Audi SQ8 Launched at Rs 1.78 Crore: Gets a V8 with 500 Hp !

Audi India has launched the all new Audi SQ8 in India at a price of ₹1.78 crore ex showroom. The model is introduced as a completely built unit (CBU). The SQ8 takes position between the Audi Q8 and the more performance focused Audi RS Q8 in the brand’s line up.

The SQ8 is powered by a 4 litre twin turbo V8 petrol engine and marks Audi India’s first new car launch for 2026. Earlier this year, the company also expanded its retail presence with a new showroom in Hyderabad, designed in line with its latest global showroom identity.

Audi SQ8 – Exterior Design 

In terms of exterior design, the SQ8 carries forward the familiar coupe SUV silhouette seen on the Q8 range. The overall proportions and stance remain largely similar to both the Q8 and RS Q8. However, the SQ8 features distinct S specific styling elements. At the front, it gets HD Matrix LED headlamps with Audi laser light and four selectable night signatures. The front bumper is redesigned with S specific detailing, silver accents, and larger air intakes.

The SUV rides on optional 22 inch alloy wheels offered in three designs. Buyers can also opt for ceramic brakes with anthracite brake calipers. Red brake calipers with the S logo are also available. Additional exterior highlights include frameless doors, illuminated door sill trims with S badging, and the signature single frame grille finished with Audi’s two dimensional logo.

At the rear, the Audi SQ8 features a connected tail lamp design along with the updated two dimensional Audi logo. A panoramic sunroof is offered as standard. Audi also provides customization through optional packages such as the carbon styling package, black styling package, and black styling package plus. Standard exterior color options include Mythos Black, Daytona Grey, Glacier White, Ascari Blue, Chili Red, Sakhir Gold, Satellite Silver, and Waitomo Blue. Audi exclusive paint options are also available for further personalization.

Audi SQ8 – Interior Design and Features 

Inside the cabin, the SQ8 is equipped with a high level of technology and comfort features. The dashboard layout includes the Audi Virtual Cockpit Plus along with MMI navigation and MMI touch response system. The SUV also features a touchscreen infotainment system with connected car technology, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. A separate display is dedicated for climate control functions.

The audio system is a premium Bang and Olufsen 3D sound setup with 17 speakers and a 16 channel amplifier. The seats can be specced in Valcona leather with sports design. Front seats come with heating, ventilation, and massage functions, while rear seats offer heating. The steering wheel is a three spoke flat bottom unit with paddle shifters.

Other interior features include contour ambient lighting with 30 color options, matte brushed aluminum inlays, four zone climate control, a 360 degree camera system, soft close doors, wireless charging, and adaptive windshield wipers with integrated washers.

Audi SQ8 – Powertrain and Safety 

Powering the SQ8 is a 4 litre twin turbocharged V8 engine that produces 500 horsepower and 770 Nm of torque. The SUV can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in 4.1 seconds and has a top speed of 250 kmph. It comes equipped with a permanent quattro all wheel drive system with a self locking centre differential.

The SUV is also equipped with adaptive air suspension and all wheel steering. The Audi SQ8 also features an S specific sport exhaust system. Buyers can further enhance performance with an optional advanced suspension package that includes active roll stabilization and a sport differential.

In terms of safety, the SQ8 is equipped with eight airbags and a range of driver assistance features. These include cruise control with speed limiter and Audi pre sense basic. Optional features include night vision assist, a head up display, and lane departure warning.

Audi SQ8 – Market Positioning and Rivals 

With a price of ₹1.78 crore, the Audi SQ8 is positioned between the Q8 priced at ₹1.16 crore and the RS Q8 performance priced at ₹2.49 crore. In the Indian market, it competes with models such as the Porsche Cayenne GTS, which also uses a similar V8 powertrain.
