Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Gets A New Brand Identity Under “Tata.Cars”

Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles has introduced Tata.Cars as its new consumer facing brand identity, marking a change in how the company presents its passenger vehicle business to customers. The new identity is effective immediately and will be used across consumer facing platforms, including digital channels, retail environments, service touchpoints and brand communications.

Tata.Cars brings the company’s passenger vehicle portfolio under one unified brand identity. The portfolio includes hatchbacks, sedans, premium SUVs, electric vehicles and future products. The new name is based on the way customers have commonly referred to Tata vehicles as a “Tata car”, giving the company a simple and familiar identity for its passenger vehicle business.

The new brand is built around the tagline of “Nothing’s Too Far”. According to Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles, the promise reflects the belief that mobility can help people pursue their ambitions, explore new possibilities and move closer to what matters to them. A central element is Parallel Pathways, inspired by the geometry of the Tata T and the lines that guide journeys on roads.

Parallel Pathways represents the different journeys people take while sharing a common direction towards progress. The new identity also introduces Ambition Blue, a contemporary evolution of Tata’s blue, along with Parallel Display, a bespoke typeface, and a new sonic identity.

Customers will see Tata.Cars across digital channels, retail environments, service centres and brand communications. The company said the objective is to create a more connected and consistent experience across the customer journey, from discovering a vehicle and making a purchase to ownership and future mobility services.

The identity will apply across the company’s passenger vehicle portfolio, allowing customers buying their first car, moving to a premium SUV or choosing an electric vehicle to experience the same brand philosophy.

The rebranding is limited to the consumer facing side of the passenger vehicle business. Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd. will continue to remain the legal entity and will be used for statutory, regulatory and investor communications.

The company’s vehicle product brands, safety and quality commitments, engineering capabilities and the Tata ellipse logo on its vehicles also remain unchanged. Manufacturing operations and other formal business documentation will continue under Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd.

The launch comes as Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles looks to build on its presence across internal combustion, electric and connected mobility. The company said the new identity reflects its evolution over the years, including its focus on safety, electric mobility and its expanding SUV portfolio.

With Tata.Cars, the company is bringing its passenger vehicle business under a single consumer facing identity while retaining the foundations of the existing organisation. The new identity is intended to give customers a consistent brand experience across sales, service and digital interactions.

The company will continue to operate with Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd. as its legal entity, while Tata.Cars will represent the brand across customer facing communications and touchpoints. Its new promise, “Nothing’s Too Far”, is positioned as the guiding idea behind the next phase of the passenger vehicle business. The company says the identity will evolve with customer expectations and new mobility technologies, while keeping trust, safety, quality and innovation at the centre of the brand.

TVS Jupiter Dual Tone Variant Launched With New Colours and Segment-First Features

TVS Motor Company has launched the TVS Jupiter Dual Tone spectral range, bringing new styling and feature upgrades to the 110cc scooter. The new range is available in two dual tone spectral colours, Spectral Blue and Spectral Copper, making the TVS Jupiter the first scooter in its segment to offer these colours. The Jupiter Dual Tone also gets colour coordinated inner panels, a new seat colour and partial chrome mirrors.

TVS Jupiter Dual Tone – Features

The TVS Jupiter Dual Tone introduces Sequential Turn Signal Lamps as a segment first feature. The new lighting setup provides a distinctive lighting signature while claiming also to improve visibility. The scooter also gets a long seat with an integrated backrest for the pillion. Other features include a USB Type C charging port and SmartXonnect connected technology with navigation, call and SMS alerts.

TVS Jupiter Dual Tone – Engine and Practicality

The TVS Jupiter Dual Tone continues with the 113.3 cc, single cylinder, four stroke engine. With TVS iGO Assist, the engine produces 8 hp and up to 9.8 Nm of torque. The Jupiter Dual Tone retains the scooter’s 33 litre under seat storage, which can accommodate two helmets. This is complemented by the scooter’s existing focus on everyday practicality.

TVS Jupiter Dual Tone – Price

The Jupiter Dual Tone spectral range will be available soon at authorised TVS Motor dealerships. It is priced at ₹89,825 (ex showroom, Delhi). With its new spectral colours, sequential turn signals, additional comfort features and USB Type C charging, the TVS Jupiter Dual Tone adds new styling and technology to TVS Motor’s 110cc scooter lineup.

2026 MG Hector Tomahawk EV and PHEV Launched: Details on Pricing, Range and More

JSW MG Motor India has launched the MG Hector Tomahawk in India with both EV and plug in hybrid electric vehicle powertrains. The MG Hector Tomahawk EV starts at an introductory price of ₹13.99 lakh under the Battery as a Service model with a battery rental charge of ₹4.90 per km. The MG Hector Tomahawk PHEV starts at ₹21.79 lakh with a battery rental charge of ₹3.20 per km.

The MG Hector Tomahawk is the first SUV based on MGs new ADAPT platform. The platform was unveiled last month as a Multi New Energy Vehicle platform. It supports EV and PHEV powertrains along with hybrid electric and range extender electric vehicle capabilities. The MG Hector Tomahawk is also the second new MG product launched in India this year after the MG Majestor.

MG Hector Tomahawk – Exterior Design

The MG Hector Tomahawk gets a bold design with a large stance and a long wheelbase. It measures 4745 mm in length and 1850 mm in width with a height of 1770 mm. The 2810 mm wheelbase helps create a spacious cabin while the 230 mm ground clearance at the battery adds to its SUV credentials.

