Tata Motors is expected to launch the Tata Tigor facelift and the design patent images of the updated compact sedan have surfaced online after they were filed with the government. The Tata Tigor is a sub four metre sedan based on the Tata Tiago hatchback. First launched in 2017, this will be the third facelift for the sedan. Tata Motors has had a busy year so far. The year began with the Punch facelift, followed by the Punch EV facelift and the updated Tiago and Tiago EV. More recently, Tata Motors also teased the Sierra EV which is scheduled to be unveiled on June 30.
Tata Tigor Facelift – Expected Exterior Design
The design patent images reveal a sleeker front end for the Tata Tigor facelift. The sedan appears to get slimmer headlamps connected by a central trim piece which could feature a gloss black finish similar to the one seen on the recently updated Tata Tiago. The front bumper design also looks cleaner and gets larger air vents along with redesigned fog lamp housings.

In profile, the alloy wheel design is new although the wheel size is expected to remain at 15 inches. Prominent wheel arch sections suggest that the sedan could get black cladding like seen on its hatchback sibling. The design patent images also show the familiar notchback roofline which continues to distinguish the Tigor from the Tiago hatchback.

At the rear, the Tata Tigor facelift is expected to feature connected tail lamps which would bring it in line with Tata’s latest design language. Tata Motors could also introduce new exterior paint options similar to those offered on the Tiago facelift.
Tata Tigor Facelift – Expected Interior Design and Features
While the cabin design has not been revealed yet, the Tata Tigor facelift is expected to borrow several elements from the Tiago facelift. This could include a completely revised dashboard layout, a freestanding infotainment screen, a semi digital instrument cluster, a redesigned steering wheel and a new centre console with an integrated armrest. The gear selector for the AMT variants is also expected to be revised, replacing the conventional gear lever with a rotary dial similar to the setup introduced on the Tata Tiago facelift

Feature additions are also expected to mirror those seen on the Tiago facelift. The updated sedan could come equipped with automatic climate control, a 360 degree camera with blind view monitor, electrically adjustable outside rear view mirrors, six airbags as standard, rear AC vents, wireless charging with smartphone deck, fast charging ports and a cooled glovebox.
Tata Tigor Facelift – Expected Powertrain and Price
Since the Tata Tigor shares its platform with the Tiago, it is expected to continue with the same powertrain options. These include the 1.2 litre naturally aspirated petrol engine producing 86 hp and the CNG version producing 75.5 hp. Both versions are expected to continue with a 5 speed manual gearbox and a 5 speed AMT option.
With the facelift, prices are expected to see a slight increase. At present, the Tata Tigor petrol range is priced between Rs 5.55 lakh and Rs 8.84 lakh. Once launched, the updated sedan will continue to rival the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Honda Amaze and Hyundai Aura in the compact sedan segment.
