upgradeable to include steering assist functions, making it more advanced over time.

Mercedes-Benz CLA Electric – Price and Variants

Prices for the Mercedes-Benz CLA Electric start at Rs 55 lakh for the standard range, Rs 59 lakh for the long range, and go up to Rs 64 lakh for the launch edition. Deliveries for the long range begin by the end of April 2026, while the standard variant will arrive from June.

Mercedes-Benz CLA Electric – Rivals

In terms of rivals, the Mercedes-Benz CLA Electric sits in an interesting space. It directly competes with the BYD Seal in terms of body style and pricing. At the same time, its price range also overlaps with electric SUVs like the Volvo EX40, the BMW iX1 Long Wheelbase and the Tesla Model Y. While these are not direct sedan rivals, buyers in this price bracket are likely to cross shop across body styles, making the CLA Electric a strong alternative in the premium EV segment.

Urus SE Tettonero Capsule – Exterior Design

The term “Tettonero,” derived from Italian, translates to “black roof,” and that theme defines the entire aesthetic of this edition. The upper half of the SUV is dominated by black elements, creating a striking contrast against the body. This extends beyond just the roof to include the spoiler, diffuser, exhaust tips, ORVMs, and even the lower sections of the doors and front splitter.

Despite retaining the same silhouette and proportions as the standard Urus SE, Lamborghini has elevated the visual drama through thoughtful detailing. The body can be finished in six new color options: orange, white, grey, purple, yellow, and green, some of which debut on the Urus for the first time. These shades can also be extended to the brake calipers, adding another layer of customization.

Further enhancing personalization, buyers can opt for livery and accent packs in contrasting tones such as orange, red, green, white, yellow, and metallic silver-grey. Wheel sizes range from 21 to 23 inches, allowing owners to tailor stance and road presence. A unique touch includes a sculpted badge on the front nose that commemorates Lamborghini’s founding year, reinforcing its heritage.

Carbon fibre plays a big role here too. Customers can spec carbon fibre ORVMs, front splitters, and rear diffusers, amplifying the aggressive and premium look of the SUV.

Urus SE Tettonero Capsule – Interior Design

Step inside, and the cabin continues the Tettonero philosophy. The interior is finished in Nero Ade (all black), complemented by six accent colors—purple, white, yellow, orange, green, and grey. These accents can be matched or contrasted with the exterior paint, giving buyers creative freedom.

In addition, Lamborghini offers 12 upholstery color options for seats, headrests, and cabin trims. The use of materials remains premium, with a mix of Dynamica leather and contrast microfiber. Carbon fibre inserts extend to the dashboard, where a silhouette of the Urus SE is embedded in white on the passenger side. A special “Ad Personam” plaque commemorates 20 years of Lamborghini’s customization program, adding a collectible element to this already limited-run model.

Urus SE Tettonero Capsule – Powertrain

Underneath the bespoke styling, the Urus SE Tettonero Capsule retains its plug-in hybrid powertrain. It is powered by a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine paired with a 22.9 kWh battery pack. Combined, the system produces 800 hp and 950 Nm of torque.

Performance figures remain staggering. The SUV can sprint from 0 to 100 kmph in just 3.4 seconds and offers an electric-only range of up to 60 km. Power is sent to all four wheels via an 8-speed automatic transmission.

Urus SE Tettonero Capsule – Price and India Launch

Lamborghini has not yet disclosed the official pricing for the Tettonero Capsule, nor confirmed its arrival in India. However, given that the standard Urus SE is priced at ₹4.57 crore (ex-showroom), this limited edition will command a noticeable premium. In terms of rivals, the Urus continues to occupy a niche of its own. The closest alternative remains the Audi RS Q8 Performance, which shares a similar V8 architecture but lacks hybrid assistance.

The post Lamborghini Urus SE Tettonero Capsule Revealed with 800 hp: Limited to Just 630 Units first appeared on Shutterdrives.

The post Lamborghini Urus SE Tettonero Capsule Revealed with 800 hp: Limited to Just 630 Units appeared first on Shutterdrives.
