Mahindra has once again teased the 5 door Thar and revealed that it will be called the Thar Roxx. The teaser shows a sneak peek of the exteriors as well as features that one can expect with it. The name reveal also confirms the launch date to be on August 15.
Mahindra Thar Roxx: what’s new
As the 5 doors suggest, the Thar Roxx will have a longer wheelbase with a more spacious rear seat and bigger boot. Now that Mahindra has shown the teaser, we can expect a few changes such as a new six-slot grille with a different design, LED projector headlamps with a C-shaped DRL and LED taillamps along with a silver insert on the front bumper. It will also get diamond-cut alloys although the size of them is still not known.
Other changes to the equipment list include the addition of LED projector foglamps, a 360 degree camera, ADAS features and dual 10.25 inch screens inside. A sunroof is also rumoured to be available.
Under the hood, the 5 door Thar Roxx will continue with the 2.0L turbo-petrol along with 2.2L and 1.5L diesel engines from the 3 door Thar. Just like its sibling as well, it will be available in RWD or 4×4 drivetrains with manual and automatic transmission options. Expect it to be priced at a premium of Rs. 2-5 Lakhs (Ex-showroom) over the corresponding 3 door variants. The Thar Roxx will compete chiefly with the 5 door Force Gurkha and shall be positioned above ScorpioN in Mahindra’s lineup.
