2024 Toyota Camry launched at Rs. 48 lakhs; 230HP strong hybrid

Toyota’s Camry gets a new generation based on the same TNGA-K platform

Toyota has launched a new generation of their luxury sedan, the Camry at a price of Rs. 48 Lakhs (Ex-showroom). It remains powered by a 2.5L petrol engine paired to a strong hybrid powertrain.

2024 Toyota Camry: Design

While still being based on the TNGA-K platform as the previous model, the new Camry gets major improvements. The styling is all new with a modern look at the front and a “hammerhead” design in-line with Toyota’s global design language. The headlamps now get an LED bi-projector setup with swanky C-shaped DRLs. Below this sits a massive grille which also houses LED foglamps. Towards the side, one can see the resemblance with the previous generation although there are new character lines and the design for the 18 inch alloy wheels has been updated.

Towards the rear, it gets Lexus-inspired C shaped LED taillamps with sharper creases on the boot as well as a new bumper.

2024 Toyota Camry: Interior & Features

Interiors have been comprehensively updated as well with a brand new dashboard design and brown upholstery replacing the beige one. At the centre sits a 12.3 inch touchscreen infotainment with Wireless Android Auto/Apple Carplay. It gets paired to a 9 speaker JBL sound system. As for the driver, the instrument cluster is also fully-digital now with a 12.3 inch screen. Other features additions include a Heads-up display, wireless smartphone charger, 360 degree camera, tri-zone climate control, 10-way power adjustable front seats with adjustable lumbar support along with reclining rear seats.

As for safety, it gets 9 airbags, ABS+EBD, ESC, Electronic Parking Brake with Autohold, TPMS, Hill Start Assist along with a range of ADAS features like adaptive cruise control, Lane Keep Assist, Auto high beam, Emergency braking and more.

2024 Toyota Camry: Powertrain & Rivals

Under the bonnet, the Camry gets powered by a 2.5L four-cylinder petrol engine paired to a strong hybrid system which delivers a combined of 230HP and 429NM of torque. This gets paired to an eCVT transmission. Toyota claims that it will do an ARAI-certified 25.49 Kmpl.

The Camry has been launched in a single variant for a price of Rs. 48 Lakhs (Ex-showroom)and will be assembled as a CKD (Completely Knocked-Down) unit at Toyota’s facility in Bidadi, Karnataka. It is available in six colours- Cement Grey, Attitude Black, Dark Blue, Emotional Red, Platinum White Pearl and Precious Metal.

The lone rival for the Camry stands to be the Skoda Superb.
