Tata Sierra Returns: Production-Ready SUV Unveiled Ahead of Launch

Tata Motors has finally taken the wraps off the all-new Sierra, marking the long-awaited return of a nameplate that bowed out in 2003. After several concepts and teasers over the years, the SUV has now debuted in production-ready form, giving us our clearest look yet at the reborn icon. Prices will be announced on November 25, with an expected range starting from Rs 10–11 lakh (ex-showroom). This is Tata’s 3rd new car launch this year, after the Tata Harrier.ev and Tata Altroz Facelift.

Tata Sierra – Exterior Design

Visually, the new Sierra is a modern reinterpretation rather than a retro revival. It sports bold Sierra lettering at both ends, a full-width LED light bar, a textured grille, and LED headlamps positioned lower on the bumper, accompanied by vertically stacked fog lamps. In profile, the SUV retains the legendary Alpine-inspired window line, now reimagined with a blacked-out B- and C-pillar treatment and a contrasting roof, achieving a floating-roof effect. Highlights include flush door handles, 19-inch dual-tone alloys, black body cladding, shark fin antenna and skid plates.

The cabin adopts a tech-forward, three-screen dashboard layout, featuring a digital driver display and dual interconnected infotainment screens. The latest four-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated logo makes its way into the Sierra as well. Equipment levels are generous, with available dual-zone climate control, wireless charging, rear window sunshades, 360-degree camera, Level 2 ADAS, powered and ventilated seats, an electronic parking brake with auto hold, and connected-car features.

Tata Sierra – Expected Powertrains

Powertrain options are expected to include Tata’s new 1.5-litre turbo-petrol showcased at Auto Expo 2023, likely making around 170hp and 280Nm, paired with manual and automatic transmissions. A 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol could also join the lineup to keep entry pricing aggressive, while the familiar 1.5-litre diesel from the Curvv, Altroz and Nexon is also anticipated.
