Tata Safari Adventure X+ Variant Launches With New Tech, Terrain Modes, Price Revealed

Tata Motors has introduced a new variant of its flagship three-row SUV with the launch of the Tata Safari Adventure X+, priced at ₹19.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The new variant sits below the Accomplished trims and adds newer technology, safety features, and updated cabin finishes, aimed at buyers looking for a better-equipped option without entering the top-end price bracket.

Bookings and deliveries are open across Tata dealerships. The five-seat Harrier Adventure X was also introduced alongside this variant, offering a near-identical feature list in a smaller format.

Tata Safari Adventure X+ – Exterior Design

The Tata Safari Adventure X+ continues with the familiar silhouette of the current Safari. Built on the OMEGARC platform—adapted from Land Rover’s D8 architecture—the SUV retains its high-set bonnet, upright proportions, and three-row layout.Tata Safari Adventure X+

This variant features 18-inch alloy wheels and subtle updates, but the overall design remains consistent with the rest of the Safari lineup. There are no major cosmetic changes exclusive to this variant.

Tata Safari Adventure X+ – Interior and Features

The interior of the Safari Adventure X+ is differentiated through a tan-themed leatherette upholstery, referred to by Tata as “Adventure Oak.” The cabin retains a symmetrical layout and includes a 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen paired with a matching 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster. The inclusion of dual screens brings this variant in line with current industry standards in this segment.

Other notable features include a powered driver’s seat with memory and welcome functions, automatic climate control, and a panoramic sunroof. Connectivity options such as wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are available, along with multiple USB ports for all three rows and a 360-degree camera system for enhanced maneuverability.

Tata Safari Adventure X+ – Engine and Powertrain

The powertrain remains unchanged from the standard Safari lineup. The Safari Adventure X+ is powered by a 2.0-litre Kryotec diesel engine producing 170 horsepower and 350 Nm of torque. Buyers can choose between a 6-speed manual or 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission.

While all variants of the Safari, including the Adventure X+, are front-wheel drive, this variant includes additional driving modes aimed at adapting to varied road conditions. These include terrain response modes—Normal, Rough, and Wet—as well as Multi Drive modes such as City, Sport, and Eco. Hill hold control and an electronic parking brake with auto hold are also part of the equipment list on automatic variants.

Tata Safari Adventure X+ – Safety Features

In terms of safety, the Adventure X+ includes six airbags, electronic stability control, traction control, and hill descent control. The automatic variant benefits from the inclusion of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), including adaptive cruise control.

The variant is also equipped with automatic headlamps, rain-sensing wipers, and a surround-view camera system. The Safari holds a five-star safety rating from both Global NCAP and Bharat NCAP, reflecting a high level of structural and occupant safety.

Tata Safari Adventure X+ – Market Positioning and Rivals

Priced at ₹19.99 lakh, the Tata Safari Adventure X+ competes in the upper-mid segment of three-row SUVs. It is aimed at buyers seeking a diesel-powered family SUV with a comprehensive feature set but without the price tag of top-end variants. Its closest rivals include the Mahindra XUV700 (seven-seater diesel variants), MG Hector Plus, and Hyundai Alcazar.

With updates in connectivity, interior finish, and active safety, the variant provides a strong value proposition in a highly competitive segment. While the lack of all-wheel drive remains a limitation for those with off-road requirements, the Tata Safari Adventure X+ presents itself as a well-rounded offering.

Speaking on the launch, Vivek Srivatsa, Chief Commercial Officer, Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd., said, “The Harrier and Safari have always stood for more than just mobility — they represent status, purpose, and a deep-rooted desire for an adventurous lifestyle. With the introduction of the Adventure X persona, we’ve modernised these icons for a new era — one that champions individuality, precision-crafted design, and intelligent capability – all while offering more value per car.

Designed for those who seek authenticity, capability, and expression in equal measure, the Adventure X is positioned at a compelling price point in the segment, offering class-leading features. Furthermore, with this new persona, we have also reimagined the Harrier and Safari line completely, making the range more intuitive, streamlined, and value-rich than ever before in the high SUV space.”
