Hyundai Creta King Series Launched in India at Rs 17.85 Lakh: Check What’s New

Hyundai Motor India has expanded its popular mid-size SUV lineup with the launch of the Creta King Series, introduced to mark 10 years of the Creta in India. With prices starting at ₹17.85 lakh (ex-showroom), the new flagship variants – Creta King, Creta King Limited Edition, and Creta King Knight. These new variants bring design upgrades, new features, and expanded engine choices to Hyundai’s best-selling model.

Creta King Series – Exterior Design

The Creta King Series continues Hyundai Creta’s established design language but adds exclusive styling cues to set it apart from standard trims. The King trim features 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, a unique “King” emblem, and the introduction of a new Black Matte paint option. The Limited Edition and Knight versions carry forward the theme, with the Knight available exclusively in matte black alloys and an all-black styling package. The new design changes give it a stealthy appearance and put it in contention with the swarm of black edition themed SUVs in the segment.Creta King Series

Creta King Series – Interior Design

Inside, the Creta King Series is kitted out with a host of new features. The King variant introduces premium comfort features such as an 8-way electrically adjustable passenger seat, power seat memory for the driver, and an electric walk-in device for added convenience. Practical touches like seatback tables with retractable cup holders and a sliding front console armrest with storage enhance usability. Hyundai has also included a factory-fitted dashcam, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and dual-zone automatic climate control with a touch interface.

The King Limited Edition variant adds exclusive King-branded elements on the headrest cushions, key cover, carpet mats, and seat belt covers. These additions provide a sense of exclusivity for customers and also celebrate the Hyundai Creta’s 10-year sales milestone.

Creta King Series – Engine and Powertrain

The Creta King Series offers multiple engine choices to suit diverse buyer preferences. Customers can opt for the 1.5-litre MPi petrol with a 6-speed manual or IVT automatic, the 1.5-litre U2 CRDi diesel with manual or 6-speed automatic, and the more performance-oriented 1.5-litre turbo GDi petrol paired with a 7-speed DCT.

Creta King Series – Safety Features

The Creta King Series also introduces some key safety features. In addition to six airbags, ABS, and ESC, the new trims feature a standard dashcam, a very important and practical addition in the segment. The King Series also gets ADAS since it is based on the top SX(O) trim lines. The ADAS features include, lane-keep assist, forward collision warning, blind-spot assist, adaptive cruise control etc.

Creta King Series – Pricing and Variants

In terms of pricing, the Creta King Series starts with the King variant at ₹17.88 lakh (1.5-litre petrol manual), with the diesel automatic going up to ₹20.42 lakh. The Creta King Knight is positioned slightly higher, ranging from ₹19.49 lakh for the petrol IVT to ₹20.77 lakh for the diesel automatic. The most expensive option in the lineup is the Creta King Limited Edition, priced between ₹19.64 lakh for the petrol IVT and ₹20.91 lakh for the diesel automatic.

Creta King Series – Market Positioning and Rivals

The Creta King Series positions itself at the premium end of the mid-size SUV segment. With prices touching ₹20 lakh, it competes against a long list of “black” and “dark” edition themed SUVs namely the Kia Seltos X-Line, Honda Elevate Black Editon, Skoda Kushaq Sportline, Tata Harrier Dark Edition and Tata Curvv Dark Edition. Hyundai’s move also comes at a time when the mid-size SUV segment is fiercely competitive, with automakers introducing new features to lure customers.

Creta King Series – Features Across Variants

Further bolstering the legendary Creta lineup, Hyundai has introduced a set of new features across select trims. These include dual-zone automatic temperature control (DATC) with a touch panel, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a dashcam, and larger R18 alloy wheels. The Creta N Line has also been updated with the same additions such as DATC, wireless smartphone integration, and dashcam across its variants.
