The facelifted Volkswagen Taigun has been revealed for the Indian market, marking its first major update since its launch in 2021. Built on the MQB A0 IN platform under Volkswagen’s India 2.0 strategy, the updated model brings changes to design, features, and mechanicals. Production has already begun, and the SUV is expected to reach showrooms soon. Pricing details are yet to be announced. Here are the top five things you need to know about the updated Taigun.
Volkswagen Taigun – Updated Exterior Design And New Colour Options
One of the most noticeable updates on the Taigun facelift is its refreshed exterior design. The front styling now aligns with newer global Volkswagen SUVs such as the Volkswagen Tiguan and the Volkswagen Tayron. It features redesigned LED headlamps connected by a slim LED light bar, giving it a wider and more modern stance. An illuminated Volkswagen logo is now offered at both the front and the rear, which is a first in the segment.

The facelift also introduces new alloy wheel designs along with an expanded colour palette. Buyers can now choose from nine colour options, including two new shades, Avocado Pearl and Steel Grey, in addition to existing options like Wild Cherry Red, Candy White, Deep Black Pearl, Lava Blue, Silver Carbon Steel, and Carbon Steel Matte.

Volkswagen Taigun -Updated Infotainment And Feature Additions
On the inside, the overall layout remains familiar, but there are several feature upgrades aimed at improving usability and comfort. The 10.1 inch touchscreen infotainment system continues, now with an updated user interface that is more intuitive to use. The digital instrument cluster offers four configurable display modes, allowing drivers to personalize the information layout. The SUV also gets a voice assistant that can be activated with simple commands, enabling control over functions such as air conditioning and infotainment.

Additional features include ventilated front seats with electric adjustment, a heated rear windscreen, and a rear wiper with intermittent function. A smart touch Climatronic air conditioning system is now available from lower variants, improving accessibility of premium features across the range.
Volkswagen Taigun – Panoramic Sunroof Upgrade
A key highlight of the facelift is the addition of a panoramic sunroof, replacing the earlier single pane unit. This upgrade enhances the sense of space inside the cabin and brings the Taigun in line with current segment expectations. The larger glass area allows more natural light into the cabin, improving the overall in car experience for both front and rear passengers. This feature is expected to be one of the major talking points for buyers considering the updated model.

Volkswagen Taigun – Engine Options And Mechanical Updates
The mechanical updates on the Volkswagen Taigun facelift focus on refining the driving experience while retaining its proven engine options. The 1.0 litre TSI engine continues to produce 115 hp and 178 Nm of torque, but now comes paired with a 6 speed manual or a new 8 speed automatic transmission. This replaces the earlier 6 speed automatic and is expected to offer smoother performance.

The more powerful 1.5 litre TSI engine remains unchanged in output, producing 150 hp and 250 Nm of torque, and continues to be paired with a 7 speed DSG gearbox. This engine now benefits from rear disc brakes, replacing the earlier drum setup, along with red brake calipers for a sportier appearance. The 1.0 litre variants continue with front disc and rear drum brakes.
Volkswagen Taigun – Variant Lineup
The facelifted Volkswagen Taigun will be offered in a wide range of variants, ensuring options for different buyer preferences. The lineup includes Comfortline, Highline, Highline Plus, GT Line, Topline, GT Plus Chrome, and GT Plus Sport. This extensive variant spread allows Volkswagen to cater to both value focused buyers as well as those looking for a more feature loaded or performance oriented version of the SUV.