The design features sculpted bumpers and signature Beacon Lights along with an illuminated MG logo. The SUV also gets Rotor alloy wheels and strong character lines. An automatic power tailgate is also available.

The EV and PHEV versions share the same overall design language. The PHEV gets subtle visual changes to distinguish it from the EV. The MG Hector Tomahawk EV is available with 18 inch alloy wheels and comes in colours including Pearl White, Starry Black, Aurora Silver and Celadon Blue.

MG Hector Tomahawk – Interior Design and Features

The cabin of the MG Hector Tomahawk gets a premium layout with a Desert Squadron interior theme. It combines Almond Brown and Carbon Black finishes with leatherette upholstery. The SUV gets front ventilated seats along with a six way power adjustable driver seat and a four way powered co driver seat.

The MG Hector Tomahawk gets a 15.6 inch HD display which is claimed to be the largest in its segment. It also gets an 8.8 inch driver display and a 10 speaker Infinity audio system. Other features include a panoramic sunroof, 360 degree camera and 256 colour ambient lighting.

The SUV is available in five and seven seat layouts for the EV while the PHEV is offered only with seven seats. The second row gets a 60:40 split along with slide and recline functions. The seven seater also gets a tip and tumble function for access to the third row. The five seater offers up to 610 litres of boot space.

MG Hector Tomahawk – Powertrain

The MG Hector Tomahawk EV uses a 69.2 kWh battery paired with a permanent magnet synchronous motor. The motor produces 201 hp and 310 Nm. MG claims a range of 517 km on a single charge. The battery supports DC fast charging at up to 90 kW.

The MG Hector Tomahawk PHEV combines a 1.5 litre petrol engine with a dedicated hybrid transmission and a 20.5 kWh battery. The system offers more than 115 km of pure electric range. The electric motor produces 199 hp and allows the SUV to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in around nine seconds.

The PHEV can operate in pure electric mode along with series hybrid mode and parallel hybrid mode and engine direct drive. MG claims a combined range of more than 1100 km with a full tank and full charge.

MG Hector Tomahawk – Safety Features

Safety equipment includes six airbags as standard along with ESP and traction control. The SUV also gets ABS with EBD and brake assist along with hill hold control and tyre pressure monitoring.

The MG Hector Tomahawk also gets a 360 degree camera with wheel view and front and rear parking sensors. Level 2 ADAS features include adaptive cruise control and lane keep assist along with lane departure warning and automatic emergency braking.

The EV gets a 69.2 kWh MAGIC battery with multiple safety measures. MG is also offering a lifetime battery warranty for the first owner of both the EV and PHEV.

MG Hector Tomahawk – Pricing and Variants

The MG Hector Tomahawk EV starts at ₹19.49 lakh for full vehicle ownership. Prices go up to ₹23.49 lakh depending on the variant. The EV is offered in Excite 7S and Exclusive 7S along with Essence 5S and Essence 7S variants.

The MG Hector Tomahawk PHEV starts at ₹25.69 lakh and goes up to ₹27.79 lakh. The introductory BaaS price starts at ₹21.79 lakh with a battery rental charge of ₹3.20 per km.

The EV BaaS price starts at ₹13.99 lakh with a battery rental charge of ₹4.90 per km for a limited number of bookings.

MG Hector Tomahawk – Market Positioning and Rivals

Bookings for the MG Hector Tomahawk are now open across MG dealerships in India and through the company website. EV deliveries will begin in September 2026 while PHEV test drives and deliveries will start in November 2026.

The MG Hector Tomahawk EV will compete with seven seat electric SUVs such as the Mahindra XEV 9s and Kia Carens Clavis EV. The PHEV does not have a direct rival in its segment due to its plug in hybrid powertrain. It will instead compete with premium mid size seven seat SUVs such as the Mahindra XUV7XO, Toyota Innova Hycross and the Tata Safari.

The biggest difference is the powertrain choice. The MG Hector Tomahawk PHEV can offer electric driving for daily use while retaining a petrol engine for longer journeys. This gives MG a new way to position the Hector Tomahawk in the growing premium SUV market.

Lifestyle Pickup Trucks in India: Is the Scorpio Lifestyler the Turning Point?

For decades, the pickup truck in India has been associated with one thing: work. It carried vegetables, construction material, tools and just about anything else that needed to be transported. The idea of buying a pickup truck simply because you liked the way it looked or because you wanted to take it off road on a weekend was almost unheard of.

But that is slowly changing. In the last decade, India has seen a steady rise in demand for lifestyle vehicles, and pickup trucks are now beginning to find their place in that conversation. Toyota launched the ninth generation Hilux in July 2026, while Mahindra has unveiled the Scorpio Lifestyler, which is expected to go on sale in April 2027. Both are products aimed at buyers who do not necessarily need a pickup, but want one.

So, is India finally ready for lifestyle pickup trucks?

To understand where the market is today, we need to go back to the early 1980s and 1990s. Tata Engineering and Locomotive Company, better known as Telco, entered the pickup space with the Tatamobile 206 . It was primarily a commercial vehicle, but it eventually spawned products such as the Sierra, Estate and the Telco Line.

The Telco Line was one of India’s first proper lifestyle oriented pickups. However, the timing was not quite right. India was still a largely closed economy and private car ownership was relatively low. The concept of spending a significant amount of money on a pickup truck purely for personal use simply did not make much sense to most buyers.

