Hyundai Exter Facelift launched at Rs 5.79 lakhs: Gets these new features !

Hyundai Motor India Limited has launched the facelifted Hyundai Exter at a starting price of ₹5.79 lakh ex showroom. First introduced in 2023, this marks the first update for Hyundai’s entry level micro SUV. With more than 25 enhancements across design, technology, comfort and safety, the new Exter aims to strengthen its position in the segment. Most recently, Hyundai also introduced the facelifted Hyundai Verna.

Hyundai Exter Facelift – Exterior Design

The facelift brings a refreshed look with a redesigned front fascia that includes a new bumper, and grille. The signature H shaped DRLs and projector headlamps are retained, while a new centre garnish gives the front fascia a fresh look.

The overall silhouette remains unchanged, but subtle updates enhance its stance. These include new wheel arch cladding, a revised tailgate, updated C pillar garnish and a redesigned rear bumper. The Exter also gets new 15 inch diamond cut alloy wheels and a wing type rear spoiler that adds a sporty touch.

Dimensionally, the SUV measures 3830 mm in length, 1723 mm in width and 1643 mm in height with a wheelbase of 2450 mm. It continues to stand out as the tallest SUV in its class while also offering the longest wheelbase.  Hyundai is offering seven monotone colours and one dual tone option, including new shades like Golden Bronze and Titanium Black Matte.

Hyundai Exter Facelift – Interior Design and Features

Inside, the cabin now gets a more premium feel with a dual tone navy and grey theme and a new 3D pattern dashboard finish. While the layout remains the same, additions like a sporty D cut steering wheel and metal pedals bring a fresher appeal.

The Exter continues to offer 391 litres of boot space along with practical touches like a folding driver armrest and semi fabric seat upholstery. On the technology front, it gets a segment first dashcam along with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. There are Type C charging ports for both front and rear passengers, along with Hyundai Bluelink connected car features. Other features such as an electric sunroof, digital instrument cluster and OTA updates continue to be offered.

Hyundai Exter Facelift – Powertrain and Safety  

The Exter continues with the 1.2 litre four cylinder Kappa petrol engine, available with both manual and AMT transmissions. The engine puts out 82 hp and 114 Nm of torque. There is also a CNG option with a dual cylinder setup and an underbody spare wheel, offering a boot space of 225 litres.

Safety remains a strong focus with six airbags offered as standard across all variants. The car also gets electronic stability control and hill start assist as standard, along with more than 45 safety features in total and over 30 standard features across the range.

Hyundai Exter Facelift – Variants and Pricing 

The Hyundai Exter is offered in multiple variants across petrol manual, petrol AMT and CNG options. The petrol manual range starts with the HX2 priced at ₹5,79,900, followed by HX3 at ₹6,23,900, HX4 at ₹7,21,900, HX6 at ₹7,94,900 and goes up to HX8 priced at ₹8,35,900. The petrol AMT lineup includes HX3 at ₹6,90,900, HX4 Plus at ₹8,05,900, HX6 at ₹8,54,900, HX8 at ₹9,07,900 and the top spec HX10 at ₹9,41,900. The CNG range starts with HX2 at ₹6,99,900, followed by HX3 at ₹7,43,900, HX4 at ₹8,26,900, HX6 at ₹8,93,900 and HX8 at ₹9,40,900.

Hyundai Exter Facelift – Market Positioning and Rivals 

The Hyundai Exter competes in the micro SUV space against rivals like the Tata Punch, Citroen C3, Nissan Magnite and Renault Kiger. With this update, Hyundai is clearly focusing on offering a more premium, feature rich and practical option in the entry SUV segment.
