Mercedes AMG A45 S Aero Track Edition and GLE 53 Performance Edition Launched: Here’s What’s New

Mercedes-Benz has launched the Mercedes AMG A45 S Aero Track Edition and AMG GLE 53 Coupe Performance Edition in India, and this comes at a time when the brand has recorded its best ever fiscal sales performance in the country. Mercedes’ most recent launch in India was the V-Class luxury MPV, introduced earlier this year at a starting price of 1.4 crore rupees ex showroom.

Mercedes AMG A45 S Aero Track Edition and GLE 53 Performance Edition – Design

The Mercedes AMG A45 S Aero Track Edition stands out with a strong focus on aerodynamics. It gets a larger front splitter, added flics, and a fixed rear wing finished in high gloss black. These elements are not just for styling but are designed to improve high speed stability and control. The rear also features airflow elements and a revised diffuser to manage air better at speed.

The Night Package adds more blacked out elements across the car including mirror housings, window trims, and exhaust tips. The car rides on 19 inch forged alloy wheels finished in black with red brake callipers, giving it a sharp and aggressive look. The Mercedes AMG A45 S Aero Track Edition clearly leans towards a track inspired design.

The GLE 53 Coupe Performance Edition also gets updates that enhance its sporty appeal. It features 22 inch alloy wheels and subtle visual changes that align with its performance upgrades. While it remains a large luxury SUV coupe, the added elements give it a more focused stance on the road.

Mercedes AMG A45 S Aero Track Edition and GLE 53 Performance Edition – Powertrain

The Mercedes AMG A45 S Aero Track Edition continues with its 2.0 litre four cylinder engine. It produces 421 hp and 500 Nm of torque. The car can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in 3.9 seconds, making it one of the quickest hatchbacks on sale. The top speed is rated at 270 kmph. The aerodynamic additions are aimed at improving stability when pushing the car at higher speeds.

The GLE 53 Coupe Performance Edition uses a 3.0 litre six cylinder engine. It produces 435 hp and 520 Nm of torque. It can do 0 to 100 kmph in 5.3 seconds and has a top speed of 250 kmph. This edition also gets the AMG Dynamic Plus Package, which adds features like active roll stabilisation and a high performance braking system.

Another key addition is AMG Track Pace, which allows drivers to monitor lap times, acceleration, braking, and steering inputs through the infotainment system. This brings a more performance oriented approach to what is otherwise a luxury SUV. The Mercedes AMG A45 S Aero Track Edition, in comparison, focuses more on mechanical grip and aerodynamic efficiency.

Mercedes AMG A45 S Aero Track Edition and GLE 53 Performance Edition – Price and Rivals

The Mercedes AMG A45 S Aero Track Edition is priced at 87 lakh rupees ex showroom. The Mercedes AMG GLE 53 Coupe Performance Edition is priced at 1.52 crore rupees ex showroom. Both models also offer the Mountain Grey Magno paint finish as an option, priced at an additional 3 lakh rupees.

In terms of rivals, the Mercedes AMG A45 S Aero Track Edition has no direct rivals per se, but competes entry level sports cars in a similar price bracket. It stands out due to its power output and track focused upgrades. The GLE 53 Coupe Performance Edition rivals other performance luxury SUVs such as the Audi SQ8 and Porsche Cayenne Coupe.

Mercedes-Benz Best Ever Fiscal Performance

Alongside the launch Mercedes Benz has also announced that the brand has recorded its best ever fiscal performance in India with total sales of 19,363 units in FY 2025 to 26, marking a growth over the previous year. This growth was largely driven by strong demand in the top end luxury segment, which grew by 16% during the fiscal and contributed 27% to overall sales. The segment also saw a 25 percent increase in the January to March 2026 period, supported by continued demand for models such as the S Class, Maybach range, EQS SUV and AMG portfolio.

The core segment, which includes models like the C-Class, E-Class LWB, GLC and GLE, remained a key contributor with consistent customer demand, while the E-Class LWB continued as the highest selling luxury car in the country. In contrast, the entry luxury segment saw an 18 percent decline as the market shifted towards lower priced products. Mercedes Benz also reported strong growth in its electric portfolio, with battery electric vehicles accounting for 20% of total top end sales and top end electric models priced above 1.4 crore rupees growing by 85% during the fiscal, led by the strong performance of the EQS SUV.
