Volkswagen India had conducted an Experiential Drive for their flagship SUV, the Tiguan in India. The drive was held across the country in 5 cities namely- Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Chennai. It was conducted between October 28th and November 5th in these cities. The drive aimed to demonstrate the capability of the 4motion all-wheel-drive system on the Tiguan across an array of obstacles such as autocross, hill climb, down-hill, axle articulation, water wading, side slope and more. Further, certain safety features such as the Hill Descent Control, Electronic Diff Lock, Anti-Slip Regulation and Engine Drag Torque Control were demonstrated. Customers were also shown the potential of the 2.0L TSI engine in the drive.
Volkswagen 4motion all-wheel drive
The Tiguan is equipped with Volkswagen’s intelligent all-wheel-drive system called the 4motion. The Volkswagen 4Motion all-wheel-drive system distributes engine power to all four wheels, enhancing traction and stability. It operates reactively, adjusting power distribution based on wheel slip, optimizing performance in various driving conditions. This system contributes to improved handling and control without favoring subjective qualities.
About Volkswagen Tiguan
The Tiguan SUV is the flagship of Volkswagen’s India range. It gets powered by a 2.0L turbocharged TSI petrol engine mated to a 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox. Together, the combo sends the car from 0-100Kmph within 7.7 seconds. Further, the car also gets a 4motion all-wheel drive system which can send power to the rear wheels when needed.
In terms of features, the Tiguan boasts of equipment such as an 8 inch touchscreen, a digital cockpit, panoramic sunroof, 8-way electronically-adjustable driver seat, powered tailgate, ADAS Level 1 among else. The Tiguan retails at Rs. 35.17 Lakhs (Ex-showroom) and is available in a single Elegance trim. It competes with other full-size crossovers such as the Citroen C5 Aircross, Jeep Meridian and Skoda Kodiaq among others.
