Volkswagen India is gearing up to introduce the all-new Tiguan R-Line SUV on April 14, 2025. Pre-launch reservations have already commenced, and customers can secure their unit either online or by heading to the nearest Volkswagen showroom. The reservation fee is set at Rs 25,000, and deliveries are anticipated to roll out soon after the official unveiling. Ahead of the debut, Volkswagen has disclosed the SUV’s key features, safety technologies, and performance details.
The upcoming Tiguan R-Line boasts a wide array of modern amenities. Inside, it comes equipped with a 10.3-inch digital driver’s display, a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment unit supporting Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, connected car functionalities, and multi-zone climate control. Additional highlights include dual wireless charging pads, customizable ambient lighting, a panoramic glass roof, advanced IQ Light HD Matrix headlamps with 38,400 pixel LEDs, massaging and ventilated front seats, and a rotary dial with an integrated OLED screen.
On the safety front, the SUV offers nine airbags and a comprehensive Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) suite with 21 intelligent features. It also includes hill start and descent assist, along with Park Assist Plus, which enables automated parking. Under the hood, the Tiguan R-Line is powered by a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine delivering 190 PS and 320 Nm of torque. This engine is mated to a 7-speed DSG automatic transmission, distributing power to all four wheels.
Stylistically, the new Tiguan adopts Volkswagen’s latest design philosophy. It trades the sharp, boxy contours of the previous model for a sleeker and more aerodynamic silhouette, contributing to an improved drag coefficient of 0.28 Cd, down from 0.33 Cd. The front fascia features a slim LED light bar connecting the headlights, enlarged air inlets, and a bold black central panel. At the rear, a striking LED taillight setup with three distinctive light clusters is embedded within a black strip that spans the width of the tailgate. Additional styling elements include an R-Line-specific grille, sporty dual-tone alloy wheels, and twin exhaust outlets, reinforcing its performance-oriented appeal.
