Nissan Magnite Kuro Launched – Key Changes and Pricing Explained

Nissan has expanded its Magnite compact SUV lineup in India with the launch of the new Nissan Magnite Kuro edition. The pricing starts at ₹8.30 lakh (ex-showroom), with the edition being based on the N-Connecta variant that sits mid-way in the Magnite’s overall lineup.

The launch of this edition also comes at a time when the Magnite was just awarded a 5-star rating for adult occupant protection by Global NCAP under the new 2025 crash test protocols. Nissan also launched a CNG retro-fit kit for Magnite earlier this year.

The Nissan Magnite Kuro is offered with a complete black treatment across most visible exterior elements. The SUV is available exclusively in Onyx Black exterior paint. The alloy wheels are 16-inch diamond-cut units finished in gloss black. The front grille receives a piano black finish, while the front skid plate, door handles, roof rails, and side cladding adopt varying shades of dark black or gloss black. Nissan Magnite Kuro – Interior Design and Features

Inside the cabin, the Nissan Magnite Kuro continues its all-black approach. The seats, roof liner, grab handles, door pads, dashboard, and trim pieces follow a consistent dark theme. Piano black inserts are present on the steering wheel, air vents, gear shift surround, and door trims. The premium dark-themed front dashboard is carried over from the N-Connecta trim, with no major layout revisions.

The touchscreen is an 8-inch floating infotainment unit, which supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay over Wi-Fi. A 7-inch TFT digital display is used for instrumentation, and steering-mounted controls are standard. The Premium i-Key allows for passive entry, with approach unlock and walk-away lock functions.

Standard features include a rear AC vent, automatic climate control and an illuminated glove box. The Audio is handled by a six-speaker setup tuned by Arkamys. New features on the Kuro include a wireless charger finished in sable black and a dashcam (fitted as an accessory). Overall, the cabin maintains a feature list that is identical to the N-Connecta but distinguished through the Kuro-specific colour palette.

Nissan Magnite Kuro – Engine and Powertrain

The Nissan Magnite Kuro is available in four engine-gearbox configurations, with no change in specifications from the standard trims. All versions are powered by a 999 cc three-cylinder petrol engine.

The naturally aspirated variant produces 72 PS at 6250 rpm and 96 Nm of torque between 3400–3600 rpm. It is paired either with a 5-speed manual transmission or an AMT (marketed as EZ-Shift). The more powerful turbocharged variant delivers 100 PS at 5000 rpm. In its manual transmission form, it generates 160 Nm of torque between 2800–3600 rpm, while the CVT version offers 152 Nm between 2200–4400 rpm.

Claimed fuel economy figures, range from 17.9 km/l for the turbo CVT to 19.9 km/l for the turbo manual, with the NA petrol variants claiming figures of 19.4 and 19.7 km/l depending on the transmission.

There are no mechanical changes introduced in the Kuro edition. Suspension duties are handled by MacPherson struts at the front with lower transverse links, and twin-tube telescopic shock absorbers at the rear. Braking consists of front discs and rear drums. The steering is electric, and the SUV maintains a turning radius of 5.0 metres. Boot space stands at 336 litres, expandable to 690 litres with rear seats folded. Ground clearance remains at 205 mm.

Nissan Magnite Kuro – Safety Features

The Nissan Magnite Kuro shares its safety credentials with the standard model. The Magnite recently secured a 5-star safety rating for adult occupant protection and 3 stars for child safety from Global NCAP under their 2025 updated protocols.

Standard safety equipment includes six airbags, ABS with EBD, traction control system (TCS), and hill start assist (HSA). ISOFIX mounts are provided for child seats. The rear parking camera is available depending on variant, with static guidelines provided on the infotainment screen.
