Volkswagen has unveiled the all new Volkswagen Taigun facelift in India yesterday marking the first major update to the SUV since its initial launch in 2021. Based on the Volkswagen Group MQB A0 IN platform which it shares with the Volkswagen Virtus, Skoda Slavia and Kushaq the facelift introduces a sharper design language along with a significantly expanded feature suite.
The SUV gets a reworked front fascia with new LED headlamps updated tail lamps and a redesigned bumper that enhances its visual stance. The Tiguan facelift is available in seven variants Comfortline Highline, Highline Plus, GT Line, Topline, GT Plus Chrome and GT Plus Sport and is offered with two engine options.
The 1.0 litre TSI turbo petrol engine produces 115 hp and 178 Nm of torque and can be paired with either a 6 speed manual or an 8 speed automatic transmission. The larger 1.5 litre TSI engine produces 150 hp and 250 Nm of torque and comes exclusively with a 7 speed DSG gearbox along with rear disc brakes while the 1.0 litre continues with a front disc and rear drum setup.
Volkswagen Taigun facelift – Comfortline
The Comfortline variant serves as the entry point into the Volkswagen Taigun facelift range and is offered exclusively with the one litre TSI engine paired to a 6 speed manual transmission. It focuses on delivering the essentials with a clean and functional approach featuring LED headlamps with LED daytime running lamps 16 inch steel wheels and a 7.0 inch touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone connectivity.

The cabin layout remains simple yet usable with manual air conditioning steering mounted controls and a straightforward interface. Safety is well addressed with six airbags ABS with EBD electronic stability control and rear parking sensors making it a sensible starting point for buyers stepping into the Volkswagen ecosystem.
Volkswagen Taigun facelift – Highline
The Highline variant elevates the experience with a noticeable jump in both convenience and technology while also introducing the option of an 8 speed automatic transmission alongside the manual.

It adds alloy wheels a larger 10.1 inch infotainment system with wireless connectivity automatic climate control and ambient lighting which significantly enhances cabin ambience. Additional features such as a rear parking camera, cruise control (AT only), paddle shifters (AT only), electrically folding mirrors and a rear armrest improve everyday usability making the Highline a well rounded and popular mid variant choice.
Volkswagen Taigun facelift – Highline Plus
The Highline Plus variant builds on the Highline by bringing in a more contemporary and tech forward cabin experience. It introduces a digital instrument cluster push button start and improved interior finishes that lend a more premium feel to the SUV. On the exterior it gets chrome insterts on the door handles and a silver coloured roof rails.

Volkswagen Taigun facelift – GT Line
The GT Line variant shifts focus towards visual appeal and sport inspired styling while retaining the 1.0 litre TSI engine options. It distinguishes itself with GT badging darker exterior highlights and a more assertive design treatment that adds character to the SUV. Feature wise it aligns closely with the upper trims of the one litre lineup but is clearly positioned for buyers who prioritise styling and road presence over outright performance.

Volkswagen Taigun facelift – Topline
The Topline variant represents the most feature rich offering within the one litre TSI range. It brings in a host of premium upgrades including LED headlamps larger alloy wheels a fully digital cockpit ventilated front seats leatherette upholstery and a sunroof. Safety is further enhanced with additional airbags and tyre pressure monitoring. This variant delivers a near flagship experience for those who prefer the efficiency of the smaller engine without compromising on comfort or equipment.

Volkswagen Taigun facelift – GT Plus Chrome
The GT Plus Chrome variant marks the transition into the more powerful 1.5 litre TSI engine paired exclusively with the DSG gearbox. It is positioned as a premium offering with a more elegant design approach featuring chrome accents and a comprehensive feature list. What is different in this variant are the GT brandings on the exterior and interior to differentiate it from the standard variants. The brake callipers are also painted red, while on the inside, you get red ambient lighting.

Volkswagen Taigun facelift – GT Plus Sport
At the top of the Volkswagen Taigun lineup sits the GT Plus Sport variant which embodies the most dynamic and expressive version of the Tiguan facelift. It carries forward the 1.5 TSI and DSG combination while introducing blacked out styling elements sport themed interiors and distinctive GT detailing. The GT Plus Sport variant mirrors the GT Plus Chrome in terms of equipment and features, with the primary distinction being its more aggressive blacked out styling and sportier visual appeal.