There was also an image problem. A pickup was a commercial vehicle. If you were spending money on a personal vehicle, an SUV or a sedan made far more sense from a social and practical standpoint.

That did not mean India had no pickup market. Far from it. Mahindra and Tata Motors have had tremendous success with products such as the Bolero Camper and Tata Yodha. Smaller commercial vehicles have also made the pickup format extremely popular.

The difference was that these vehicles were bought because they were useful. The lifestyle pickup had to convince buyers to buy it because they wanted it.

The next major attempt came in the 2000s. Mahindra introduced the Scorpio Getaway, essentially a pickup version of the Scorpio, while Tata Motors introduced the Xenon. Both were sold in India after initially being developed with export markets in mind.

On paper, both products made sense. They offered the ruggedness of a pickup with the road presence and lifestyle appeal of an SUV. The duo were even available with four wheel drive.

But the market still wasn’t ready. India had opened up to international manufacturers, but the passenger vehicle market was still relatively young. The country had only recently begun seeing a much wider variety of cars, and buyers were still developing their preferences.

The image of a pickup as a commercial vehicle remained firmly entrenched. Someone with money to spend on an aspirational vehicle was more likely to buy a Scorpio, Thar, Gypsy or another 4×4 SUV than a pickup.

The Scorpio Getaway and Xenon eventually disappeared from the Indian market, proving that simply offering a lifestyle pickup was not enough.

The real turning point came in 2017 with the Isuzu D Max V Cross. Unlike earlier attempts, the V Cross was marketed as a lifestyle product from the beginning. It wasn’t simply a commercial pickup with some extra equipment. It was positioned as a vehicle for people who wanted to travel, explore and spend their weekends outdoors. It appealed to bikers, campers, off road enthusiasts and people who simply wanted something different.

More importantly, the India of 2017 was very different from the India of the 1990s. Household incomes had increased, car ownership had grown and people had more disposable income. The idea of spending money on something that was not necessarily the most practical choice was becoming increasingly acceptable. The V Cross therefore found an audience where the earlier pickups had struggled.

Toyota brought the Hilux to India in 2022, adding one of the world’s most recognised pickup names to the segment. The Hilux had something the earlier lifestyle pickups did not have to the same extent: enormous global credibility. It was already known for its durability and off road ability, and Indian buyers quickly began turning their Hiluxes into personal projects. Lift kits, larger tyres, accessories, camping equipment and off road modifications became part of the ownership experience.

At around the same time, another vehicle was proving that Indians were becoming far more comfortable with lifestyle vehicles: the second generation Mahindra Thar. Launched in 2020, the Thar demonstrated that buyers were willing to sacrifice some amount of practicality for character. You could use it to commute to work during the week and head out on a trail during the weekend.

The Thar Roxx took this idea further in 2024 by adding two doors and more practicality without abandoning the lifestyle positioning. The combined Thar and Thar Roxx have consistently attracted thousands of buyers every month, showing that there is a sizeable audience for vehicles purchased as much for their personality as their practicality.

COVID also accelerated this change. After months of restrictions, people wanted to travel, explore and spend more time outdoors. The idea of making the most of life became more important, and lifestyle vehicles benefited from that change in attitude.

This is where the current generation of lifestyle pickups becomes interesting. The buyer entering the market today is not the same person who considered a Telco Line in the 1990s or a Scorpio Getaway in the 2000s.

The children of those early car buyers are now becoming buyers themselves. A generation that grew up with much greater access to cars, travel, the internet and social media is entering its peak earning years. For this buyer, a vehicle is not simply transportation.

It can be a hobby. It can be a way to travel. It can be modified and personalised. It can become part of their identity. That is exactly where a lifestyle pickup makes sense. A Toyota Hilux or the upcoming Mahindra Scorpio Lifestyler does not have to compete purely on practicality. The buyer can choose one because they want the space in the back, the four wheel drive capability, the road presence or simply because they want something different from another SUV.

Social media has also played a role. Modified pickups, camping builds, off road trips and overlanding have created an entire culture around these vehicles. What was once seen as an unusual choice can now become part of a person’s lifestyle.

So, are we ready? The answer is probably yes, but with a major caveat. India is not going to suddenly become a pickup truck market like North America. The sheer size, cost and practicality of American pickups make them difficult to replicate here. But India does not need millions of pickup buyers for the segment to succeed.

It only needs a sufficiently large group of people willing to pay a premium for something different. The history of the segment tells us that the product was never necessarily the problem. The timing was. The Telco Line arrived when the idea was unfamiliar. The Scorpio Getaway and Xenon arrived when the image of a commercial pickup was still too strong. The V Cross arrived when India was becoming more affluent and adventurous. The Hilux arrived when lifestyle vehicles were becoming mainstream.

Now, with the ninth generation Hilux and Mahindra’s upcoming Scorpio Lifestyler, the market is entering another phase. The biggest question is no longer whether Indians understand what a lifestyle pickup is. It is whether enough Indians want one. And for the first time, there is a strong argument that they do.

Mahindra XEV 9S 6 Seater Launched at Rs 25.25 Lakh: Here’s What’s New

Mahindra has launched the six seater version of the Mahindra XEV 9S in India, with prices starting at Rs 25.25 lakh, ex showroom. The six seater configuration is available with the Pack Two Above, Pack Three and Pack Three Above variants. It gets captain seats in the second row, offering improved comfort and easier access to the third row.

