Hyundai Venue Aces Safety Game With 5 Star Bharat NCAP Score

The Hyundai Venue has secured a 5 star safety rating in the Bharat NCAP crash tests, marking a major milestone for Hyundai in India. This makes the Venue the second Hyundai model to achieve a top rating under Bharat NCAP.

Hyundai already had strong safety credentials with the Hyundai Verna, which scored a 5 star rating at Global NCAP. With the Venue now joining the list, Hyundai is clearly pushing hard on safety across segments. The ratings apply to all variants of the Venue, including the sporty N Line version, even though Bharat NCAP tested the HX2 diesel manual and HX10 diesel automatic variants.

Hyundai Venue – Adult Occupant Protection Scores

The Venue delivered an impressive 31.15 out of 32 points in adult occupant protection, making it one of the highest scoring cars in its segment. In the frontal offset deformable barrier test, it scored 15.15 out of 16. The SUV offered good protection to the driver’s head, neck, pelvis, thighs and feet, while chest and tibia protection was rated adequate.

For the co driver, most body regions showed good protection, with tibia protection rated as adequate. In the side movable barrier test, the Venue scored a perfect 16 out of 16, offering good protection to all body parts.

Hyundai Venue – Child Occupant Protection Scores

The Venue also performed strongly in child safety, scoring 44.46 points. The dynamic score stood at 23.46 out of 24, while the child restraint system installation scored a full 12 out of 12. The vehicle assessment score was 9 out of 13.

For the 18 month old child dummy, the Venue scored 7.46 out of 8 in frontal impact and a full 4 out of 4 in side impact tests. The 3 year old child dummy received full points in both frontal and side crash tests, showing strong child protection credentials.

The Venue comes well equipped with safety features across variants. Standard features include six airbags, TPMS, seatbelt reminders for all passengers, rear parking sensors and ISOFIX mounts.

Higher variants offer Level 2 ADAS features such as adaptive cruise control and lane keep assist. Other features include a 360 degree camera, electronic parking brake with auto hold and more.

The Venue now sits ahead of key rivals in Bharat NCAP scores. It outperforms the Tata Nexon, Skoda Kushaq, Mahindra XUV300, and Kia Sonet in adult occupant protection scores. With 31.15 points, it leads the segment, making it one of the safest compact SUVs currently on sale in India.

The second generation Venue was launched in India in November last year and comes with a completely fresh design and platform. It remains under four meters in length but is now wider by 30 mm and taller by 48 mm. The styling takes inspiration from Hyundai global SUVs like the Palisade, giving it a more premium look.

Inside, the Venue gets dual 12.3 inch screens, a new D cut steering wheel and physical controls for key functions. Rear passengers get sunshades and the boot offers 375 litres of space. Other features include ventilated front seats, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a Bose sound system and a cooled glove box.

Hyundai Venue – Engine Options And Pricing

The Venue is offered with three engine options. There is a 1.2 litre petrol, a 1.5 litre diesel and a 1 litre turbo petrol for the N Line variant. Transmission options include both manual and automatic choices.

Prices for the Venue start at Rs 7.89 lakh and goes up to Rs 15.69 lakh for the top spec variant. The SUV continues to compete against strong rivals including the Tata Nexon, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Kia Sonet and Syros, Skoda Kylaq and Mahindra XUV3XO.
