BMW India has introduced two limited-run models the BMW 330Li M Sport and BMW M340i 50 Jahre Edition — to mark 50 years of the iconic 3 Series. Limited to just 50 units each, these special editions celebrate the legacy of BMW’s best-selling premium sedan globally. Both are locally produced at BMW Group Plant Chennai and available exclusively through the BMW Online Shop. BMW India’s most recent launch was the entry level BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe.
BMW 330Li M Sport and BMW M340i 50 Jahre Edition – Exterior Design
The BMW 330Li M Sport and BMW M340i 50 Jahre Edition receive subtle but distinctive updates over their standard counterparts.
The 330Li M Sport is offered in Mineral White, Skyscraper Grey, and M Carbon Black, enhanced by M High-Gloss Shadowline trim across the grille, diffuser, window surrounds, and tailpipes. The B-Pillar gets a laser-engraved ‘1/50’ insignia, a hallmark of the Jahre Editions. Adaptive LED headlights with cornering function are also part of the package.
The M340i, meanwhile, has a more aggressive stance with a mesh-style black kidney grille, Adaptive LED headlights with blue accents, and M Lights Shadowline treatment. Additional elements include special ‘50 Jahre’ badges, blacked-out fender and rear badging, and 19-inch Jet Black alloys with red M Sport brake calipers. Buyers also receive an M Performance Key Fob as part of the package. Colour options include – Dravit Grey, Black Sapphire, Fire Red Metallic and Arctic Race Blue.

Inside, both editions are equipped with a range of premium features. The BMW 330Li M Sport 50 Jahre Edition includes carbon-fibre interior trim, the BMW Curved Display, and electrically adjustable Comfort Seats with extendable thigh support.
The BMW M340i 50 Jahre Edition focuses more on performance-oriented detailing. It is offered with Vernasca leather upholstery in black with M highlights, sport seats with reinforced bolstering, and a steering wheel distinguished by a red centre marker. The interior also features an anthracite headliner, M Shadowline finishes, and carbon-fibre trim inserts.
BMW 330Li M Sport and BMW M340i 50 Jahre Edition – Engine and Powertrain
Performance remains central to both models. The BMW 330Li M Sport 50 Jahre Edition is powered by a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine producing 258 hp and 400 Nm of torque, enabling 0–100 km/h in 6.2 seconds. Transmission duties are handled by an 8-speed dual clutch automatic transmission.
The BMW M340i 50 Jahre Edition continues to be the fastest locally built BMW in India. Its 3.0-litre straight-six turbo petrol engine develops 374 hp and 500 Nm, delivering a 0–100 km/h time of 4.4 seconds. The xDrive all-wheel-drive system, M Sport differential, adaptive suspension, and sport steering and the M Sport exhaust are all part of the factory fitments.
BMW 330Li M Sport and BMW M340i 50 Jahre Edition – Safety
Safety technology in both editions includes Adaptive LED headlights, six airbags, Dynamic Stability Control, and ABS with brake assist. The M340i further benefits from advanced chassis tuning and M Sport brakes with red calipers.

Priced at ₹64 lakh (ex-showroom) for the 330Li and ₹76.9 lakh for the M340i, the BMW 330Li M Sport and BMW M340i 50 Jahre Edition sit at the premium end of their respective segments. As part of the 50th anniversary celebrations of the BMW 3 Series, customers purchasing the BMW M340i ‘50 Jahre’ Edition will also be gifted a 1:18 scale model of the classic BMW 3.0 CSL
The 330Li competes with sedans like the Mercedes-Benz C-Class, Audi A4 and the Lexus ES, but positions itself slightly differently by combining the option of a long-wheelbase with sportier driving credentials. The M340i, on the other hand plays in the Indian market under the performance sedan segment, with competition from the Audi S5 Sportback and Mercedes-AMG C43.
