Land Rover has officially announced the launch of the Defender 110 Trophy Edition, a new special-edition vehicle developed to support a global adventure competition titled the Defender Trophy. The initiative, inspired by legacy Trophy and Challenge events of the past, aims to rekindle the brand’s association with endurance, off-road capability, and conservation.
The new Defender 110 Trophy Edition is central to this initiative and will be available in two exclusive heritage-inspired colours—Deep Sandglow Yellow and Keswick Green. Both finishes pay homage to past Land Rover expeditions while introducing new-generation Defender customers to the brand’s history.
Defender 110 Trophy Edition – Design
The Defender 110 Trophy Edition features 20-inch Gloss Black alloy wheels with All-Terrain tyres, a black front under body protection, and dark rear scuff plates. The vehicle also includes a Gloss Black contrast bonnet, brake calipers, and rear recovery eyes.
Visually, the Defender 110 Trophy Edition is set apart by exclusive bonnet decals, C-pillar graphics, and rear badging. Interior details include illuminated treadplates, Ebony Windsor leather seats, and a body-colour cross car beam with laser-etched Trophy branding on the endcaps. These elements give the model a unique blend of luxury and durability.
Optional accessories designed to improve off-road readiness include a deployable roof ladder, expedition roof rack, side-mounted gear carrier, front and rear mud flaps, and a raised air intake for dusty environments.
Defender Trophy: A Multi-Nation Adventure Competition
The Defender 110 Trophy Edition is not just a standalone vehicle release—it’s a statement of purpose. Entrants from over 50 countries will compete in the Defender Trophy, a three-stage competition culminating in a global final in Africa, in partnership with Tusk, a long-time Defender conservation collaborator.
Participants will be tested across Driving Challenges, Ingenuity Challenges, and Physical Challenges. These events aim to combine off-road driving skills with tactical problem-solving and physical endurance, reflecting the real-world capabilities of the Defender 110 Trophy Edition. Early next year, regional finals will identify the national winners who will head to Africa for the global final in Autumn 2026.
Teams will be scored individually but compete in pairs. In a unique twist, the lowest-ranked contestant in each stage will choose their partner for the next. The entire competition will be shared online, highlighting each competitor’s progress to a global audience.
Defender 110 Trophy Edition – Tusk Conservation Mission
The ulterior motive of the Defender Trophy is a deeper conservation narrative. Winners of the Defender Trophy will undertake a real-world conservation mission with Tusk, an African wildlife protection NGO. This mission aims to leave a lasting legacy not just in the lives of the participants, but also in the regions affected by the competition.
This dual-focus—adventure and purpose—sets the Defender 110 Trophy Edition apart from typical special editions. It is a vehicle built not just for performance or show, but for conservation and responsibility.
Defender 110 Trophy Edition – Technical Specifications
The Defender 110 Trophy Edition is offered with a choice of four powertrains: a diesel mild hybrid, a petrol mild hybrid, and two petrol plug-in hybrid variants. The engine choices represent the different use cases the average defender customer has. The diesel is a six cylinder engine and is rated at 350 hp and 700 Nm of torque. While the petrol mild hybrid is a six cylinder as well the power is rated at 400 hp and 550 Nm of torque. The plug-in hybrids come in 2 states of tune 300 hp and 404hp both powered by 2 litre engines.
Defender 110 Trophy Edition – India Launch and Verdict
While the Defender 110 Trophy Edition has not been officially confirmed for the Indian market, the recent launch of the Defender OCTA in India suggests growing demand for special editions. Given the strong sales performance of the Defender range in the country, it is reasonable to speculate that this edition could also be considered for an India launch in the near future. The Defender 110 Trophy Edition underlines a commitment to conservation, global collaboration, and modern adventure. Whether the edition will make it to our car markets remain to be seen.
