Update KTM 390 Adventure X Launched with Ride Modes, Traction Control, Cornering ABS

KTM India has officially launched the updated KTM 390 Adventure X in India at a price of ₹3.03 lakhs (ex-showroom). The KTM 390 Adventure X now comes equipped with features that were previously exclusive to the higher-spec 390 Adventure. While the core mechanical package remains unchanged, there have only been changes to active safety features and addition of ride modes.

The update comes alongside the launch of the KTM 390 Enduro R (international-spec), though the focus here is mainly is breaking down the updates, price, powertrain and features of the KTM 390 Adventure X.

KTM 390 Adventure X- Design and Ergonomics

Visually, the KTM 390 Adventure X remains unchanged from its earlier iterations, retaining the sharp LED headlamp, wide seat, upright stance, and ADV-style beak fender. While it doesn’t feature spoked wheels or tubeless off-road tyres, the alloy wheels and dual-sport rubber make it suitable road and slight trail use.  The seat height remains around 825 mm. The kerb weight when the motorcycle is fully fueled stands at 176 kg.KTM 390 Adventure X

KTM 390 Adventure X – Features and Updates

In its updated avatar, the KTM 390 Adventure X gains four major electronic upgrades:

  1. Cruise Control: Now standard, with dedicated Cruise and Speed Limiter modes
  2. Cornering ABS (cABS): Enhances braking safety while leaned over in curves
  3. Ride Modes: Offers three selectable options—Street, Rain, and Off-road
  4. Motorcycle Traction Control (MTC): Helps maintain grip across varying terrain

These additions bring the KTM 390 Adventure X significantly closer in electronic capability to the higher 390 Adventure, making it a more attractive option for long-distance touring and for offroad riding. Importantly, these updates do not come at a significant price hike, keeping the model accessible to potential customers. The premium is a mere ₹12,000 over the outgoing model.

KTM 390 Adventure X – Engine and Performance

The KTM 390 Adventure X continues to be powered by the proven LC4c 399cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, DOHC engine. The motor produces 46 PS at 8500 rpm and 39 Nm of torque at 6500 rpm, mated to a 6-speed gearbox. While performance figures remain identical to the outgoing model, the inclusion of traction control and ride modes may offer the rider better grip and safety especially around corners and even during offroad.

KTM 390 Adventure X – Suspension and Ride Comfort

Suspension hardware on the KTM 390 Adventure X remains unchanged. It continues with WP Apex front forks and a monoshock rear, both tuned for long-distance comfort and light off-road use. While travel figures haven’t been explicitly updated, they are expected to remain similar to the standard 390 Adventure, which offers 200 mm of suspension travel in the front and rear ends respectively.

Inclusion of Off-road mode paired with long-travel suspension makes the KTM 390 Adventure X reasonably capable on paper on broken roads, though it’s not targeted at hardcore trail riding like the Enduro R variant.

KTM 390 Adventure X – Braking and Safety

Braking duties are handled by a 320 mm front disc and a 240 mm rear disc, paired with cornering ABS as part of the recent upgrade. The system adjusts braking force dynamically depending on lean angle. MTC (Motorcycle Traction Control) is particularly useful on wet or gravelly surfaces, allowing the bike to correct minor slips by reducing engine power momentarily—features previously unseen at this price point. The KTM 390 Adventure X is fitted with a steel trellis frame which is powder coated. You also get a 14 litre fuel tank and a ground clearance of 232 mm.

KTM 390 Adventure X – Price and Market Positioning

At ₹3.03 lakh (ex-showroom), the KTM 390 Adventure X continues to serve as the most accessible entry point into KTM’s 390 ADV lineup in India. With a feature update that now includes cruise control, cornering ABS, ride modes, and traction control, the value proposition has improved significantly without any steep price hike. Compared to rivals like the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450, Triumph Scrambler 400X and BMW G 310 G, all of them are priced similarly.

Interested buyers can book the motorcycle via the official KTM India website or by visiting any of the authorised KTM dealerships across the country. Deliveries are expected to commence soon
