Volkswagen has updated the their two most popular models in their lineup- the Virtus and Taigun. Both cars get new transmission options as well as new colours through the GT Edge limited edition.

Volkswagen Virtus 1.5 TSI MT

The Virtus gets a new shade of Deep Black Pearl in the GT Edge limited collection

The Virtus finally gets the option of a manual transmission with the 1.5 TSI EVO motor. This six-speed manual transmission has been introduced on the top GT Plus variant and has been launched at a price of Rs. 16.90 Lakhs (Ex-showroom). Despite the change, power and torque figures remain the same at 150HP and 250NM. The engine also uses Active Cylinder Technology(ACT) which can shut down two of the four cylinders when not needed to improve fuel efficiency. Notably, till now the Virtus could be had only with a DSG automatic gearbox for the 1.5L engined-GT variants unlike it’s sibling, the Skoda Slavia.

Volkswagen Taigun GT Plus MT & GT DSG

Volkswagen’s midsize SUV, the Taigun now gets the addition of the GT Plus MT and GT DSG variants. This development now results in both the GT variants being available with a choice of MT and DSG transmissions. Previously, the second-from-top GT variant was solely available with a manual while the GT Plus only came with a DSG automatic transmission. Other specs remain the same and it shares the 1.5L TSI EVO engine with ACT with the Virtus. It also develops 150HP and 250NM in the Taigun.

The Taigun GT DSG variant has been priced at Rs. 16.79 Lakhs and the GT Plus MT variant costs Rs. 17.79 Lakhs(Ex-showroom)

GT Edge limited edition

To spice up the lineup, Volkswagen is also introducing a GT Edge limited edition lineup which receive two new exterior colour options. These will be only available through online bookings on Volkswagen’s official website. Moreover, there will only be a limited number of GT Edge cars produced on a made-to-order basis.

The Taigun GT Edge limited edition will be available in two colours- Deep Black Pearl and Carbon Steel Gray Matte. The former will be available in GT Plus MT and GT Plus DSG while the latter will only be available in the GT Plus DSG trim.

Talking of the Virtus GT Edge limited edition, it will be based on the GT Plus MT trim and will come finished in a Deep Black Pearl exterior shade. This will be priced at Rs. 17.09 Lakhs (Ex-showroom).
