Skoda Octavia vRS – Market Positioning and Rivals

Deliveries for the new Skoda Octavia vRS will begin on November 6. With only 100 units allocated for India, it’s not just a performance model but an exclusive one. Being a CBU import, its pricing puts against the Volkswagen Golf GTI in terms of positioning.

Speaking to Shutterdrives at a media roundtable, Mr. Ashish Gupta, Brand Director of Skoda Auto India, mentioned that the company plans to strengthen the vRS lineup in India. He also hinted that models like the Kodiaq vRS are being considered for a possible India launch in the near future.

The Octavia vRS will face both direct and indirect competition. While the Volkswagen Golf GTI targets a similar enthusiast crowd, luxury options like the BMW 220i, Mercedes-Benz A-Class, and Audi A4 may appeal to buyers looking for a premium badge. The Octavia vRS, however, makes a strong case for itself with its mix of performance, everyday usability, and the loyal following its nameplate enjoys in India
