BMW M2 CS launched at Rs 1.66 Crores: Fastest Compact Car around Nurburgring

BMW M2 CS has been launched in India at an ex showroom price of ₹1.66 crore. It is brought in as a completely built unit and will be available in limited numbers. Based on the standard BMW M2, the CS version is engineered for higher performance with a weight reduction of 30 kilograms and an increase of 50 horsepower. This makes it the most powerful M2 ever introduced in the country. . Notably, the M2 CS holds the distinction of being the fastest compact car around the Nurburgring Nordschleife, completing the 20.8 kilometre circuit in under 7 minutes and 30 seconds.

BMW M2 CS – Exterior Design 

The exterior design focuses heavily on weight reduction and aerodynamic efficiency. Several components are constructed using carbon fibre reinforced plastic. The roof, boot lid, mirror caps, and rear diffuser are all finished in exposed carbon fibre. The front fascia features a redesigned kidney grille with extended air inlets and a distinct geometric pattern. A CS specific integrated spoiler at the rear is aerodynamically optimized to enhance stability and improve weight distribution. The rear also carries a subtle M2 CS badge with a red outline.

Lighting is handled by adaptive LED headlamps with high beam assist and darkened inserts, which are offered as standard. The model rides on exclusive forged M light alloy wheels measuring 19 inches at the front and 20 inches at the rear. These are fitted with track tyres as standard. Buyers can opt for ultra track tyres or standard sport tyres in the same dimensions at no additional cost. Braking duties are managed by M compound brakes with red calipers. An optional carbon ceramic brake setup is also available. The quad exhaust system at the rear features matte black tips and enhances the overall sporty character. Despite these enhancements, the overall silhouette remains close to the standard M2.

BMW M2 CS – Interior Design and Features

The interior features a combination of Alcantara and leather upholstery. Lightweight M carbon bucket seats are offered as standard and come with CS specific detailing. The steering wheel is wrapped in Alcantara and includes carbon elements along with contrast stitching.

Additional highlights include illuminated CS badging on the door panels and M seatbelts. The cabin also features ambient lighting which can be customized. A Harman Kardon sound system is offered as standard. The infotainment setup includes a digital driver display and a central touchscreen running BMW Operating System 8.5. The system also supports smartphone integration, head up display, and connected car features. Overall, the layout and feature set remain similar to the standard model with added CS specific elements.

BMW M2 CS – Powertrain and Chassis 

Powering the BMW M2 CS is an upgraded version of the B58 3.0 litre inline six cylinder petrol engine. This unit produces 530 horsepower and 650 Nm of torque. It is derived from the same engine architecture used in the M4 GT3 Evo race car. The engine features several motorsport inspired elements including a rigid crankcase, forged internals, and a 3D printed cylinder head core.

The engine is paired with an eight speed M Steptronic transmission which delivers quick and precise gear shifts. Drivers can choose between multiple driving modes including comfort focused, sport focused, and track optimized settings. The car accelerates from 0 to 100 kmph in 3.8 seconds. The top speed is electronically limited to 302 kmph with the M Driver’s Package, which is offered as standard.

The chassis has been specifically tuned for the CS variant. It sits lower than the standard model and features revised suspension components. The adaptive M suspension, steering system, and braking setup are calibrated to handle increased performance demands. Additional systems such as M Traction Control and M Drive Professional claim to provide greater control during high performance driving. Features like drift analyzer and lap timer are also seen on the CS.

BMW M2 CS – Safety Features

In terms of safety, the BMW M2 CS comes equipped with multiple airbags including head and side airbags for front occupants and rear passengers. Standard systems include dynamic stability control, anti lock braking system, cornering brake control, and active M differential. Driver assistance features such as parking sensors, attentiveness assistant, and optional adaptive cruise control are also available.

The BMW M2 CS is positioned as a niche and exclusive performance offering in India, priced at ₹1.66 crore ex showroom and available in limited numbers as a completely built unit. It does not have any direct rivals in the market, as no other model combines a compact rear wheel drive layout with such a strong focus on lightweight construction and track capability. Compared to the standard BMW M2, which is priced at around ₹1 crore, the M2 CS commands a premium of ₹66 lakh, justified by its higher power output, reduced weight, and extensive motorsport inspired enhancements.