Mahindra XEV 9S – Exterior Design

There are no major exterior design changes to the Mahindra XEV 9S six seater compared to the seven seater version. It retains the same overall design, including the distinctive front end, connected lighting elements and muscular SUV stance. The six seater configuration is mainly differentiated by its cabin layout, with the exterior remaining unchanged.

Mahindra XEV 9S – Interior Design And Features

The cabin of the Mahindra XEV 9S continues with the same layout and equipment as the seven seater version. It gets a modern dashboard with triple 12.3-inch screens, leather upholstery and a spacious cabin focused on passenger comfort.

Features include rear AC vents and dual 65W USB charging ports for passengers in the rear rows. The cabin also gets multiple storage spaces and convenience features carried over from the seven seater variants.

The biggest change is the second row. The Mahindra XEV 9S six seater gets two individual captain seats instead of the bench seat offered in the seven seater. Each captain seat gets an individual armrest, which can be flipped up to create more space when accessing the third row. The gap between the two seats also makes getting in and out of the third row easier.

The additional floor space gives third row passengers more room to stretch their legs, improving overall comfort. The six seater configuration costs Rs 25,000 more than the equivalent seven seater version.

Mahindra XEV 9S – Battery And Powertrain

The Mahindra XEV 9S six seater is available with 70kWh and 79kWh battery packs, depending on the variant. All versions use a single rear mounted electric motor producing 380Nm of torque.

The 70kWh version is available with the Pack Two Above variant and produces 245hp. The 79kWh versions produce up to 286hp, depending on the variant.

The 70kWh battery offers a claimed range of up to 600km, while the 79kWh battery offers a claimed range of up to 679km. The 11.2kW AC charger is available separately and is not included in the prices listed below.

The Mahindra XEV 9S six seater is priced from Rs 25.25 lakh, ex showroom, for the Pack Two Above variant with the 70kWh battery. The Pack Two Above with the larger 79kWh battery is priced at Rs 26.15 lakh. The Pack Three with the 70kWh battery costs Rs 28.05 lakh, while the range topping Pack Three Above with the 79kWh battery is priced at Rs 30.15 lakh. These prices do not include the cost of the 11.2kW AC charger.

Mahindra XEV 9S – Market Positioning And Rivals

The six seater version gives buyers a more premium seating layout while retaining the existing electric powertrain options. The captain seats also make the Mahindra XEV 9S more practical for buyers who regularly use all three rows.

Its closest rival in terms of seating flexibility is the Kia Carens Clavis EV, which is also offered in both six and seven seat configurations. With the new seating option, the Mahindra XEV 9S expands its appeal in the electric SUV segment without significant changes to its exterior design or powertrain.

9th-Gen Toyota Hilux Review: Is the Indestructible Still Indestructible?

The Toyota Hilux is a name synonymous with one word, indestructible. But for an entire generation of enthusiasts, including myself, that reputation became legendary after a Top Gear episode in 2003. They left a Hilux on a beach to be battered by the sea, set it on fire and even placed it on top of a building before demolishing it. Yet somehow, the Hilux refused to die. For many of us in India who grew up watching Top Gear, that was our introduction to the Hilux, long before Toyota officially brought it here.

India finally received the Toyota Hilux in 2022 with the eighth generation model. Now, Toyota has introduced the ninth generation Hilux, still underpinned by the proven IMV platform and also giving us a glimpse at what could underpin the next generation Fortuner. After decades of building a reputation for toughness, the question with the new Hilux is not whether it is tough. It is whether Toyota has managed to make an indestructible truck better.

I’d keep this conversational and opinionated, rather than making the exterior section read like a spec sheet.

Toyota Hilux – Exterior Design

Toyota has completely redesigned the Hilux at the front and rear, and the new face follows what the brand calls its Cyber Sumo design philosophy. The Toyota logo is gone, replaced by bold TOYOTA lettering, which actually looks quite cool. You also get sharp, angular headlights with integrated DRLs, a body coloured honeycomb style grille and a bonnet that sits pretty high, giving the Hilux plenty of road presence. It is still a massive truck at around 5.3 metres long, while the 3,085 mm wheelbase remains unchanged.

Move to the side and things look a lot more familiar, with the doors appearing very similar to the outgoing Toyota Hilux. There is chunky plastic cladding around the wheel arches, while the wheel size has actually dropped to 17 inches. And honestly, that is a plus on something like the Hilux because you get thicker sidewalls that make much more sense when you head off road. The new design has received its fair share of heat online, but in person, I really would not go that far.

At the rear, you get new angular LED tail lamps, although the indicators still use halogen bulbs. The bumper itself is properly chunky and now gets a useful integrated side step to make accessing the load bed easier. You also get TOYOTA lettering across the tailgate, and the tailgate itself can take around 100 kg of load. Overall, it is still unmistakably a Hilux, just with a much sharper and more modern interpretation of Toyota’s pickup truck design.

The new Hilux is also available in six colours: Sulphur Metallic, Platinum Pearl White, Metallic Attitude Black, Ash, Emotional Red and Super White. Of these, Ash and Sulphur Metallic are new additions.

Toyota Hilux – Interior Design and Features

The interior is where some of the biggest changes have happened. The dashboard has been completely redesigned with a much chunkier, more utilitarian look, dominated by a new freestanding 12.3 inch touchscreen. The steering wheel is new too and looks similar to the unit seen on the Land Cruiser Prado, while the chunky leather wrapped gear lever fits the Hilux’s rugged character rather well.

