Maruti Suzuki has significantly improved the safety features of its well-known Wagon R hatchback for the 2025 model year. The refreshed version now offers six airbags as standard across all trims, enhancing occupant protection. This includes dual front airbags, side airbags for front passengers, and curtain airbags — bringing the Wagon R in line with several other Maruti models like the Brezza, Grand Vitara, Eeco, and Celerio that have recently received similar upgrades.
Despite the major safety enhancement, the Wagon R maintains its signature tall-boy design. There are no visual changes to its exterior or cabin layout. Key features continue to include a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, electrically adjustable ORVMs, and 14-inch alloy wheels.
On the safety front, the updated Wagon R is equipped with features such as ABS with EBD, an electronic stability program (ESP), rear parking sensors, and central locking. Mechanically, there are no changes — the hatchback continues to be powered by a choice of two petrol engines: a 1.0-litre three-cylinder unit and a 1.2-litre four-cylinder motor. Both engines are available with either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT transmission. Additionally, the 1.0-litre variant can be had with a factory-installed CNG kit.
