MG Comet EV launched at Rs. 7.98 Lakhs

MG Motor has launched the Comet EV at a price of 7.98 Lakhs; cheapest EV car in the country

MG Motor has launched their micro-EV named the Comet EV. It has been launched in three variants- Pace, Play and Plush with prices ranging from Rs. 7.98 Lakhs to Rs. 9.98 Lakhs(ex-showroom). MG says the bookings will open on May 15th with the first deliveries set to happen on May 22nd.

MG Comet Features

MG has loaded the Comet with a lot of goodies. These include twin-10.25 inch screens, a fully digital instrument cluster, rotary gear selector, drive modes, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and reverse camera. The front seat also gets a one-touch fold and tumble for easier access to rear seats. MG has used a white and grey colour combination for the interiors.

The car also comes with 50:50 split folding rear seats. Safety equipment comprises of dual airbags, ABS+EBD, TPMS, connected car tech and more.

MG Comet Powertrain

The Comet EV gets powered by a 17.3kWh battery with an IP67 rating. This battery provides an ARAI-claimed range of 230kms. Further, this is paired to a motor producing 42HP and 110NM of torque. Charging duties are handled by a 3.3kW onboard charger bundled with the car which takes 7 hours to charge the car fully. There is no fast charging option.

The Comet EV rivals other cars such as the Tata Tiago EV and Citroen eC3 and will be available to book from May 15th at MG dealerships as well as from their website online. The introductory prices revealed are only applicable to the first 5000 bookings.