Just ahead of it sit the drive mode selector and four wheel drive controls, with physical HVAC controls positioned above them. You also get a push button start, a proper physical handbrake and two gloveboxes, one of which is lockable. The driver also gets a 7 inch digital instrument cluster. You also get a 360 degree camera on offer.

But while the design has taken a big step forward, the India spec Hilux does miss out on quite a few features. The previous Hilux sold here offered automatic climate control, leather upholstery and electrically adjustable seats, while the new one gets manual AC, fabric upholstery and manual seat adjustment. Interestingly, several of these features are available on the new Hilux in international markets depending on the variant.

Even the new electric power steering offered globally has been replaced by a hydraulic power steering setup for India. Rear passengers also miss out on AC vents, although you still get three adjustable headrests, grab handles and a centre armrest with cupholders. So while the cabin itself has become considerably more modern, the India spec equipment list feels like a step backwards.

Toyota Hilux – Comfort

The Hilux’s high floor means getting into the cabin requires a proper step up. The side step and grab handle on the A-pillar make the process easier, although the high entry point may be inconvenient for elderly passengers or those with limited mobility.

Once inside, the driving position provides a clear view over the road. The high seating position, large glass area and visible bonnet make it easier to judge the vehicle’s position. Rearward visibility is also adequate, helped by large exterior mirrors and a sufficiently sized interior mirror.

The cabin offers enough width for occupants to sit comfortably without feeling cramped. The front seats are broad, firm and supportive, while taller drivers should have sufficient legroom. The driver’s seat gets six-way manual adjustment and the passenger seat gets four-way adjustment. Fabric upholstery replaces leather on the previous model. The steering wheel adjusts for both reach and height, while the pedals are well spaced. The driver also gets a useful dead pedal, and the large mirrors help when positioning the Hilux in tighter spaces.

Toyota Hilux – Driving and Dynamics

Under the bonnet, not much has changed. The Hilux continues with the familiar 2.8 litre turbo diesel engine, producing 204 hp and 500 Nm of torque, paired with a six speed automatic gearbox. Unlike the outgoing model, there is no manual transmission option this time around. Interestingly, Toyota is also offering the Hilux in a 4×2 configuration in India this time, alongside the more familiar 4×4.

The six speed automatic prioritises smoothness over quick shifts. It works well in normal driving, although there can be a short delay when a sudden throttle input demands a downshift. Three drive modes are available: Eco, Normal and Power. Eco softens throttle response for city driving, Normal offers a balance and Power provides sharper responses.

The S setting limits the highest gear rather than changing the shift behaviour. It is useful for descents and off road driving, while Power mode works better for quicker road driving.

The Hilux uses double wishbone suspension at the front and a rigid axle with leaf springs at the rear. The setup prioritises durability and load carrying. Toyota has retuned the suspension, while 17 inch wheels with 265/65 tyres provide some additional cushioning. However, the rear remains firm when the load bed is empty. Large potholes and rough surfaces are handled confidently, but repeated smaller bumps can cause the rear axle to hop. Rear passengers feel this more than those in the front.

The 4X4 Hilux gets four wheel drive, low range and a locking rear differential. These features, combined with strong low end torque, allow controlled progress over rocks, mud and uneven terrain. The Hilux feels more capable on rough terrain than on poor urban roads, where its firm suspension is more noticeable.

The Hilux feels stable and secure at highway speeds. However, its size and weight are noticeable through corners, with some body movement during faster direction changes. An empty load bed can also make the rear feel unsettled when driven hard. The Hilux therefore responds best to smooth and measured driving.

Toyota Hilux – Verdict

Priced between ₹31.99 lakh and ₹36.69 lakh, the new Hilux remains fairly well positioned for what it offers. The new design, proven 2.8 litre diesel and rugged character continue to make a strong case for it. However, the India spec car misses out on several features offered internationally, and even some that were available on the outgoing model. So while the Hilux is priced well, the feature list does leave a little to be desired.

Hyundai Bluelink Connected Cars Target 1 Million Sales in India by 2027

Hyundai Motor India Limited has announced a major milestone in its connected mobility journey, with more than 800,000 connected cars currently on Indian roads. The company is now targeting cumulative sales of 1 million Hyundai Bluelink connected cars by 2027, as adoption of connected vehicle technology continues to increase in India.

Hyundai introduced its Bluelink connected car technology in India in 2019 with the launch of the Hyundai Venue, which became India’s first OEM fitted connected SUV. Since then, connected vehicle penetration across Hyundai’s portfolio has grown five fold, increasing from 4 percent in 2019 to 20 percent in 2026.

The company has already crossed 800,000 cumulative connected car sales and is also targeting the milestone of 2 million connected car sales by 2030.

Hyundai Bluelink – Offers More Than 70 Features

A major part of the growth of Hyundai Bluelink has been the development of Hyundai Bluelink. The platform currently offers more than 70 connected features covering safety, security and convenience.

Customers can access functions including remote vehicle monitoring, vehicle health diagnostics, location tracking, trip history and remote commands. Bluelink also includes Hyundai Pay powered in car payments, Digital Key, Digital Passport, Remote Immobilizer and Home to Car Connectivity. The system supports more than 450 AI powered voice commands across five languages.

The technology behind Hyundai Bluelink has also evolved significantly since 2019. Hyundai introduced OTA map updates with the i20 in 2020, followed by its next generation AVNT connected technology in 2022. In 2025, the company launched its Connected Car Navigation Cockpit technology with Controller OTA update capability, marking another step in its Software Defined Vehicle roadmap for India.

