2026 Tata Safari EV Spied Testing: What to Expect from the Mahindra XEV 9S Rival

Tata Safari EV has been spotted testing with a launch in the next few months expected and eminent. The Safari EV like the ICE counterpart will be the 7 seat derivative of the Harrier and will sit on top of the Tata EV food chain and will be the brands flagship electric vehicle. While a lot of details remain under wraps, from the test mule images we can gather that it will carry over the silhouette and design cues of the ICE Safari but the interior details, battery pack all remain speculative.

Tata Safari EV – Expected Exterior Design

While the spied SUV’s silhouette is the same as that of the combustion powered Safari, the lack of a tailpipe at the rear and a Harrier EV like independent multi link rear suspension setup confirm that it is the Safari’s electric version. Notably, the Safari EV will be built on the same Acti.ev+ platform as the Harrier EV and will be an ICE to EV conversion.

Apart from the suspension system, a side step is also noticeable on the spied SUV. Although other design details were hidden due to the camouflage, they are expected to be similar to the ICE version, save for redesigned front and rear bumpers, new wheels and EV specific badges. The dimensions are also expected to be similar.

Tata Safari EV – Expected Interior Design and Features

In terms of equipment, the Safari EV could offer the same features as the Harrier EV with a few minor enhancements here and there. However, it must be noted that these details are speculative and will only be confirmed on launch.

Features like Reverse Assist, Summon Mode, and Vehicle to Load and Vehicle to Vehicle power transfer could also be available, mainly on the top spec variants.

Tata Safari EV – Expected Battery Pack and Range

While official details are awaited, the Tata Safari EV is expected to be offered with the same 65 kWh and 75 kWh battery options as the Harrier EV, with a dual motor all wheel drive option likely reserved for the larger battery pack.
