2026 Mahindra XUV 7XO Launched: Everything You Need to Know About the New SUV

Mahindra & Mahindra has officially launched the Mahindra XUV 7XO in the Indian market, marking the latest iteration of its mid-size SUV offering. Positioned as an evolution of the earlier XUV700, the Mahindra XUV 7XO debuts with notable design, technology and safety updates. Bookings for the model commence on January 14, 2026, with deliveries for select variants beginning on the same date, for customers who have pre-booked the car. While others are scheduled to follow in April 2026. Pricing for the new SUV starts at ₹13.66 lakh (ex-showroom) and goes up to ₹24.92 lakh (ex-showroom) for the top-spec variant.

Prior to the Mahindra XUV 7XO, the company’s latest launch was at the Scream Electric event in Bengaluru in November 2025, where the BE 6 Formula E Edition and the seven-seat XEV 9S electric SUV were revealed.

Mahindra XUV 7XO – Exterior Design

The Mahindra XUV 7XO presents a revised exterior that blends the brand’s SUV lineage with contemporary design cues. The front fascia features a full-width grille with jewel-like talon accents, paired with Bi-LED projector headlamps and daytime running lights. Diamond-inspired clear-lens LED taillamps and R19 diamond-cut alloy wheels lend a distinctive stance to the vehicle and is similar to what we saw on the Mahindra XEV 9s.

Updates are limited to gloss-black detailing and few reworked body panels, keeping the overall design evolutionary rather than revolutionary. What’s worth noting is that the XUV 7XO retains the same exterior dimensions as its predecessor, the XUV 700, despite the visual updates.

Mahindra XUV 7XO – Interior and Cabin Technology

Inside, the Mahindra XUV 7XO places significant emphasis on technology and connectivity. Across all variants, the SUV offers a coast-to-coast triple HD screen setup including a digital instrument cluster, central infotainment display, and a dedicated front passenger screen. The 7XO becomes the first internal combustion SUV in India with this layout from the base variant itself and the triple screen like other cars isn’t reserved for top spec variants. What is also new on the dashboard is the twin-spoke steering wheel, which is also seen on Mahindra EVs like the XEV 9s and XEV 9e.

The cabin also includes a 16-speaker Harman Kardon audio system with Dolby Vision and Atmos, a suite of connected car features via the Adrenox+ platform powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon hardware, and integrated voice assistants. Features such as dual-zone climate control, wireless charging with active cooling, ambient lighting and multiple charging points further reflect a focus on in-car comfort and digital interaction. In the top end variants Mahindra offers front and rear ventilated seats and even a wireless charging pad for rear passengers.

Mahindra XUV 7XO – Powertrain and Suspension

In terms of propulsion, the Mahindra XUV 7XO continues with established Mahindra powertrains. These include a 2.0-litre mStallion TGDi petrol engine producing 200 hp and 380 Nm of torque and a 2.2-litre mHawk turbo-diesel unit which puts out 185 hp and 450 Nm of Torque, both the engines are offered with manual and torque-converter automatic gearbox options. An all-wheel-drive (AWD) setup is available as an option on diesel trims.

A notable mechanical update is the introduction of the brand’s new “Davinci” damping system. This suspension technology, debuting globally on the XUV 7XO, aims to improve ride comfort and body control by adjusting damping characteristics dynamically, which Mahindra claims this new system will yield enhanced stability and refinement.

Mahindra XUV 7XO – Price and Variant Lineup

The Mahindra XUV 7XO is offered across a range of variants and powertrain configurations. Base seven-seater petrol manual models start at ₹13.66 lakh (ex-showroom), while higher-spec diesel and automatic options rise above ₹22 lakh. Specific variants such as AX, AX3, AX5, AX7, AX7T and AX7L address differing customer preferences for transmission types and feature sets. All-wheel-drive options carry an additional cost of ₹2.45 lakhs.

Mahindra’s pricing strategy aims to position the XUV 7XO competitively against rivals in the segment, balancing entry pricing with a value proposition that incorporates advanced technology as standard across variants.

Mahindra XUV 7XO – Safety Equipment

Safety remains a central component of the Mahindra XUV 7XO’s specification. The SUV is equipped with an extensive suite of driver-assistance systems compliant with Level 2 ADAS standards, offering features such as adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking and lane-keeping aids. The system includes dynamic visualisation that presents active functions and alerts on screen for driver awareness. A 540-degree surround-view camera, 6 or 7 airbags (depending on variant) including curtain airbags extending to the third row, electronic stability control and tyre pressure monitoring form part of the broader safety feature set.

Mahindra XUV 7XO – Market Positioning and Rivals

The Mahindra XUV 7XO enters a competitive SUV landscape in India where established rivals across similar segments include models like the Tata Safari, Hyundai Alcazar and MG Hector. With its blend of advanced connectivity, safety technology and traditional SUV packaging, the XUV 7XO seeks to appeal to buyers prioritising digital features and family-friendly capability.