Hyundai Bluelink – Safety Features

Safety has also been an important focus for Hyundai Bluelink According to the company, Bluelink has assisted more than 500,000 motorists through SOS and roadside assistance services. It has also supported around 15,000 crash notification interventions and helped law enforcement agencies with vehicle tracing and recovery.

Hyundai says demand for connected technology has been particularly strong across models such as the Creta, Venue and i20. The company’s upcoming mass market electric SUV will also offer next generation connected car technology as standard across all variants.

With over 800,000 Hyundai Bluelink connected cars already on Indian roads, the company is now moving towards its next major milestone. Hyundai aims to cross 1 million cumulative connected car sales by 2027 as it continues expanding connected technology and software based features across its Indian portfolio.

Hyundai Motor India Limited has shared details of its Hyundai after sales operations for FY2025-26 in its latest Annual Report, highlighting the scale of its service network, customer retention and growing adoption of digital service solutions.

During FY26, Hyundai recorded 8.23 million vehicle services across India. The company also reported a Net Promoter Score of 93.3% for its after sales operations, reflecting customer satisfaction and loyalty towards its authorised service network.

Hyundai After Sales – Customer Retention Stands at 79%

Hyundai recorded a customer retention rate of 79% during the period. This means nearly eight out of every 10 Hyundai customers continued to service their vehicles at authorised Hyundai workshops even after the complimentary service period had ended.

The figure is particularly significant for an automaker with a large vehicle parc in India, where authorised workshops compete with independent garages and multi-brand service centres once vehicles move beyond their initial service and warranty periods.

Hyundai After Sales – 1,671 Service Touchpoints Across India

Hyundai currently operates what it describes as India’s second-largest automotive service network, comprising 1,671 service touchpoints spread across 1,021 cities.

The network is supported by 162 Mobile Service Vans, which allow Hyundai to extend maintenance and service support to customers in locations where access to a conventional workshop may be limited.

Speaking about the company’s after sales operations, Dong Huwy Park, Whole-time Director and Chief Operating Officer, Hyundai Motor India Limited, said that the company’s service network and Mobile Service Vans have helped extend its reach into remote areas. He added that Hyundai continues to focus on improving consistency, efficiency and customer trust through infrastructure development and greater digital integration.

Hyundai After Sales – Nearly 50,000 Trained Professionals

Hyundai’s after sales operations are supported by nearly 50,000 trained professionals across India.

The company currently operates eight Regional Learning Centres, 15 Training Academies and six Bodyshop Academies for developing technical and service skills across its network.

Hyundai is also working with educational institutions to develop future automotive service talent. The company has partnered with 102 educational institutes, including 75 Industrial Training Institutes and 27 polytechnics.

Hyundai After Sales – Remote Care Enables Preventive Maintenance

Hyundai is increasing the use of connected vehicle and Software Defined Vehicle technology within its after sales operations.

Its Remote Care programme uses vehicle sensors to proactively identify select vehicle issues and communicate alerts in advance. This allows potential problems to be identified before a workshop visit and can enable preventive maintenance and timely service intervention.

The technology represents a gradual shift in vehicle servicing from responding to reported problems towards identifying certain issues through vehicle data before they develop further.

Hyundai After Sales – 1.95 Million Smart Pick Up and Drop Trips

Digital services have also become a significant part of Hyundai’s after sales operations.

Through the myHyundai app, the company facilitated 1.95 million smart vehicle pick up and drop trips during FY26. The service allows customers to have their cars collected for servicing and returned after the work is completed, reducing the need for customers to physically visit a workshop.

With 8.23 million vehicle services completed during FY26, a 79% customer retention rate and a network extending to more than 1,000 cities, Hyundai’s latest figures underline the scale of its after sales operations in India. Ferrari has officially launched the Ferrari Amalfi Spider in India at an introductory price of Rs. 4.6 crore (ex showroom). The luxury convertible was showcased during an exclusive media premiere in Bengaluru, as part of Ferrari’s series of exclusive launch events across key metro cities in India. The Amalfi Spider is the convertible derivative of the Amalfi coupe, which succeeds the Ferrari Roma in the brand’s global lineup. While the overall design and mechanical package remain identical to the coupe, the new model offers the added appeal of open air driving without compromising performance.

Ferrari Amalfi Spider – Engine and Performance

Powering the Ferrari Amalfi Spider is a 3.9 litre twin turbocharged V8 petrol engine that produces 640 bhp and 760 Nm of peak torque. The engine is paired with an eight speed dual clutch automatic transmission that sends power exclusively to the rear wheels.

Ferrari claims a 0 to 100 kmph sprint time of just 3.3 seconds, while the top speed stands at 320 kmph. Despite the electrically operated soft top adding approximately 86 kg over the coupe, the convertible matches the performance figures of its fixed roof sibling, highlighting the engineering behind the vehicle.

The proportions remain clean and understated while maintaining Ferrari’s signature design language.

Inside, the Ferrari Amalfi Spider retains the same cabin layout as the coupe with a 2 plus 2 seating configuration. The dashboard houses a 15.6 inch digital instrument cluster, a 10.25 inch central infotainment touchscreen and an 8.8 inch passenger display.

The Ferrari Amalfi Spider offers a boot capacity of 255 litres with the roof closed, which reduces to 172 litres when the roof is folded away.

