KTM 390 Enduro R Global-Spec Now in India: Price and Key Changes

In a significant update to its Adventure line-up, KTM has launched the KTM 390 Enduro R—a global-spec, purpose-built off-roader now available to Indian buyers. Priced at ₹3.54 lakh (ex-showroom), the KTM 390 Enduro R is not just a cosmetic variant or an accessorised Adventure X. It’s a global spec motorcycle aimed at riders who demand serious off-road ability, not just ADV aesthetics.

India becomes one of the few markets outside Europe to get this international-spec model. The updated KTM 390 Adventure X has been launched simultaneously alongside the Enduro R. Both models expand the 390-lineup with distinct capabilities and features.

KTM 390 Enduro R – Design

Unlike its Adventure siblings, the KTM 390 Enduro R is designed from the ground up to perform in harsh environments. It ditches alloy wheels for heavy-duty 21-inch front and 18-inch rear spoked wheels wrapped in Mitas E07+ Enduro Trail tyres. These tyres are known globally for their on/off-road dual-purpose traction.

KTM 390 Enduro R – Engine and Performance

At its core, the KTM 390 Enduro R uses a 398.63 cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled DOHC engine, delivering 46 PS at 8500 rpm and 39 Nm of torque at 6500 rpm. This powerplant is mated to a 6-speed constant mesh transmission, with a slipper clutch (A&S clutch).

This is the same new-gen engine seen across KTM’s 390 range but tuned for better low-end torque delivery, which is essential for the purpose this bike was built for and that is hardcore off-road. Despite its rally-ready hardware, the bike maintains a dry weight of just 171.2 kg.

KTM 390 Enduro R – Suspension and Ground Clearance

Arguably the highlight of the KTM 390 Enduro R is its suspension setup. Both the front and rear get 230 mm of travel. Previously on the India spec model suspension travel was reduced 200mm and 205mm at both ends respectively, thus the seat height was much lower at 860mm. Customers now are offered the full international-spec motorcycle for a premium of just ₹17,000.

The main difference is that the suspension travel is now 230mm at both ends. As a result, seat height goes up by 35mm to 895mm, and ground clearance also increases from 253mm to 277mm.

The bike’s 277 mm ground clearance puts it well above its nearest competitors in India, such as the Suzuki V Storm or Royal Enfield Himalayan 450. The tall seat height of 895 mm, and it’s clear the Enduro R is built for serious offroad use rather than urban commute comfort.

KTM 390 Enduro R – Braking and Electronics

Braking duties are handled by floating callipers paired with 285 mm front and 240 mm rear discs respectively.KTM 390 Enduro R

Alongside traction control, ABS, and two riding modes, the bike also offers Bluetooth connectivity and navigation support. A compact 4.2-inch TFT display handles all the essentials such a smartphone integration, navigation etc and is easily operated via a joystick on the left switchgear. The fuel tank is also small and measures in at 9 litres. That said, it misses out on one key feature, a fuel gauge, however there is a low fuel level warning lamp.

KTM 390 Enduro R – Price and Market Positioning

At ₹3.54 lakhs (ex-showroom), the KTM 390 Enduro R sits above the 390 Adventure X (₹3.03 lakh). This global spec model comes in at a premium of ₹17,000 rupees over the India spec model, making it very accessible to customers who want the full experience. The KTK 390 Enduro R competes with the likes of the Kawasaki KLX 230 which is priced at ₹3.30 (ex-showroom) a whole twenty-four thousand rupees cheaper than the Enduro R. Customers who are interested can book the motorcycle online on the official KTM India website or can also do so by visiting their local KTM dealership. We can expect deliveries to begin shortly.
