Tata Motors launched the updated Punch EV in India yesterday with revised pricing, expanded features, and a clearly defined variant lineup across two battery pack options. Prices for the Punch EV start at Rs 6.49 lakh under the Battery as a Service program at Rs 2.6 per kilometre, while the outright purchase price for the base variant stands at Rs 9.69 lakh. The top of the line Empowered Plus variant with the 40 kWh battery pack is priced at Rs 12.59 lakh ex showroom.
For the Tata Punch EV, the 40 kWh battery pack gets a lifetime warranty with unlimited kilometres, while the 30 kWh pack is covered for 8 years or 1,60,000 kilometres. The 40 kWh produces 129 hp with a claimed range of 468 kilometres, while the 30 kWh produces 88 hp with a claimed range of 365 kilometres. Using a 7.2 kW AC charger, both battery packs can be charged from 10 to 100 percent in 4.5 to 5.3 hours.
DC fast charging up to 65 kW enables a 20 to 80 percent charge in 26 minutes, with up to 135 kilometres of range added in 15 minutes. Both variants also support a standard 3 kW home charger.
The Punch EV is offered in Smart, Smart Plus, Adventure, Empowered, and Empowered Plus variants depending on the battery pack selected.
Tata Punch EV – Smart Variant 30 kWh
The Smart variant is the entry level offering in the Punch EV lineup and is available exclusively with the 30 kWh battery pack. Under the Battery as a Service program, this variant is priced at Rs 6.49 lakh with a usage cost of Rs 2.6 per kilometre, while the outright purchase price stands at Rs 9.69 lakh ex showroom.
In terms of safety, the Smart variant comes equipped with 6 airbags, ISOFIX child seat anchors, rear parking sensors, electronic stability program, hill hold assist, tyre pressure monitoring system, and high beam alert. Exterior equipment includes 15 inch steel wheels with hub caps and LED daytime running lamps. The base Smart variant is offered only with four colour options namely, Pristine White, Supernova Copper, Bengal Rouge and Pure Grey.
On the inside, the Smart variant offers connected car technology, automatic climate control, multi level regenerative braking, an illuminated Tata logo on the steering wheel, a height adjustable driver seat, front powered windows, a 4 inch MID in the instrument cluster, and an electric tailgate release. Additionally, the variant offers two drive modes which include City and Sport. A touchscreen is not available on this variant.
Tata Punch EV – Smart Plus Variant 30 kWh and 40 kWh
The Smart Plus variant is offered with both the 30 kWh and 40 kWh battery pack options and builds on the feature set offered in the Smart variant. The Smart Plus 30 kWh is priced at Rs 10.29 lakhs ex-showroom and the 40 kWh is priced at Rs 10.89 lakhs ex-showroom.
Common features offered over the Smart variant include an 8 inch infotainment touchscreen, steering mounted controls, wired Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, a 65W USB Type C fast charging port, paddle shifters for regenerative braking, remote key with central locking, an anti glare prismatic interior rear view mirror, and a shark fin antenna. The Smart Plus variant continues with the same exterior colour options available on the Smart variant.
In addition to these features, the Smart Plus variant with the 40 kWh battery pack further adds hill hold control, a reverse parking camera, 16 inch steel wheels, an Eco drive mode, electronic parking brake with auto hold, and a knurled surround for the drive selector.
Tata Punch EV – Adventure Variant 40 kWh
The Adventure variant is priced at Rs 11.59 lakhs ex-showroom and is offered exclusively with the 40 kWh battery pack and builds on the Smart Plus 40 kWh variant. Additional features offered in this variant include push button start stop, cruise control, hill descent control, electrically adjustable outside rear view mirrors, and 16 inch aero optimised steel wheels. This variant also adds the “Caramel” exterior colour option to the palette.
Tata Punch EV – Empowered Variant 40 kWh
The Empowered variant is priced at Rs 12.29 lakhs ex-showroom and is offered solely on the 40 kWh battery pack and builds on the Adventure variant. On the exterior front, the Empowered variant adds the Fearless Yellow dual tone shade with a black roof. All other colour options are also available exclusively in dual tone form.
Additional features offered in this variant include a 360 degree camera, blind spot monitor, a 10.25 inch infotainment touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, a Harman Kardon sound system, in built app support for the infotainment system, a 10.25 inch digital driver display with navigation view, 16 inch aero optimised alloy wheels, auto folding outside rear view mirrors, a rear LED light bar, automatic headlamps, rain sensing wipers, a rear wiper and defogger, a cabin air purifier, a rear 15W USB Type C charging port, a front armrest with storage, and a cooled glove box.
Tata Punch EV – Empowered Plus Variant 40 kWh
The Empowered Plus variant is offered exclusively with the 40 kWh battery pack and builds on the Empowered variant. The top of the line variant is priced at Rs 12.59 lakh ex showroom.
Additional features offered in this variant include a sunroof with voice activation, leatherette seats, ventilated front seats, a rear armrest, an auto dimming interior rear view mirror, a wireless charging pad, an SOS calling function, LED headlamps, LED fog lamps with cornering function, and roof rails.
