Samsung Turns Your Galaxy Phone Into a Key for Mahindra’s Electric SUVs: Details

Mahindra’s latest all-electric SUVs, the XEV 9e and BE 6 have just gained a futuristic upgrade, thanks to a partnership with Samsung. Owners of Galaxy smartphones can now use their devices as smart keys through Samsung Wallet, allowing them to lock, unlock, and even start their Mahindra EVs completely key-free

The new functionality integrates directly within Samsung Wallet, giving users a single, secure hub to control vehicle access. What’s impressive is that it isn’t restricted to Samsung’s newest flagships; even Galaxy devices from the past five years, including Note and S series models with NFC, are supported.

Mahindra X Samsung – Technology Explained

Samsung’s system uses a blend of Near Field Communication (NFC) and Ultra-Wideband (UWB) technology to ensure a smooth, instant connection between the car and smartphone. Even if your phone runs out of battery, the Digital Car Key remains active, meaning you can still get into or start your vehicle without powering it on – a thoughtful touch for real-world use.

Adding to the convenience, Mahindra owners can share their digital keys with friends or family for temporary access, without compromising control or safety. Security remains at the forefront of the system: if a phone with an active digital key is lost or stolen, Samsung’s Find service allows users to remotely lock or erase all sensitive data, including the stored key. Every interaction is guarded by biometric authentication or PIN verification, ensuring that only authorised users can operate the car.

Built on the Samsung Knox platform, Samsung Wallet doesn’t just store car keys, it also securely manages payment cards, IDs, and travel passes functioning as a one-stop digital utility for Galaxy users.