2026 Honda ZR-V First Drive at BIC: Does This Hybrid SUV Live Up to the ‘Sport’ in SUV?

There was something magical about growing up as a car enthusiast in the 2000s and 2010s. New car launches did not instantly appear on your phone through reels, YouTube videos or endless social media posts. Instead, you waited for the latest issue of your favourite automotive magazine to arrive.

You would carefully flip through its pages, admire the glossy photographs, read every word of the road tests, and almost instinctively turn to the final pages where the price list for every city was printed. That was where dreams met reality. As a child, you would calculate just how expensive your dream car was and quietly tell yourself that one day, after years of studying and working hard, you would own one.

For me, one of those dream cars was the Honda CR-V. It was the SUV that often appeared in movies, usually driven by the successful businessman, the accomplished professional or the protagonist who had finally made it in life. Back then, Honda carried an aura that very few brands could match. The Civic, Accord and CR-V were not just cars. They were symbols of success and aspiration. They were the kind of vehicles you saw parked outside luxury hotels, driven by successful NRIs visiting India, well known actors or influential politicians.

Over the years, that image gradually faded as the market shifted towards feature loaded SUVs and newer competitors. Yet, for an entire generation of enthusiasts, those three letters, CR-V, still evoke a sense of nostalgia. Now, Honda is attempting to rekindle some of that magic with the ZR-V. While it may wear a different badge and belong to a different era, it carries the responsibility of reminding enthusiasts why Honda once occupied such a special place in the hearts of Indian buyers. We got behind the wheel of the new Honda ZR-V at the Buddh International Circuit to find out if it still has what it takes to wear that legacy.

Honda ZR-V – Exterior Design

Like most global Honda models, the Honda ZR-V follows an understated design philosophy. It is a car built for markets across the world, and that reflects in the way it looks. I would not call it distinctly European or American. In fact, it reminds me of something Sheldon Cooper once said in The Big Bang Theory about having a “Mid Atlantic accent”. The Honda ZR-V has a similar personality. It does not lean heavily towards any one design language, instead striking a balance that feels globally appealing.

At the front, the ZR-V features a vertically slatted gloss black grille flanked by sleek LED headlamps with integrated LED DRLs and sequential turn indicators. The bumper incorporates functional air curtains that help improve aerodynamic efficiency, adding a touch of engineering beneath the styling. One omission, however, is the absence of front fog lamps, something buyers in this segment may expect. Measuring 4,567 mm in length, 1,840 mm in width and 1,621 mm in height, along with a wheelbase of 2,655 mm, the Honda ZR-V has proportions that give it a planted and substantial road presence without looking oversized.

Viewed from the side, the design becomes more interesting. The gently sloping roofline gives the SUV a sportier profile without compromising its overall proportions. Around the back, the slim clear lens LED tail lamps stretch across the width and, from certain angles, the rear has a resemblance to the Mercedes Benz GLC.

Honda has also resisted the temptation of adding fake exhaust outlets. Instead, the silver finished exhaust surrounds are neatly integrated into the bumper, keeping the design clean and tasteful. The 18 inch alloy wheels may not be the most intricate in terms of design, but they fill the wheel arches well and complete the stance of the SUV. Also on offer are 4 exterior colours, crystal black pearl, platinum white pearl , meteoroid gray metallic and twilight black pearl.

Overall, the Honda ZR-V is exactly what you would expect from a modern Honda. It is clean, mature and understated, and it is a design that is likely to age gracefully even a decade from now. At the same time, it misses that one standout element that makes you stop and look back after parking it. It is, in many ways, a design that is hard to hate, but just as easy to forget.

Honda ZR-V – Interior and Features and Comfort

The Honda ZR-V’s cabin follows the same philosophy as its exterior. Finished in an all black theme, it is clean, understated and refreshingly functional, staying true to Honda’s approach of prioritising ergonomics over flashy gimmicks.

The dashboard is dominated by a 9 inch freestanding touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless Android Auto and Bluetooth connectivity. Thankfully, Honda has retained physical shortcut buttons and a volume knob, making the system much easier to operate on the move. Below it sit honeycomb finished AC vents that span the width of the dashboard, followed by physical dual zone climate control switches. You also get a PM2.5 cabin air filter, while the dashboard itself is wrapped in soft touch leatherette, giving the cabin a premium feel.

Ahead of the driver is a 10.2 inch digital instrument cluster, while the conventional gear lever makes way for electronic push button controls for the hybrid eCVT transmission. The centre console houses the drive mode selector, electronic parking brake with Auto Hold, wireless charger, cup holders, a 12V socket and two USB Type C ports. The only ergonomic gripe is that the USB ports are tucked below the charging tray, making them slightly awkward to access.

The driver gets an eight way electrically adjustable seat with two memory presets, while the front passenger gets a four way powered seat. Other features include auto folding ORVMs with a welcome function, a frameless auto dimming IRVM, aluminium finished pedals, regenerative braking paddles behind the steering wheel and a 12 speaker Bose sound system that delivers an impressive listening experience. Overall fit and finish is excellent, with solid build quality and materials that feel worthy of a CBU Honda.

Rear passengers get AC vents, a centre armrest, three adjustable headrests and 60:40 split folding seats. However, the hybrid battery results in a slightly raised floor, leaving taller occupants in a knees up seating position with limited under thigh support. At six feet tall, I found rear space adequate rather than generous, and long journeys may not be as comfortable as some rivals.

