Maruti Suzuki has officially launched its newest SUV, the Maruti Suzuki Victoris, setting its sights on the country’s most hotly contested segment. With bookings already open for a token amount of ₹11,000. The Victoris locks horns with the segment king Hyundai Creta, and also competes with its own sibling the Grand Vitara. The new SUV will be sold solely through Maruti Suzuki Arena dealerships and will become the flagship Maruti vehicle that dealership network offers. Most recently MSIL started production of the e Vitara electric SUV at its Hansalpur plant.
Maruti Suzuki Victoris – Exterior Design
The Maruti Suzuki Victoris gets a sharp wraparound design language that gives at an almost wagon-like stance. Its front end is flanked by LED projector headlamps and daytime running lights, while the rear is marked by connected LED tail lamps that give it a slightly sporty profile.
The SUV is offered in 10 colour options, including two new shades, Mystic Green and Eternal Blue. A panoramic sunroof with a double-slide mechanism is offered, along with 17-inch alloy wheels that are standard on higher variants. The Maruti Suzuki Victoris measures 4360 mm in length, 1655 mm in height, 1795 mm in width, and sits on a 2600 mm wheelbase.
Maruti Suzuki Victoris – Interior Design and Features
The cabin of the Maruti Suzuki Victoris features a three-layer dashboard. The interior is finished in a black and ivory dual-tone theme with a soft-touch instrument panel. Textured seat upholstery and piano black accents are also included.
The SUV is equipped with a 10.25-inch fully digital instrument cluster that offers multiple display modes. It is paired with a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, which supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, features an integrated app store with more than 35 applications, Alexa Auto voice control, and over-the-air updates. Also on offer is a 360-degree surround view camera and heads-up display.
A segment-first 8-speaker Infinity system by Harman with Dolby Atmos 5.1 surround sound provides four speakers, two tweeters, a centre speaker, a subwoofer, and an in-built eight-channel amplifier. The SUV also introduces segment-first 64-colour ambient lighting, while Next-Gen Suzuki Connect adds over 60 connected car functions, including emergency call, trip transfer navigation, and vehicle status alerts. An in-built PM2.5 filter with AQI display and auto-purify mode enhances cabin air quality.
Some noteworthy features include a hands-free powered tailgate with gesture control and multiple activation modes, such as key fob, dashboard switch, or exterior tailgate switch, supported by anti-pinch safety technology. The driver’s seat is 8-way power adjustable, front seats are ventilated, and a wireless smartphone charger with active cooling and USB Type-C fast-charging ports is also part of the package.
Maruti Suzuki Victoris – Engine and Drivetrain
The Maruti Suzuki Victoris is offered with multiple powertrain choices to cater to different types of buyers. Customers can choose between a 1.5-litre K-Series petrol engine with Smart Hybrid technology which delivers 103 hp and 139 Nm of torque or the 1.5-litre Strong Hybrid with an e-CVT transmission and dedicated EV mode.
The Strong Hybrid option claims an efficiency of 28.65 km/l, while the CNG promises up to 27.02 km/kg. Maruti has fitted the Victoris with a segment first unberbody CNG tank claimed to not compromise on boot-space. The Victoris offers Maruti’s ALLGRIP Select 4×4 system paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission and paddle shifters. This system includes terrain modes such as Auto, Snow, Sport and Lock, along with hill descent control.
Maruti Suzuki Victoris – Safety Features
The Maruti Suzuki Victoris was voluntarily sent by Maruti to the Bharat NCAP and secured a 5-star safety rating for both adult and child occupants. Six airbags are standard across all trims, alongside ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, hill hold assist, and rear parking sensors. The higher variants include Level 2 ADAS and it becomes the first Maruti to offer this feature, offering adaptive cruise control with curve speed reduction, lane keep assist, automatic emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. All-wheel disc brakes, tyre pressure monitoring, and an electronic parking brake are also part of the safety suite.
Maruti Suzuki Victoris – Market Positioning and Rivals
With the Maruti Suzuki Victoris, the company is entering India’s mid-size SUV segment. The model is positioned above the Brezza and sits alongside the Grand Vitara, with powertrain choices that include petrol, hybrid, CNG, and 4×4. It will compete against the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Honda Elevate, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Skoda Kushaq and Volkswagen Taigun.
Maruti Suzuki has not yet announced pricing and delivery timelines. While booking amount remains set at ₹11,000 and the SUV can be booked online via the Maruti Suzuki Arena website or in person at Maruti Suzuki Arena dealerships. At the launch event, the company also confirmed that another SUV will debut by the end of the current financial year, most likely the e-Vitara electric SUV.
