2025 BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe Launches with New Design, 1.5L Turbo Engine, M Sport Kit & More

BMW India has launched the all-new 2 Series Gran Coupe in India, marking the debut of the second-generation model with heavily updated styling, newer tech, and better features. Locally assembled at BMW’s Chennai plant, the new BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe is now available in two variants – 218i M Sport and 218i M Sport Pro – priced at ₹46.90 lakh and ₹48.90 lakh (ex-showroom) respectively.

The model continues to cater mainly to the entry-level luxury segment, competing with the likes of the Mercedes-Benz A-Class Limousine.

BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe – Design

The 2025 BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe brings a sharper and more expressive design, led by the new shark-nose front fascia. The updated styling is complemented by the signature Iconic Glow Kidney Grille, which illuminates after dark and pairs with the adaptive LED headlamps that feature glare-free matrix high beam and cornering functionality.

Dimensions have seen slight increases over the outgoing model. It now measures 4,546 mm in length (up by 20 mm), 1,800 mm in width, and 1,445 mm in height (up by 25 mm). The wheelbase remains unchanged at 2,670 mm.

At the rear, the coupe-like stance is retained with a wide track, slender LED tail lamps with vertical elements, and flush-fitted dual exhausts tucked into the gloss-black rear apron. The frameless doors and flowing roofline add to the car’s gran coupe proportions. The M Sport design package is standard and brings more aggressive bumpers, gloss-black detailing, and 18-inch M alloy wheels.

BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe – Interior Design and Features

Inside, the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe features a redesigned, driver-focused cabin with new digital integration. The curved BMW Widescreen Display houses a 10.25-inch instrument cluster and a 10.7-inch infotainment screen, both running on BMW Operating System 9. The system supports voice and touch inputs and integrates wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

A new Veganza leather-free upholstery is offered in two options – Mocha and Oyster. The cabin features illuminated M Aluminium Hexacube trim, ambient lighting, a panoramic sunroof, Harman Kardon audio (205W, 12 speakers), and new sport seats with power adjustment, memory, and under-thigh support.

BMW has also included its “Digital Key Plus” which lets owners use compatible smartphones or smartwatches as keys.

BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe – Powertrain

Under the hood, the 2025 BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe comes only with a 1.5-litre, 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine producing 156 hp and 230 Nm of torque. Power is sent to the front wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Its predecessor was equipped with a 4-pot motor and had a higher power output of 176 hp and 280 Nm of torque.BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe

The baby Beamer can sprint from 0-100 km/h in 8.6 seconds and has a top speed of 230 km/h. BMW’s Sport Boost feature, activated via the left paddle shifter, readies the car for maximum acceleration by sharpening throttle and drivetrain response. Notably the 2 Series does not come with a diesel engine, a powertrain option very critical in the luxury vehicle segment.

The updated suspension system includes revised dampers, improved chassis stiffness, and dynamic traction control.

BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe – Safety and Technology

On the safety front, the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe offers a strong list of driver assistance and safety features. These include BMW Driving Assistant with Blind Spot Detection, Lane Departure Warning, and Forward Collision Mitigation, Parking Assistant Plus with a 360-degree camera, Reversing Assistant that retraces the last 50 metres automatically, Dynamic Stability Control and Cornering Brake Control, Six airbags, ISOFIX mounts, and integrated spare wheel under the floor

Additional convenience features include the Comfort Access system with a welcome light show, Head-Up Display with Augmented Reality, and the MyBMW app for remote monitoring.

BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe – Colours and After-Sales

Available in Brooklyn Grey, Portimao Blue, Black Sapphire, and Alpine White, the new BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe offers customisation with two interior themes. BMW India also provides optional service packages (Service Inclusive and Service Inclusive Plus) with durations up to 10 years or 200,000 km. Warranty coverage can be extended to the same duration.

Finance solutions through BMW Financial Services start at an EMI of ₹35,000/month with assured buyback options appealing to a wide spectrum of potential buyers.

BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe – Market Positioning and Rivals

The BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe continues to fill a niche in the Indian market in the compact luxury sedan segment. Positioned as BMW’s entry-level model, it competes primarily with the Mercedes-Benz A-Class Limousine and, to an extent, the Audi A4, although the Audi is positioned slightly higher. Customers can book the new 2 Series online through the official BMW India website or visit an official BMW dealership.

With its updated styling, tech enhancements, and focus on digital convenience, the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe targets a lot of 1st time luxury car buyers and those who want a luxurious city runabout with badge value.
