The Velar facelift brings forward minor updates to freshen it up

  • New Pivi Pro infotainment
  • 2.0L petrol and diesel engines
  • Priced at Rs. 93 Lakhs

Land Rover has launched a facelift of the Range Rover Velar in India. Priced at Rs. 93 Lakhs(Ex-showroom), it gets subtle changes and feature additions to bring it up to date with it’s rivals. While bookings had opened last week, deliveries should commence September onwards.

Range Rover Velar Facelift: exterior and interiors

This is mid-life update for the Velar, however Land Rover has decided to keep the changes minimal with just a nip and tuck. Exterior wise, the Velar receives a redesigned front grille along with updated Pixel LED headlamps with cornering function. The rest of the changes to the design are towards the rear end where it gets a new bumper and reworked taillamps. 2 new colours- Metallic Varesine Blue and Premium Metallic Zadar Grey for the exteriors and Deep Garnet and Caraway for the interiors are also offered.

The new 11.4 inch Pivi Pro infotainment system

Moving on inside, it gets a new dashboard along with a new steering wheel and centre console. Land Rover has focused on eliminating clutter, the result of which is very few buttons inside. Instead, most of the functions are now accessed through the new 11.4 inch Pivi Pro infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple Carplay. Further, the new touchscreen features a curved glass with a floating effect. On the list of equipment is now also Active Noise Cancellation. The change in the centre console also means a new stowage space and a more conventional gearshift over the rotary dial on the current car.

Range Rover Velar Facelift: Powertrain, variants, price

Land Rover will be offering the Velar facelift with Petrol and Diesel powertrains both with a 8 speed torque converter AT. The 2.0L four cylinder petrol engine makes 250HP and 365NM torque. The 2.0L 4 cylinder Ingenium diesel meanwhile also gets a 48V mild hybrid system delivering a peak of 204HP and 420NM of torque. There is also electronic air suspension all around which can lower the car by 40mm when the doors are open to aid in ingress and egress. Range Rover claims the new Velar has a water wading capacity of 580mm.

For now, the Velar facelift is available in only the Dynamic HSE variant. Prices are the same at Rs. 93 Lakhs (Ex-showroom) for both Petrol and Diesel variants which is a hike of Rs. 3.59 Lakhs over the current car. The Range Rover Velar competes with other full size luxury SUVs such as BMW X5, Volvo XC90 and Mercedes Benz GLE among others.