One notable omission is the lack of rear sunshades or even privacy glass, something that would have made a noticeable difference in Indian conditions. Then there is the absence of a sunroof. Personally, I do not consider this a drawback, but in today’s market, where buyers often expect one regardless of how often they use it, it could become a talking point against the ZR-V.

Practicality remains strong with over 1,300 litres of luggage space available with the rear seats folded, along with a powered tailgate featuring gesture control. Overall, the Honda ZR-V’s cabin impresses with its quality, thoughtful ergonomics and solid build, even if it misses a few headline grabbing features that buyers in this segment have come to expect.

Honda ZR-V – Driving and Dynamics

Before we get into how the Honda ZR-V drives, it is worth pointing out that this was not a conventional road test. Our drive was limited to the Buddh International Circuit, which means this review focuses on the SUV’s performance, handling and overall dynamics. Ride quality, real world fuel efficiency and the Honda SENSING ADAS suite are aspects we will reserve for a comprehensive road test.

Powering the ZR-V is Honda’s familiar 2.0 litre naturally aspirated petrol engine paired with a self charging hybrid system and a permanent magnet electric motor. Combined, the system produces 184 PS and 350 Nm of torque, with drive sent to the front wheels through Honda’s eCVT transmission with an engine linked clutch. There are three drive modes on offer, namely Econ, Normal and Sport, while the car automatically switches between EV Drive, Hybrid Drive and Engine Drive depending on the driving conditions.

The drive begins in the pit lane under a regulated speed limit of 40 kmph, and the first thing you notice is just how refined the ZR-V feels. At lower speeds, the SUV often operates in EV mode, making it eerily quiet. The transition between electric and petrol power is seamless, and unless you deliberately bury the throttle, you hardly notice the engine coming to life.

Push harder though, and the Honda ZR-V quickly changes character. Instant torque from the electric motor masks the initial hesitation, while the naturally aspirated petrol engine comes alive with a familiar Honda soundtrack. It is not an aggressive or overly sporty note, but there is something satisfying about hearing a naturally aspirated engine rev freely in an era dominated by downsized turbocharged units.

Straight line performance is impressive. Honda claims a 0 to 100 kmph time of 7.8 seconds, and during our informal stopwatch run on the main straight, I managed an 8 second sprint.

What surprised me even more was the ZR-V’s handling. Despite being an SUV riding on conventional road tyres, body roll was remarkably well controlled. The steering feels direct and predictable, allowing you to place the car confidently through corners, while the suspension keeps the body composed even when changing direction quickly. The ZR-V uses McPherson struts at the front and a multi link rear suspension, and the setup does a commendable job of balancing comfort with composure.

The slalom course further highlighted this. I comfortably completed it at around 75 kmph without clipping a single cone, and more importantly, without the excessive body movement you would normally associate with an SUV. Speaking to the instructors afterwards, none of the participants managed to unsettle the car or knock over any cones, which says as much about the ZR-V’s predictable chassis as it does about the controlled environment of the exercise.

That is not to say it completely defies physics. Through tighter corners, you can still feel the higher centre of gravity, and there is some body roll if you really begin to lean on the chassis. After all, this is still a family SUV, not a hot hatch pretending to be one.

Braking performance deserves a special mention. Equipped with disc brakes on all four wheels and regenerative braking, the Honda ZR-V shed speed confidently lap after lap, with a reassuring pedal feel and no noticeable fade during our session. Stability under hard braking was equally impressive.

We were also able to stretch the SUV to an indicated 160 kmph on the main straight, which was the maximum speed permitted during the event. Even at triple digit speeds, the ZR-V remained composed and confidence inspiring, suggesting it should make for a relaxed highway cruiser.

As for Honda SENSING, the ZR-V comes equipped with a comprehensive Level 2 ADAS suite featuring systems such as Lane Keep Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control and Collision Mitigation Braking. However, given the limited nature of the track session, we did not have the opportunity to evaluate these systems in real world conditions. Similarly, while Honda claims an ARAI certified fuel efficiency of 22.8 kmpl and E20 fuel compatibility, a racetrack is hardly the place to judge efficiency.

Honda ZR-V – Verdict

Overall, the Honda ZR-V impressed where it mattered most. It feels refined, quick and remarkably composed for an SUV. More importantly, it carries itself with the confidence you would expect from a global Honda product. No owner is likely to spend their weekends chasing lap times at a racing circuit. The ZR-V’s natural habitat will be long expressway drives, airport runs, weekend getaways and the daily commute. Based on our first experience, it seems more than capable of handling all of those duties while still offering enough dynamic ability to put a smile on the driver’s face when the road begins to twist.

Honda is yet to announce the ZR-V’s price for India. However, industry estimates suggest it could be positioned in the premium CBU SUV segment, where it will go up against the Volkswagen Tiguan R-Line, Volkswagen Tayron and Skoda Kodiaq.

That also means Honda has a tough task ahead. While the ZR-V impresses with its refined self charging hybrid powertrain, excellent build quality and well sorted driving dynamics, its European rivals offer larger cabins, an additional third row of seats in the case of the Kodiaq, and a more feature rich package. The hybrid powertrain remains the ZR-V’s biggest differentiator, but whether that alone is enough will ultimately depend on Honda’s pricing.

For now, the Honda ZR-V leaves a strong first impression. Whether it becomes a success story in India will depend less on how it drives and far more on what Honda writes on the price tag.
